Hi I've been using my fitbit for a while now but think I need some extra motivation.

My fitbit user number is 296DYK. I am 58 years old (will be 59 next month) My problem is I start exercising do it for a few days/weeks but then get distracted with other things and find I don't have time. I know I know if I really wanted to exercise I would find time, but I find if I don't exercise first thing before work, it doesn't get done. emoticon

Just remembered it's 1st March today, so I will be 59 in 30 days - emoticon

I just bought a Charge HR today, and am hoping that this is the added spark I need to get myself more motivated to exercise. I currently have a LOT of weight to lose and would love to get some fitbit buddies that would be willing to do some challenges with me (although I haven't yet figured out how to do them... but I will!) If anyone is willing to help, I would really appreciate it.

Hello everyone.
I did not even know there was a sparkgroup for Fitbit.
Now that I have my fitbit I am seeing how much I really do walk.
I am going to try to go 15000 per day. Is that too much?

I understand the feeling. I sit at a desk all day too, but for the last three days I have gone walking at lunch and the first thing I do is check to see how many steps I have taken.

Hi all, I'm Jeanne from Sacramento, CA! I just got my Fitbit Flex on Sunday. I sit behind a desk all day, so it is really hard to get those steps in. Now that I can see how I'm doing, it is more fun to increase those steps. I'm at 6300 so far today! Yahoo!!

I'm new to the team, but a long time fitbit user. I just upgraded to the Charge and love it.

I'm lucky enough to live in Florida, where the weather is currently perfect for walking during lunch. I've never had so many steps before!

I have a fitbit flex. It took a couple of days to get use to having it on my wrist - I kept looking at it to see what time it was (I haven't worn a watch in 20 years.) I love the way it syncs my food intake from SP. I'm on FitRPG if anyone is interested in some fun roleplaying. My name is Healthfan on FitRPG.

FitRPG syncs real nice to Fitbit.

Hi Lorraine, I monitor my sleep patterns as well and it is amazing how restless I am at night. My dog gets me up most nights at least once so I know I am not getting a full nights rest, but I had no idea how restless I am. Not sure what I can do about that, but perhaps once I can start getting out and walking more maybe my sleep will be more restful.

Hi, I'm Lorraine. I got the fitbit flex a couple of days ago so I'm still getting used to it. I got it mainly to track my sleep patterns as my blood pressure seems to have gone through the roof for no apparent reason. I been very surprised to find I do over 8000 steps on an inactive day just by chasing my children. My goalsetting are to get back to using SparkPeople regularly and meeting my 10000 steps as well as getting adequate sleep

Hello I just started using the fitbit charge HR, not even a week into it yet. So I am still getting used to it. I have not worn it to bed to track my sleeping yet, getting used to wearing something on my wrist all day, once I am comfortable with that I will tackle sleep. It certainly is not the most attractive thing - but that's not why I bought it. It does motivate me to keep moving It does make me exercise a little harder so I can see my heart rate go up..that is all I am looking for at this time. I recently started putting a lot of weight back on - not sure why haven't changed to much in my lifestyle - so I have decided to really look at what I am doing -

Good Morning Everyone,

My name is Patty and I have been away from Spark People for awhile, but thought I would jump back on to see if I can get motivated again. I have had my Fit Bit for almost a year and while I love checking to see how far I have walked I think I would like to move up to the Charge. My boss just got it and the band is different and I liked the fact it will show you the exact number of steps you walked, your heart rate and so on without having to log into your computer. Rebekah, the band on the Charge is different (if you pay a little more) and it looks more like a watch band and this one may not irritate your skin so much.

Hello, I'm Rebekah. I have had my Fitbit Flex for a year. I quit using it a couple of months ago because the band was so irritating. I got it back out yesterday at my sister in law's urging and then left it at work!!! ( I had it in my scrub pocket and dumped everything from my pocket at the end of my shift into my locker!) I am seriously considering getting the Charge HR. Does anyone have any feedback on the Charge? Has anyone had any skin irritation? Please let me know! Oh yesterday at work I walked over 13,000 steps before leaving my Fitbit!

Hi! I'm sarah. Live by my Fitbit! It really does keep me focused on moving! I have been using a pedometer for about 3 years. My goal this year is 10,000 steps a day! My husband just joined the Fitbit wagon too. Fun to have a challenger in the house!

Considering purchasing the FitBit Charge HR but looking for reviews from others who enjoy activities that are not easy to track! This takes quite a chunk out of my "play $" so I want to be pretty sure the investment is going to be worth it...

