I am a fitbit ultra user. I got mine about 2 weeks ago. I have a sit-down job so I haven't made it to 10,000 steps yet. I average about 6500. I live in the Seattle area.

I just bought the Fitbit Zip off Amazon the other day, so I'm waiting for it to arrive. I decided to go with the Zip because I knew I wouldn't be using the sleep tracking function so I figured I'd save myself some money. I've been on SP a few different times but started getting serious at the beginning of October. I'm not looking to lose any weight, just need to change my eating habits and get more consistent with my workouts (I'm kind of a seasonal exerciser if you will, lol)

I was going to order it online yesterday from bestbuy.com but when I changed the delivery to my local store it said it could be picked up today so I figured I would go by and see and sure enough they had 1 sitting there with all the other fitbits. Though talking with one of the guys they still have not lowered the price on the ultra - so I had to make sure that I was getting the one I wanted - though with their 30day return policy I figured I had nothing to lose!

Hi Ally, I was under the impression that the Fitbit One was not released until next week, is it different in the States? I'm going to pre-order mine today and can't wait to get started with it. I'm using a Weight Watchers pedometer at the minute so sure I'll see a big difference. Hope you get things to sync as you want. You sound to be doing really well with your weight loss, could not agree more with your comment about Sparkpeople, fantastic place to be.

Hi, I'm Ally and I've been on SP for a little over a month ago, a friend told me about it and I've been hooked since. As far as fitbit I just picked up the Fitbit One last night and have already been impressed with how accurate it is and love how it syncs with SP. I have to say I have been looking at quite a few of the devices and the fact I can sync with SP was the final straw that made me pick the fitbit, I just had to wait for Best Buy to get it in stock as I love their protection plan! I have lost 40lbs on my own but I'm hoping SP helps me get down another 30, if not more! This is also why I wanted the fitbit - because I sit on an exercise ball all day I wasn't sure how much I was burning in a given day, though not sure the fitbit will detect it! I just need to figure out how to get SP to sync up with what fitbit wants me to eat calorie wise!

Hi, I've been on sparks since April 2009 and I got my fitbit ultra in September. I had a pedometer before that but it died because, apparently, I got caught in the rain or something--anyway moisture got into it and destroyed it. I chose the fitbit because it was the smallest one I could find that tracked everything I wanted ti to track plus it synchs automatically when I sit at my computer, which I do pretty much every day.

I am (very, very slowly) recovering from injuring my hip in 2002 (bursitis + most likely torn tendons that weren't diagnosed at the time). My personal step goal is only 5000 steps a day, with 2 rest days where I get less, and that's about all my body can handle right now. That being said, it's a lot more than I could do 5 years ago and I'm able to do so many other things (like fencing!) that I couldn't do back then, so I'm definitely making progress!

I'm also really struggling with weight loss--I just can't seem to shed the pounds. In fact, in the 3 years I've been on sparks, I've actually GAINED weight--though I haven't gone up in clothing sizes so the difference is most likely muscle (I lost a lot of muscle after I hurt my hip and I'm slowly getting that and my mobility back).

Anyway, I'm graduate student in the process of wrapping up my degree so my health goals right are mostly not to completely lose site of my healthy lifestyle while really pushing to meet deadlines.

I am 53 also. I use the fitbit....and as you can see on my ticker I have lots and lots of weight to lose. I walk about 2000 steps a day. And that is a struggle. However I am determined.

53 years on this planet, been with SparkPeople since 2006 (my page desperately needs updated). Been up and down and currently back down, just not to goal again yet.

Bought my Fitbit in the spring (March, I think) and love it. I bought the Aria scale this summer as well. I'm connected to MyFitnessPal where I track my food. Don't track my exercise except for my Sports-Tracker app on my phone. I just let Fitbit do it's adjustment thing and don't worry about it. I would be LOST without my little friend! I might order a new one this winter just to have for a spare if I can scrape up the $$.

I haven't been active here in quite some time either, but I'm aiming to remedy that!

Hello everyone! So glad Sparkland hooked up with fitbit. I love mine and I have to give credit to Travelgrrl for getting me connected to this site.

I've been in Sparkland for 3 years plus or minus and had some great success but unfortunately old habits die hard and I'm back to where I started. This time I'm going to make it work permanently and fitbit is going to be a major part of it!

