Glad to help...are you able to sync now?
Regarding the calories burned statement, FB not only records your fitness calories it provides you with the number of calories you burn on a daily basis or your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). This would be the number of calories your body requires in order to function for a day. Your FB calculates this number based on your gender, age, weight, height, and other factors. You can calculate your own BMR by clicking on this link:

www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

Any activity you do (and I mean ANY!) adds calories to this figure which is what your FB displays. What is great about your FB is that the device will give you a picture of where you are for that time of the day. You can go to your DASHBOARD on the FB site and obtain an estimate of how many calories you are projected to burn by the end of the day. As your FB gets to know you, this figure will be more exact.

I know this is a lot of information to digest but hopefully it provides you with a better picture of just how amazing your FB really is!

Thanks again for your help. Seems like the calories number is very high. Someone said they usually halve that figure as it's not accurate/realistic.

I am sorry but are you keeping the USB dongle connected? You have to keep it connected AT ALL TIMES. And, yes, you have to sync the Zip in order to see immediate results; otherwise, you have to wait for the sync to take place, i.e., usually every 15 minutes.

Did you click "sync" on the fitbit connect downloaded program?

I have the Zip and, yes, I've used the dongle and checked the dashboard. Shouldn't I be seeing number of steps and miles as well as calories? I'm only getting calories uploaded on the FB site.

Which FB do you own?
If you have the One or the Zip you need to keep the USB dongle connected to your computer or it won't sync. If you own the Ultra then you need to keep the charging station attached as well.
This might be the reason why you are only seeing your calories as the FB site will update your calories burned on a regular basis.

did you check your dashboard for your steps.

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Buckets of wasted time that could be an exquisite lace shawl. ~Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much

Okay, I'm assuming that anytime my FB is near the computer, it'll auto-upload the data? I'm seeing that it recorded calories, but no steps. What's up with that? Anyone's advice would be great. Thanks.
