My name is Marcy. My son gifted me with a FitBit a couple of years ago. It provides me with a great reminder that I need to get moving more. This is greatly needed as I'm a writer and soon to be published author, so I tend to spend a lot of time with my laptop or iPad researching or writing.
Looking forward to more movement, tracking and connecting.

Here is a link outlining some of the things I've learned since the FitBit came into my life.

Hi all. Just came back to Spark after a long break. Am starting over because I got the Fitbit Charge HR and it has motivated me to do better. So hopefully combined with Spark it will be a winning combination to get healthy and shed some weight.

Hey Team -

My name is Scott, I've been on the Fitbit Charge HR since it came out in late 2014. I joined this community because I've been on the fitbit train for almost a year now and have started to lose steam. So I'm hoping to get back into it with the help of the team!

Hi! I am new to the team and I have a fitbit Charge. My goal is to do a minimum of 10,000 steps but being a nursing assistant I do a lot of walking making that an easy target but is not enough for fitness. So, I have to start forcing myself to walk more outside of work for fitness. This is where I run into my problems. I really need to push to workout more after work. I have been with SP off and on but, I need to put my foot down and get back on track. I love my tracker although I do notice it does not track all my steps or will over track depending on my activity for the day (hitting every bump on a 4 wheeler ride through the woods, clapping at concerts, yes, I need to remember at these times to remove my tracker)

Hi, I'm Bonnie, aka Featherfrost. I gifted myself with a fitbit one for Christmas this last year; what a great gift...health, motivation. I started out with the usual 10k then gradually moved up to 12.5k. I'm lovin' it! So do my two Australian shepherds, Eli and Emma. My husband is noticing the difference in my shape and endurance as well!

My name is Jen. I got my fitbit back on Valentines Day...gift to myself emoticon
10k steps used to be a breeze but work has gotten more time consuming and has zapped my motivation...I am still trying to get 10k a day but am happy when I make it to 8K. I am currently fighting with the pollen in the air and it is driving me crazy, mostly because it is winning emoticon hence not helping the step count these days. I feel like I am falling apart but keep on plugging along emoticon

I just got my Fit Bit about a week and a half ago, and wanted to stop in to introduce myself and hopefully find some new friends who also use Fit Bit! It has been a bit too motivating too quickly (I'm nursing shin splints right now) because I really like making it go off (at 10,000 steps) and I had fallen off the wagon before I got mine. Anywhoo... Howdy Ho!

Hi There! I'm Tamiko in California. Used to have the Fitbit Flex but had a reaction to it (not the band but the accelerometer piece). I just cancelled my WW membership since I wasn't really following the plan or attending the meetings. I lost 100 lbs on WW but then gained about 85 of it back. I decided to give Sparkpeople a try since I forgot that I had set up an account last year. Started tracking a week ago and love the nutritional reports. I just received my Charge HR yesterday and tried it out on my workout this morning. I think I like it but have to get used to it.

Hi! I'm Nflatte ( Shelley)! Just picked up a Fitbit Flex on Sunday...My first full day of tracking was Monday...I teach special education and I knew I did lots of walking during the day (meeting students at their classes, walking back and forth to class, helping a student in crisis-which sometimes means a walk around the school...multiple times) but I didn't realize how much I was walking until I started tracking....WOW!

Hi

My name is Carol. I got a fitbit zip as a present a couple weeks ago. I like it. I'm an in home caregiver and a Commando Krav Maga Instructor, and I also participate in Tae Kwon Do, (currently I am a green belt.) I've just recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and it sucks, but its made me really focus on what I eat. My focus is to lose 70 lbs, and get my A1c from 12 to a 6 or less. I live in WA state with my two daughters who are 11 and 8.

Hello Everyone! I'm Tammy. I've had my Fitbit since May and I love it! I was getting at least 10000 steps a day until I suffered a stress fracture right below my knee. So that has slowed me down for awhile. With the doctor's permission, I'm easing back into things. Thursday I decide to give SparkPeople another try and my goal is to be more active on the site and with the community and stay motivated! Have a wonderful week everyone!

