I'm loving my fitbit one, but I have the same issue with my exercises syncing. I have only had my device for four days, and I'm still learning.

I hope everyone's staying hydrated in this extremely hot weather. emoticon

@ GUITARWOMAN - You can wear the Fitbit Flex on either hand, but whichever you choose you should set it in your Fitbit Account Settings. If you go to your Fitbit Dashboard, click on the "gear" icon in the top right corner and choose "Settings". On the Settings page, click on "Devices" on the left hand menu. You should then see a drop down menu to set your Daily Goal on the Flex, and beneath that a drop down menu to choose either your Dominant Hand or Non-Dominant Hand. And beneath that you can also choose to use the Normal or Sensitive Sleep Tracker on the Flex.

Regarding the question of whether the Flex supposed to be worn on the dominant hand - I really don't know but this sounds like a good question for Fitbit customer service...

Thanks very much for your response. Seems to me that over time, that will be too much work for me! So I suppose I would need to set up my common activity/exercises separately in the Fitbit for separate tracking -- but SP seems a more granular gitness tracking system, so unless I discover something I don't know today I will probably stick with tracking specific exercises in SP and let Fitbit track my steps-- and sync the SP entered nutrition to the Fitbit. I just don't believe over the long haul that I'm going to sustain duplicate tracking systems, so I'll aim to keep it as simple as possible.

Would appreciate it if a flex user--any flex user--will answer my question about dominant hand.

Is the flex supposed to be worn on the dominant hand? Or the non dominant hand? Or does it matter?

Actually, exercise synchs from Fitbit to SP and not the other way around. I basically marked several favorites for Fitbit and track it in both places and for different reasons. Odd, I know. Iike the overall fitness minutes from SP but the calorie adjustment on FB for calories burned.

So, I usually track food on SP but exercise in both places.

Thanks to all for your responses - very helpful. One thing though -- I find that the exercise tracking on SP is preferable to that on the Fitbit as far as workouts are concerned. I may be wrong about this since I have customized a lot of things on SP and am very comfortable tracking things here -- but I don't see that my workout routines as recorded in SP sync over to Fitbit, except for the # of steps, distance, calories burned and the general category of "very active minutes". I've spent a lot of time configuring SP workouts in groupings - is there a way to get that data over to Fitbit or would I need to start from scratch on the Fitbit to manually enter in my routines & custom exercises?

Thanks,
LT

I have been using various fitbit iterations for several years and have a One now.

I find the best syncing takes place when all my data is:

1) first of all, entered on my iPhone 5 rather than an iPad or my computer. Using the same device should really not make a difference, but I find that it does increase accuracy.
2) I track all fitness on the fitbit
3) I track all nutrition on sparkpeople. It comes over to fitbit quite accurately and almost instantaneously, as long as you use the same device. If you delete or modify anything on sparkpeople, you have to manually delete on fitbit as well.

By the way, for all us Canadians out there, it appears that Future Shop is selling fitbits on line and in "selected stores" (whatever that means). First time in a store in Canada, as far as I can tell. Also on line at Apple, Best Buy, and Amazon Canada. Quite a change from the days when you had to travel to the States to but the little darling :-).

Finally, a question for flex users. Is there a requirement to wear the flex on your dominant hand, or your non dominant hand? Does it make a difference?

Cheers!

I agree with you that the SP food tracking is more accurate the FB. Add to that the idea of having only one authority.

I have a Fitbit One and haven't had a problem synching nutrition to the Fitbit site (thought some things don't wind up in the same place and I find it difficult to modify on the Fitbit site; also any changes to the nutrition track on SP don't re-synch to Fitbit).

As for exercise, I find that goes from SP to FB as well. What doesn't do well is the FB data going to SP - it sends way too many minutes and calories over, so I stopped the auto synching for that.

Does anybody else have the problem of discrepancies in the syncing of Sparkpeople fitness stats and also nutrition stats being inaccurate? I really love the Fitbit and look forward to its evolution towards even greater tracking and accuracy capabilities. But at this point, I am having a problem with accuracy between what my SP entries are and having them sync up correctly on the Fitbit dashboard. Any suggestions? Also I notice that there's a substantial discrepancy between the steps Fitbit tracks vs. what my Omron pedometer tracks. At this point, I trust SP for accuracy more so I am relying upon my manual SP entries rather than on Fitbit...

Best,
Linda
