My name is Megan, I'm a 28 years old and live in central Louisiana. I've been putting on and taking off the same 15 lbs for the last two years, and I am so done. Yeah...I do a ridiculous amount of exercise a week so maybe I need to account for that...I always end up going over my goal by at least 1000...I'll try readjusting my goals and see what it does.

I just couldn't imagine that eating more would help but it might be that I don't eat enough. Thanks for all your help!!

What are your activity levels daily that Sparkpeople set based off your goals? Are you hitting or surpassing those levels? If you are, recalulate your calorie intake. It may go up or down based on your goals and the amount you work out weekly. Maybe step your activity amounts up, squeeze in an extra hour. Change up your routine, try a different activity. If you normally walk, try a light jog. Try a DVD or riding a bike. Change it up! emoticon

I'm taking in roughly 1,250, 1,550 calories and I burn anywhere between 300 to 1,100 a day, so I'm not quite sure where I'm going wrong. I know you said something about underconsumption, which I have heard of before, but I'm not too sure what those limits would be. Any thoughts, anyone?? emoticon

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to our team!! We are so glad to have you join and look forward to sharing this journey with you. You said you were on a plateau, have you adjusted your exercise and/or calorie intake? If you are exercising a lot and not taking in enough calories, that could be part of the plateau. I'm sure you've heard this before emoticon I was on a plateau for 3 months before I gained a pound, lol. Then I gained the few pounds I lost and now I'm working on losing those pounds again! Glad to have you on our team.

Hello!! I am new to the team and am making my mark lol

First things first, I am 23, semi-engaged to a USN boy (waiting for him to ask)...I am in AZ at the moment but will be moving to San Diego when he gets back from his current assignment next fall...so that gives me some time but maybe not enough time to get those California abs and such....So far I have been doing a Cleanse/Restriction since 11/22 and as of today I went from 159 to 148....so I am making progress! Yay. Totally psyched.

hi everyone
i'm happy that i have found a nice support group here and that you guys keep posting to.....
what i do as a workout: i do my Turbo Jam DVD ( that i got around 4 years a go and used it on and off) ,you really burn a lot and i have my WII fit which helps during the day that i'm not motivated. I have the Jillians M. Wii game , i dont like it its not well done.
and i Just got the biggest looser wii make you sweet a lot .........
so i think i have enough to keep me going for now :)

I've been here a while but I haven't actually introduced myself.
I'm Kirb, from England, aged 21! I put on about 1.5 stones when I had an accident that has left me without the use of my right arm 18 months ago. Well now I'm ready to lose that weight and get my body as healthy as it can be for all the meds and ops I have to have.

What kind of workout's are you doing? Many people on our team does Jillian Michaels DVD's. Her 30 Day Shred DVD is 20 minutes long and at my weight, I burn almost 300 calories doing that workout. Her longer DVD's I burn over 700. It's circuit training so it includes cardio, strength training and ab work. Check them out if you haven't yet. You can do this, just like all of us! Let us know if you have questions or need help or non professional advice. emoticon

Hi everyone
i'm 25 , almost 26, from canada.
i have been strogeling with my wieght when i got a little overweigt around the age of 15.i have been fighting with my self for the past 10 years to keep my self on a healthy wieght , no success.........
now i'm starting AGAINE .last year i reached my heaviest at 265lb and was able to keep it of around 245 with a lot of effort true the year going up and down none stop..
hopefully this is my last time.
and i want to have a baby also and i dont want to be that heavy and gaine more weight on top of that.
i'm counting my calorie and exercising every day.

Paramedics have some great stories! What a fun but crazy job. I dated a paramedic briefly and he had some tough hours.

I am a Paramedic (love my job!).So I came to SP looking for something to get me on the right track after trying and failing several times to lose weight. So far I have lost 11 lbs (Yay!). 39 to go. I have learned so much more here and gotten so much more than I bargained for. Its like I have a whole new outlook. I feel so much better about myself. I simply have a more positive attitude not just about weight loss, but about everything. My journey has been short so far but I have enjoyed every minute of it! Good luck to you all!!