Later,

hello everyone. My name is Annie and I am from Tallahassee, FL. I have just joined the program. I don't have equipment yet but I have downloaded the program on my iPod. I hope that I don't have to buy one. I am kind of short in money right now. I will be appreciate if anyone else is using fitbit without the main equipment emoticon

Hi everyone! Gina / RedPanda here. I am soooo beyond excited that FitBit and Spark are finally synced up! I've been on Spark for a couple of years and FitBit for almost a year and I am glad not to have to manually transfer food, steps, or sleep data anymore. This is fantastic! And I'm glad to see that so many of you agree.

Hi All -

I am a 51-years-old and have been overweight most of my life. My husband's company purchased the $100 fitbits and sold them to the employees at $30. My husband gave me his fitbit. I can't wait to get started with it. I'm really motivated to start losing weight.

Hello all,

I am new to SparkPeople as well as Fitbit. I have set a weight loss goal of 20 to 30 pounds by April 2013 in time for my wedding. While I want to look nice in the dress, more importantly I want to be healthier and more active. I hope that I am able to use this website and the Fitbit to help me be accountable to my diet and exercise goals. Good luck to you all.

Hello!

26 year old female from Texas. i've been using fitbit for a year now and had been using myfitnesspal with it but there wasn't anything as educational as SparkPeople. A lot of arguing on the message boards and it was unattractive. Anyway, I'm really excited about the new fitbit One coming out- i'm all about wireless!

I am so excited about the fitbit/spark link!! I have been on Spark since 2008 but had kind of fallen off, but luckily hadn't gained much weight. The long HOT summer in TX was tough.

So I replaced my trusty Omron pedometer (NOTHING wrong with it) on a whim to the fitbit since it measures more stuff. I am so happy with the change... having more info than just the steps is great. I bought a GPS watch too and they pair wonderfully.

Then yesterday, I found out that I could sync my fitbit with Spark! It's SOO perfect! I love not having to log my activity and food in two places!

Thanks SP! You just keep me coming back!!

Hi there. I used a Body Media GoWear FIt for about two years, but after I wore it in the pool and couldn't use it anymore, I took some time to figure out if I wanted to replace it or try something else. I went with the Fitbit because it is smaller and basically measures what I want to track. It isn't as accurate for calories burned as my GWF was, but the step tracking is very good. I like that it syncs with SP, though my minutes of exercise and calories burned seems arbitrary.

In any event, I'm glad to have it and enjoy the daily feedback it gives.:)

Hit my goal weight 9/16/11 and aim to remain there for good!

Hi, yes I've decided to pre-order the ONE, really looking forward to getting started with it. I'm a long time user of a pedometer so this is going to be a good new move for me. I walk most every day and live in an area surrounded by moutains, so there is a challenge each time I go out. Hoping that the fitbit is adaptable to the area. Here's to a new beginning with the Fitbit one.

I have used the fitbit for over a year and just love it! Corporate has always been very supportive with any fitbit problems I have had. It helps me stay real in how much exercise and movement i do every day. Sometimes when I see I havent climbed any steps at the end of the day, I will run outside and do a few sets of stairs at my condo!

I actually starting using My Fitness Pal for tracking food it is so much easier than Spark tracker and a lot more foods. I have an iPod and have it on it and a lot of foods you can just scan the bar codes and they go right on your tracker.

in case anyone is interested... the fitbit ultra does not survive the washing machine.
After several months, I found the zip, just started using it this week.
I like the simpler fitbit as I use SP for all my food, weight, measurement tracking.
The goal for steps is beyond what I will accomplish, but it will be fun to track my steps!
I'm a little over 1/2 to goal, and know this last journey will be the hardest....
Whatever time it takes..... oh well.....

Hey all! I have been with SP since 2005! My name is Misty. I lost 40 pounds then had another baby. I am now back and down 30 pounds since January. I began using FitBit Ultra in June and was disappointed with their food tracker. I am so excited to have my SP account sync with my FitBit account! Thank you all so much for doing this!

Hi everyone! I've had my fitbit for a couple months now and it's actually made things click for me. I've used other pedometers and they were all right, but this little device... I've lost 8 pounds in the last two months using it and tracking everything. Pretty darn cool!