Hi, I'm Heather and I recently just got a Fitbit Charge HR from my boyfriend. At the moment, I live a pretty nonactive life since I don't start school or work for another month. But hoping to get myself more motivated to move more with this Fitbit.

Hello my name is Terry and I used to use the Spark activity tracker which my computer didn't seem to like, to now the Fitbit flex and I am loving it. My goal is to walk 10,000 steps a day and lose 52 lbs over the next 2 years. I have been on Sparkpeople for a while but never took it seriously, like Scarlett, Tomorrow is another day. However, my husband died from heart attack on 7/3/15 and now tomorrow is not just another day, and as much as I loved my husband, I still have some living to do, and I want to be healthy while doing it.

Hi! I have been on SP for several years. I purchased a Fitbit a little over a month ago. I am female, 65 years old, have survived cancer and a heart attack and was recently diagnosed with Lipedema. There is no cure and not much in the way of treatments. Despite the fact that this disease makes losing weight nearly impossible, I want to do all I can to slow its progression. I live in the beautiful state of Vermont.

My name is Linnie and I bought my Fitbit two months ago. Instead of wearing it on my wrist, I wear it on my ankle. That way it measures my steps correctly. When it is on your wrist, all you have to do is move your arm to make it register steps, and that makes it inaccurate. I live in Tillamook Oregon, and right now we are smoke covered from the forest fires that are on the other side of the state. The east wind is blowing it over us on the coast.

Hello Everyone! i have been on SparkPeople and have had a fitbit for about a month now. I am doing better than previous weight loss attempts. I have only missed 10,000 steps (my daily goal) 3 days so far. I had 15,000 steps yesterday and would now like to get a day with 20,000 steps!

Hi! I'm Von. I've been away from SP for about a year and I'm ready to come back. I've had my Fitbit for almost a year and love it. My goal is 6000 steps and I usually get pretty close. I'm trying to hit 6000 consistently and then I will up it. I'm here to get healthy and with the groups help, I plan on succeeding.

Hi I'm Crystal - New Fitbit Charge HR user.

Can someone explain to me how the exercise it determined that is logged into Spark from my Fitbit. Is it based on minutes active, or a target heart rate. I see it's syncing my exercise, but don't see the formula it uses to determine this number.

Thanks so much for any help!

Yea I did it, so for the total I was able to get in 10,953 steps. Drank all my water and tracked my food intake. Now if I can do this every day I am sure I will see so weight loss. Ready for some sleep. Look out tomorrow here I come. emoticon

Hi all, my daughter gave me her old fitbit flex when she upgraded so I am giving it a try. I have been using an app on my phone called Run Keeper that tracks my walking and that has worked pretty well for me so I am curious to see how this will be. I walk to and from work everyday which is about 4 miles on average. I also walk around the building at work quite a bit.

Hi, I've had a fitbit for a while now and found the best place to wear it is on my socks. I find pants are too thick and anywhere else doesn't calculate that well. I go on the treadmill throughout the day and am busy reorganizing after going to church this morning. So far I've got 6378 and hope to surpass 10,000 today. I have an office job so in order to get in more steps I have to get up and walk around the office throughout the day at a few minutes at a time.

Hi everyone!

I have had my Fitbit for just over a year. I love it, but I need a little kick in the butt to get a bit more motivation. lol

I used to be an avid Spark user, but haven't been on much for a while. I'm excited to try out the new app!

Looking forward to getting to know the team!

Hello! I joined the group bc I need motivation to keep going. I try to get in 10,000 steps a day. Some days I do, others I get less, occasionally I get more than 10,000. The fitbit helps me to keep going.

Hello! My name is Lori (MissLori5) and I have just got my Fitbit going! My spark tracker was a faithful friend for a couple of years before circumstances caused the clip to be faulty and I lost my buddy! So here I am, with new technology, able to track on my SP, and so happy to be tracking my steps again! I have been an SP member for 5 years now, and I just love the wonderful outlet it has given me in my goal to be healthier and more fit for my old age! I volunteer at a retirement/ assisted living home, and that is where my profile pic is! Love those residents! Look forward to becoming more acquainted with my Fit!