You'll get it. It's just about finding the balance that works best for you. I've had to approach a healthy lifestyle from several different directions until I found the right approach for me. For lunches, I bring salad with some type of protein. Hard boiled eggs, a cooked boneless skinless chicken breast, that type of thing. It adds some protein to keep me satisfied longer and it also spices up a boring salad. I'm very careful about how much dressing I use. I keep small snacks in my desk: fruit, trail mix, sugar free apple sauce, wheat thins. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, my name is Deena and I'm 27 (almost 28). I have a beautiful baby girl that is 18 months old, she's my world. I've been married for 4 years to a great guy. I've always had problems with my weight but since I've been married that's when it really started. Before I would be in the normal to just a little overweight range. Now I've now been in the obese category for way too long! I think it was the combination of getting married and starting working for the state. I bring my breakfasts and lunches almost everyday and try to workout at least a few times a week. I normally do really good on working out and horrible on eating healthy or really horrible on working out and great on eating healthy. I can't seem to do both at the same time! But I'm working on that :)

You would have to go to a specialty type store about the running shoes. We have a couple here in southern california that people have recommended to me. Thanks for the kudos, I was really proud. That workout is tough. I should really go buy some new yoga dvd's when I get paid, I miss doing it. Good luck with your workout! You'll get through that DVD!

Let me just say, I feel so much better now that Jillian is done but I am really proud right now. I made it through the whole DVD and only had to slow down a bit on the second set of jump ropes and jumping jacks. So that means next time, I shouldn't stop at all. emoticon

I have to go to a shoe store called the Running Lab. They measure all kinds of things on your foot, the way you walk, where your pressure is, etc. Then they tell you the type of shoe you should be wearing. Most workout shoes make my feet go numb, like they fall asleep and I'm walking on needles. It hurts. So I am budgeting since it will cost about $100-150. Well I just finished dinner and it's time to tackle Jillian so that I can start my quiz and midterm studying. Way to go on your walk tonight, make sure you track your results!! emoticon

I have heard of similar programs. Sure give me the link and I will try it.

I just bought some running shoes. I got the asics nimbus 11's. They retail for 125 but i got them brand new off of ebay for like 78. What I did was i went a shoe store tried some on and found the ones I liked most and went searching around.

Oh, almost forgot I got me a 30 minute walk in with my honey.

Yay! You're here and welcome! I have a desk job to, I walk around the office as much as possible but it is definantely not enough to get this weight off. I am waiting to buy some new running shoes because mine hurt my feet but I was thinking about trying the couch25k program once I got them. Have you heard of that? You are supposed to be able to run two to three miles within 3 months. I have the link if you would like it.

You can do this and you will. Once you've made up your mind, just take it one day at a time. One step at a time!

I am 28 years old and I finally had enough of being unhappy with my weight. Though most people do not believe I weigh over 200, I guess i hide it well. Anyway I work for the State of Missouri and have a pretty seditary job, imagine that a seditary state job emoticon . Anyway I go to school part time working on my business degree. I would like to run at least a mile someday maybe 2.

I hope to stick with this and help you guys stick with your goals.

I think it's been hurting for a long time. Our teachers deserve so much more then they are being given currently. Money, supplies, etc. It's a tough job and I am thankful that there are great people out there who do it so well. I don't have the patience I've discovered. And I can't stand when parents don't discipline their child when they misbehave badly at school. Take away a toy, put them in time out, something! The parents used to look at me all bored and then take their child out to celebrate. I mean really? emoticon

I have my elementary degree already. I taught pre-school for three and a half years; while I was doing that I was also going to school to get my ECE endorsement. There were things I disagreed with where I worked, so I no longer work there. I am now finishing up my ECE endorsement and also working on my Sp. Ed. endorsement. Looking for a new job in the meantime...the teaching world is really hurting right now.

I definitely need more encouragement to get moving lately. I do really well as long as I keep up with it, I even feel great. My problem is when I get tired, I don't want to do anything....hmmmm how did I get where I am...I think I know! I have about 67 pounds left to lose and I want to get there and have a emoticon moment.

I am 27 years old and have dealt with the overweight thing my whole life and since mid-high school I have even been obese. I hate that word and one day I won't have to use it anymore. I live in Iowa and am a substitute teacher...I am really self-conscious and want to get over that as well. I would like to be able to keep up with the kids.

Hello Team!

I'm Deidra. I am 26 years old and want to lose over 70 pounds. I realized one day, while watching my boyfriend run up the side of a huge mountain while I struggled half way up, that enough was enough. I rededicated myself to sparkpeople and fitness. I decided that there was no excuse for how much weight I've gained and that it was time to get real. No more excuses. I've recently found Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred and it is awesome! Although the workout is super tough, it really gets you pumped and helps you tone. It's a circuit training DVD, 20 minutes a day (I do 2 days on and 1 day off). Let's get moving!!!