Goals and Rewards
192 (1st 10%): Shred those size 18 jeans
173 (2nd 10%): Pull out my size 14 wardrobe.
156 (3rd 10%): Sign up for a dancing class

Hi all,
I received my FitBit Ultra today also and started using it right away. I found the activity tracker syncs to the Spark but I don't see the food syncing. Anyone have a suggestion?

And Radchick, I could really identify with your intro. I'm 56, 5'6" and down to 233 since June! Sounds good Huh! I've never worked so hard to lose weight!!! Hoping with the FitBit to log all my steps might help. So far I do aerobics usually 4-5 days/week. . Keep up with the gym, it will work.(sooner or later).

One Day/Bite at a time!!!

My husband ordered my fitbit yesterday and it came in today. I am setting it up for me to use tomorrow I am so excited. I am a 45 years old. I am the staff at a Chiropractic office. I am married for 26 years to a great guy. my daughter is 20 years old diabetic and my son is 23 years old with Asperger's. I help care for my Mom, she has Alzheimer's. In my spare time I craft. I quilt, cross-stitch, knit, crochet, make cards and do bead work.

In the last 4 years I have had both knees replaced because of accidents. I wanted the fitbit to help motivate me to exercise more. I want to get to a healthy BMI.

Everyone is doing the best they can with what they have and where they are.

Remember that the scale isn't the only way to measure weightloss success!

Do you want to be my fitbit friend? http://www.fitbit.com/group/228VZ3

Hi, I preordered the fitbit one from amazon. I think it becomes available October 25. I can't wait to use it! I haven't exercised for several months, but I'm ready to get back into a normal exercise routine. I'm starting out by joining the Y and taking Zumba Gold classes twice a week. I hope to increase that to 4-5 days of cardio and 2-3 days of strength traning eventually. I don't want to do too much too soon and get burnt out or injure myself. I am also anxious to see what the fitbit tells me about my sleep patterns Anyone else getting the One?

Hi all, I decided to buy a fitbit because several people at work had one and since I work in a busy dept of a hospital, I wanted to know just how I was doing with steps. Some days I have almost 10,000 steps by the time I get home, and other days I know that I need to get out and walk in the evening since it wasn't so crazy busy at work. I love my fitbit and find that it really motivates me to get all my steps in and as many flights of stairs as I can. At the end of week, I get an email telling me how I did.

I can do it!!

Hi Radchick,
Your Story has touched me. I too have had the same weight struggles and have been anxious to loose my excessive weight. A year ago I read a post on SP that made me evaluate my goals. Most important, it took me several years to up my weight, why did I expect to loose it in a few months. Fast forward one year I am 5 lbs from my goal. Along the way I have become healthier physically and emotionally. My best advice, create a realistic plan and timeline and stick to it.

Hi there, I received my FitBit Ultra yesterday and started using it this morning. I'm 52, 5'9" and 285 lbs... I'm looking to lose 85 lbs, and hoping the FB will help. I started tracking my food in August after my annual checkup. The doctor doesn't believe I eat as cleanly as I do, so I'm tracking everything so I can show that I am just not losing. Since August 21st, I've lost 7 lbs. I am fighting for every ounce. I'm frustrated. I'm hoping the FB will help me find even more opportunities to move. I belong to a gym and have been spending a great deal of time there, even working with a trainer. I feel like if I don't get this weight off soon, I won't have the opportunity to. Life is too short and precious to feel like this.

I can't wait to see how this works and if it really helps!

Linda, I agree with you; I am also in the 60s and still plan on a lot of healthy living. The Fitbit helps me stay on track.

I just ordered the Fitbit. I have a bodybug but found it a real pain to wear it on the arm all the time. You also had to hook it up to the computer every time you wanted to sync it. I am thinking this might be easier and it is less conspicuous.

Can any of you tell me how you are enjoying your Fitbit?

New to the team. Had a fitbit before, but it went down the drain. It literally went down the drain and I didn't want to spend another $100 on it - had it only a few months. Now that they have a less expensive tracker out, I've decided to give this one a go, plus I love the color options! Hopefully this one will not slip off as easily as the last one.

Hi! I'm new to the team too. I've been using the fitbit ultra for about a month now. I lost my weight in 2008 and have been maintaining since then. I'm not a youngster anymore (in my 60s) but I'm not ready to look and feel "old". I hope someone out there knows what I'm talking about there! Anyway, it seems like the fitbit makes me more aware of how active I am and keeps me moving more. emoticon