Hi everyone, My name is Nicolle and I have been using spark for a few years off and on like alot of you. I just got a fitbit on monday and I love it. It has made me realize I don't move as much as I thought I did and keeps me mindful of my calorie deficit. I am hoping this is the tool that will help me shed about 70 pounds. I have always tracked my food but seeing it in a graph form really helps me. I have also started carb cycling, today is my first day so I will see how that works for me.

I feel I am finally on the right track and I am confident I can do this. I will keep coming back often for support and inspiration when I am feeling tired and to give support and inspiration when I am feeling strong.

Let's get 'er done people.

Nicolle

I love the body God gave me.

Hello everyone! I've been on SparkPeople off and on for years now. I just bought a Charge HR in June. Today when I was looking through my e-mail and saw one from SparkPeople I remembered that you could link your Fitbit with your SP account so I figured I should probably do that. I didn't realize when I did that it automatically added me to a Fitbit group, but that's pretty cool. I really need to get back on the wagon and lose some weight.

Hey, my name is Lisa and I live in southern Louisiana. I've been using my Charge HR for a few months to keep track of my steps and sleep mostly. Joined Spark last week and I'm mainly trying to up my activity after starting a job that has me tied to a desk more often than not. While I'm looking forward to the weight loss, I more excited about the improved health overall.

Hi Folks,
Just set up the fitbit my DH got me way back in January. Been using SP on and off for years and am maintaining weight well.
Now I'm working on keeping my fitness level up. I read the book "Younger Next Year" (really great motivator) and realized that if I want to reach one of my lifetime goals I have to find new ways of doing that. Interruptions to my routine are my biggest challenge, since I lose momentum very quickly.
Here's to good health!

Hello,

New kid here.

My hubby got me a fitbit for my birthday and my son had to teach me how to use it.

I have a specialist who has been helping me with weight loss and I send him my weekly reports from fitbit. He loves it because it tells him everything I do. I hate it because it tells him everything I do.

But I am moving forward and that is a good thing.

Hey y'all,
My name is Becky. I'm 46 and live in NC. I joined sparkpeople 5 days ago. Yay! 2 years ago, I lost 73 pounds.....quit smoking and lost a fur baby......gained 45 of it back. I am recovering from a fractured bone in my foot but, hope to be back into my walking routine very soon. I always feel great after getting in 4 or 5 miles in a day.

Hi everyone.. My name is Julie I'm 58 and bound and determined to start jogging again. As you can tell by my username I've been struggling with my weight for awhile. But this summer I finally got it all together and between my fitbit and spark I'm actually enjoying the process. I walk 2 miles 5 days a week with 10000 steps. I try to have 4000-5000 steps before I leave work. I finally learned to eat half of what ever I eat at restaurants. It's working so far. I try to keep my calories around 1500 because that would be about the calorie range when I'm 130 pounds. Would love to have more friends to keep me company on this long process of relearning how I used to be.

Hi there,
I'm going to be turning 50 next month, Woo Hoo!
I have 30-35 pounds to lose. I've been using the SP Tracker, but without being able to see how much I've walked without sitting down to a computer, I decided to get the Fitbit Zip. My H got one last month and plain and simple I was jealous of him being able to read his efforts.

I try and not eat anything from a box or can, and choose healthier options. I sit at a desk for 9-10 hours during the week.

My H and I are trying to go out full time RV'ing in 2017, but I really need to get rid of this weight. I live in a rural area and walking outside is not an option because of the street we live on, it is way too dangerous.

I'm hoping this will make me take breaks during the day and get outside and walk!

Howdy All!

I'm Kim from Houston, TX. I am 39, with 2 kids ages 18 & 12, and I'm a teacher. I put on the weight the most with my second child. After the death of my grandmother last December I found out recently that I was at 297.5 I had to make a change. I got serious about my weight a week ago and have lost a total of 8.5 pounds and 9" and am going strong.