First of all I had some health issues and between meds and physical limitations gained weight and lost condition but I have some big goals and need to get back in shape to meet them... Looking to loose 50 + pounds (goal of 50 but may go farther once there depending on how I look/feel) and get back into the kind of shape I used to be in. Hoping maybe the charge HR will help figure out a balance between calories in versus my mostly VERY active life so I can loose weight and not starve!!!

My activity is very difficult to track during the day and I thought the HR function might help. I run a farm of 24 horses so lots of moving hay, feed, grooming etc. When weather is not in bitter cold like this lovely Michigan winter has been lately I ride often, Dressage mostly. We are planning tons of renovations so digging fence posts, re-building the barns, clearing brush/old trees, etc... I'm typically extremely active having spent a few weeks last summer wearing a pedometer and easily racking up an average of 20,000 steps in a day... In the past I've tried tracking my exercise but its nearly impossible to record 8 to 16 hours spent very actively through the day.

I also have a very strong family history of heart issues with my mother and my maternal uncle having several near deadly blockages beginning in their 50's and my paternal grandmother, maternal great-uncle and my maternal great grand mother passing in their 50's of heart issues... I'm 33 now and supposedly "healthy" but have considered if the heart rate monitor function could help me catch any issues faster and make showing the doctors something isn't right easier if it every happens to me... (I also have family history of cancer and a whole slew of other things that have stolen many family members before their 60th birthdays so while I want to live a healthy active life to my 80's as a few family members were blessed with I'm also not living life for later when I know only a third of my family has made it out of their 50's and not either passed or become severely disabled due to health conditions!!!)

I just bought my fitbit flex yesterday and set it up last night--when I should have been sleeping. emoticon I'm looking forward to the motivation of seeing just how little or how much I move and reaching my goals. Hi! I'm Sage. I got a Fitbit One back in 2012, lost It twice (Fitbit was kind enough to replace the first one), then I got a Zip...broke the case twice, and received a Charge this year for Christmas. I loved all of them but especially like the bracelet style (much harder to lose). Happy stepping!

I've been sitting on my stash of Christmas cash for awhile now. I decided to wait until I figured out what I really wanted otherwise it would get piddled away a little here and there until it was gone. I've been checking out a Fitbit for awhile now and doing my homework to decide which one to get. I just got my Surge today. I'm new to this so I'm figuring out how it all works. There is something that seems odd already. When I stand in place and swing my arms as if I was walking it gets counted as steps. Oh, well, at least I'm moving. I don't know if there is a setting to change sensitivity level, but I guess I'll figure it out. I think the fitbit will motivate me to set some goals for myself and move more. This is going to be a fun experience.

Hello everyone. My name is Kathy and I live in Lake Worth Florida. I have a fitbit flex and I love it. The main reason I bought it was for the sleep monitor. I have been having problems sleeping at night and I wondered if I have sleep apnea but have not been to the doctor to check on it yet. Then someone told me about fitbit. Well it is that but so much more. It is a challenge for me to get 10000 steps everyday. I just learned tonight that I could sync it with sparkpeople. now I am more excited about using it.

Hi Everyone! My name is Sandy, married, mom of two. I got the Fitbit Charge as a Christmas gift but after researching the Fitbits, I decided to hold out for the Charge HR. So, after waiting an agonizing 30 days they were finally back in stock and I exchanged my Charge for the Charge HR. I love it! I have used various pedometers before but never felt they were very accurate or giving me the feedback that I needed. I need that extra HR info to get the MOST out of my workouts. I have been a Sparker for a while and love SparkPeople but my new little toy has truly kicked my booty into action. I've had my FitBit for 2 1/2 weeks and I have loved every moment of it. My son loves keeping tabs on me too, he's my biggest cheerleader! I haven't synced with SparkPeople yet because I have read about a few problems. I'm just trying to keep it as simple as possible for now but will look into it further when I'm more comfortable with all the gadgety stuff. Here's to steps everyone!

I hope you always find a reason to smile.

Hey everybody! My name is Bob and I just got my Fitbit Charge last Wednesday. I'm having a great time with it, but I'm having difficulty reaching my step goal. I made it to 10,000 yesterday, but I've been stuck around 8,500 the rest of the week. In 2013 I had both of my hips replaced and I had been sitting around for 4 years before that. I gained a lot of weight and lost my drive to get up off the couch and move. I'm starting to get that back now and with this new tool, I think I'll get moving better and more often.

Hi I'm Kathy and started using my new fitbit flex in January. I mostly use it to track sleep but also steps. Since November I have been going to my local gym. I joined the daily 1 hr boot camp class. I've noticed that the fitbit doesn't accurately record my steps on the treadmill if I hold onto the heartbeat monitor handles. I mostly use the MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone to track my daily boot camp calories burned and that is linked to my fitbit.

