One of my easiest ways to get my steps in is if its the end of the day and I am low on steps I grab whatever is on my grocery list - just the stuff I've run out of during the week, and take a walk to the grocery store. it's less than two miles round trip so it doesn't take much longer than driving, and it gets me 3000 steps and keeps me in cat food or dental floss or whatever is on the list.

Thanks guys - I never thought to use the SparkPeople reports. That makes sense and it certainly cuts down on the math required.

Yeah, on the FitBit dashboard page, if you click month, it shows a bar graph of your distance for each day instead of giving you the numbers, so you sort of have to estimate it and add them up. you'll get a more accurate measurement by clicking on week and adding up the numerical mileage for each week. Frankly, I like the SparkPeople reports better for this: if you sync your FitBit to your SparkPeople account, one of the fitness reports is Daily/Weekly/Monthly distance tracking, and that shows a line graph of the monthly distance totals. You still have to estimate the value, reading it from a graph, but it is already totaled up for the month.

You should be getting a weekly update/progress report from FB which you could add up each month instead of days

Also on the page you can put in a range of dates and it will give you total steps./distance for that period of time

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

Does anybody know if there's a way to get a report on "distance" for a period of time (like a month)? I'd love to know my distance traveled in a month, but haven't been able to figure it out yet, other than manually adding up the days, which is tedious.

I love my fitbit one I have had for 2 months now ... I love getting my weekly progress report to see if I'm improving and increasing.

In the challenges forum there are threads where you can compete with others on your steps on a weekly basis

also add on friends from here to your fitbit page and you can challenge each other that way also

I love my fit bit zip! It seems so accurate and I love the size. I bought mine in the middle of February and couldn't be more pleased!

How is everyone doing with theirs? Any issues or are you as pleased as I am? I think we should start a monthly tally for steps, what do you think?