I bought a Fitbit Charge HR yesterday and am loving it. I love that it syncs with SP which is why I bought it. Looking forward to more updates with great results! Could use a few friends to sync with XD

I forgot to introduce myself the other day too. I am Debby, and I am going to be 63 in 2 more weeks. Since somewhere around 35- 40, I began gaining weight. My highest was 270 lbs. I have lost over 350 lbs in my adult lifetime, only to gain most of it back(not all at once ...thankfully). I retired (for the second time) last September, and have been working on my weight issues since then. I lost about 25 lbs from Sept. to January, and another 44 pounds since then. I am about 34 lbs from my goal weight, and on a real mission. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 years ago (no family history) and subsequently developed high blood pressure. With the weight loss, I have returned to a prediabetic state, been taken off my diabetes and blood pressure medication, and feel better than I have in years. I am determined not to fall back again, and that this time is my last time to lose weight. My plan is to reach goal, and keep it off this time. I have issues with arthritis, and need both knees replaced, but I push myself through the pain and walk most days. I have only made 10,000 daily steps about 5 times since February, but I do ride my exercise bike, and swim. Living in Florida makes it easy most of the year to exercise, unless it is too hot, but mall walking is good on those days. I am wishing us all the best with whatever our endeavors are...weight loss, better general health and the like. emoticon emoticon

Hey guys, apparently I forgot to introduce myself. I am a 35 year old mom of 2 little boys with health issues that makes it easy to gain weight and so hard to lose. I have a Fitbit flex and I am going to make one of my rewards a new Fitbit, a charge or whichever the one with the heart rate monitor in it. I hear it's much more accurate. I am also a dental hygienist but not currently working. I am considering going back to school for my masters. Non fitness loves of mine is knitting and gardening.

Current user of SparkPeople Activity Tracker, saving for a FitBit [$5 each day I don't 1) get fast food 2) purchase something from cafeteria at work 3) use the vending machine]. Trying to decide which FitBit to get, while loving all the bracelet options with the Flex...

I have liked how I can use the SPAT in the pool, but it looks as though the FitBit isn't pool-proof. Is that true?

Very interested to know which FitBit models others have, and why you like them. Thanks!

I want a FitBit so I can synch to my smartphone (I use an iPhone) and dispense with the cludgy dongle and awful SPAT uploading software.

Oh! About me: I have a desk job, a wonderful one, with Ford Motor Company. My husband and I have a son and daughter in their early 20s. My parents are still alive- at 58, I am definitely in the sandwich generation. My weight is still so high that walking and pool-walking are my main exercises. Tracking EVERYTHING is my program, and following selections/suggestions from the SparkPeople menu.

I'm Lisa. Almost 40, 5 kids, a desk job, a thyroid problem, busted knees from the military, and I've had enough with my own excuses! I've just recently returned to sparkpeople and just found fitbit app on my phone. Don't have an actual fitbit product... yet...

But, I'm working on it!

Hi Team, Kloe here:
I have 50+ to lose. I've been on spark for more years than I can count and have had a fitbit zip for about 2 years. I have washed it (oops) no less than 3 times. Aside from having to change the battery after the rinse cycle, its still working. I had planned on leaving Spark to find a site that would sync with Fitbit. Here's the truth. Paid for versus free.....I still couldn't find a site as good as Spark...and it links :) Not sure how I missed that one. A thyroid issue, and a 3 year family emergency has let me make excuses to the point of weighing what I weight now. I was at goal for 5 years and did really well. Seems like a steep hill to get back....but....Day 1..here we go.

Hi my name is Joyce and I just got my fitbit today, I have the zip clip on. It was easy to get syned to sparks at least it seems that way, will have to see how this all works. I am 72, need to lose 50 lbs but trying to lose 10lbs at a time. We live on the Oregon coast.
Been on sparks activitely since Sept 2014, I have a sparks tracker but always had trouble when the battery change came. My last broke completely, got a new one, then decided to try the fitbit. I had a gift card so use that.

Blessings, Joyce

I got my Fitbit HR as a early birthday present. I did ask for it. I got it in June but my birthday isn't until August 9th when I will be 71. I really like it. My youngest daughter got one about a week before I did and that gave me the idea and when I told my husband that was for my birthday he told me to go ahead and get it. Now he is asking me what I want for my birthday

Got a Fitbit for my birthday (I asked for it, wasn't awkwardly given) and same, I was autojoined to this group. Wanted to say hi. Needed an easier way to track stuff (sleep/steps etc) and my wife has one and she loves it. Figured I'd try it out.

Good Afternoon,

I have been a Fitbit user for a couple of years, but just joined Spark People today. I decided that having people to answer to on my exercise would be a big benefit as no one at home holds me accountable.

Between that and a job change to a desk job last year has impacted my health and not in a positive way. That changes today with my start here. If you don't see me post daily, feel free to call me on it =) Keep me active.

Hello everyone! I joined SparkPeople in April and mostly just dabbled. Got SERIOUS last Tuesday (one month before vacation) and have been spending HOURS on this site every day trying to figure out everything (beyond tracking). Then I went and did the foolish thing of buying a Charge HR on my lunch break! Now MANY MORE things to learn!!! YIKES! :) Did my first Cardio Kickboxing Routine (on Gymbox-sorry!) and it was super cool to see how my heartrate was during the different parts of the routine! So that fun aspect is keeping me from freaking out and having brain overload about syncing etc! (no, I lie still stressed!) Hope everyone has a great week! I will be lurking around trying to learn stuff :)

Hi everyone,

My name is Jessie and I just got my fitbit charge HR this afternoon. This will let me see how active and hopefully help with my motivation. Right now I live with my husband and will be married 15 years this saturday and together we have 4 boys ages 13 to 1. I do have a lot of weight to lose and know that I have a long road ahead of me but I can do it.

Hello everyone! I'm no pew to the group, but not new to SP or using a Fitbit. I'm not going to lie, I've been away from healthy eating and working out for over a year and it's starting to show...so now it's time to get back on track! Looking forward to exploring this team and the challenges" 😀

Hi Everyone!
I am new to this group, but have been using Fitbit since April after my Jawbone decided to take an unexpected swim in the sink while watching dishes (they don't swim well). I love the challenges, my neighbors and I are a little pathological about it (it is dark outside and I have 2000 steps to catch up and win for the day - go for it!). It is easy for me to stay motivated in summer, hoping this motivation will "stick" when the cold weather strikes in Wisconsin.

Have a great week.

Hey, i'm Mario. I'm just starting to use SP, but I have had a fitbit for most of the last 4 years. I think I currently have over 6000 miles logged with my fitbit one.

HELLO - My name is Jenny P and I have my brand new fitbit charge HR on for my first full day. I love that it integrates with spark people - one of the reasons I decided to make the purchase. I am excited to get back on my weight loss/enhanced health journey and spark people and fit bit together should make it much easier for me.

I will look forward to being part of this forum on a regular basis

Have a great Saturday!!!

Hello everyone, been on SP for about 3 months after finding out I am diabetic. Current plan is to control by diet. My current employment has me working at home on the computer or phone calls all day so I have a pretty sediment workday.

I purchased a Misfit and started walking (trying for 5 days a week) and started logging my food intake on the new eating lifestyle.

I have been thinking about upgrading to a Fitbit and decided to do so yesterday and it is due to arrive tomorrow.

My Fitbit user info is below so feel free to friend me both here and there!

Allen

Hello all. I just joined SparkPeople recently, about a month after I got my Fitbit Surge. Just wanted to introduce myself and say it's good to see so many people are improving their lives. I'm a transplanted southerner (from Virginia) living in Indiana. I have quite a few fitness goals, namely losing weight, reshaping my body, and eating better. I look forward to making this journey with all of you.

Hello I'm new here :) I have had my fitbit charge since December. I just had to reorder a new one today because it's not counting my steps or syncing up with my computer or phone:( Thank goodness I purchased the warranty! I've been averaging 10,000 steps per day and really enjoy the motivation the fitbit gives me. I just wish it would stop raining here in Ohio! emoticon

Hello all! I am new to the team. I've had my Fitbit since February, and the last several weeks haven't been as active as I should be. I am just back from a vacation so I'm hoping to get myself back on track now.

I was given a fitbit for Mother's Day. Maybe the best gift ever! I have lost almost 20 pounds since then - two months exactly. I just learned that I could sync my fitbit to Spark People. YAY! Looking to lose over 85 pounds total, so got a long way to go, but I'm doing it this time!