I'm in this for the long haul and love working towards being fit again. It's been 20+ years since I've been fit.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sandy and I am new to SP & this group...I got a FitBit Flex for Christmas and absolutely LOVE IT! I've started off with a small goal of 5,000 steps per day and just increased it to 6,000 per day. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but I figured if I hit the small goals first it will keep me motivated to keep moving towards the higher goal of 10,000 steps per day emoticon

Looking forward to FINALLY getting back in shape!

Welcome to the team! The fit bits are pretty awesome no matter what one you use. I always notice that I get more steps when working so on my off days my steps decline. I love when my flex zaps me and lets me know I reached my goal

Hi everyone!

I just got a Fitbit flex last week. One of the 1st things I did was to leave it on my waistband and run it through the washer & dryer. Was sure it would be ruined, but it still works!

I am a tax preparer and sit at my desk a lot during tax season. I thought this my be just what I need to get up & move more often. Love it so far!

Just linked it to Sparkpeople this morning.

I joined Sparkpeople in 2009 & have used it off and on. Back on now & back on track!

Good morning! I have come back to SP after a lengthy hiatus. I have a fitbit Zip and a fitbit One. I have been using the One since getting it. I just discovered how to sync it to SP this week and am enjoying the benefits. Unfortunately I am not doing well getting my steps in. Walking isn't exactly new to me that's for sure but I just have trouble getting steps. I have signed up for the SP 30 Day walk challenge so hopefully that will help me. I am a 60 year old wife, mother and grandmother and love living! I left a job on my own decision in December that caused entirely too much stress. I am about to start a part time job with Walgreens and looking forward to the new challenge and hopefully it will also help me get my steps in as I move about the store! I look forward to sharing with you all and being a part of your group.

Hi. Got my first tracker ever. I bought a fitbit charge HR about a week ago. So far I really like it. I'm not sure if I trust the numbers though. I find it hard to believe that I am burning 2500 - 3200 calories, when I don't think I am all that active and I have gained 10lbs this past year. Does anybody know how it calculates calories.

I also noticed that it gives me about 15 steps every time I wash my hands. And since I work as a nurse, I wash my hands A LOT. I did a little estimating and I think it amounts to 600 steps or more per day.

But it is nice to compare between days and between activities and it does motivate me to be more active. It is nice to see where my heart rate is during walking, hiking, skiing, and workouts.

The sleep tracker can tell whether I am in bed or staying pretty still on the couch, but it can't accurately tell whether I am awake or not. On the average setting it thinks I am sleeping when I am lying still, and on the sensitive setting, it thinks I am awake every time either I or my boyfriend stir. So far it is off by 2-4 hours every night. But I can use the info it collects to make my own calculations.

About me in general:
I am 44, am pretty out of shape, especially cardio, have knee problems, and am 40-50lbs overweight. I have been working out at the local YMCA since August, and just started trying to eat better this week.

So far, I have been doing yoga, hand weights, core work, exercises like burpees, and walking. I am hoping to add swimming, and hiking hills. So far injuries are preventing me from doing stationary bikes, elliptical, and treadmill.

Hi! I've had my Zip for over a year. I love that little guy's face. I thought it wasn't working so I looked into other trackers. There's just something about having a personality a buddy with you. it's the best. Needless to say I fixed my Zip and we are back in action. I also enjoy that I can see the numbers. I'm loving the challenges they really motivate me. Glad to be here!

I have a fitbitone for a year and today I charged and wore my Fitbit HR Charge for the first time.
Love it, a little bummed because Sparkpeople tracker isn't recognizing it. I even went and cancelled the one and logged into fitbit and still no stepcount for today.

And it was a 12,000 step day, hey, I am doing for my health, but it helps to see the numbers.

Love my fitbit's, got my husband the zip and he wears it and it has increased his activity level.

Hi! I just recently got the Fitbit Zip courtesy of my insurance through work. I have been looking at them for awhile now and hope this helps motivate me even more to get more steps in my day. My first goal is to get 5,000 a day by then end of the month and then increase. I want to look better and feel better for my wedding next year. emoticon

Hey Mary, just wanted to give a plug to my son. He helps to run a farm to table restaurant in Barrington. If you have the opportunity, visit Table in Barrington. OMG!!! So delicious. It's a very small intimate place where most of the employees are graduates/students of Johnson & Wales. My baby is a 5th year student there and the clientele just love him.

Hi, I'm Mary and I live in Rhode Island. I have a Fitbit Flex, and it's very helpful for making me remember to keep my steps up. This past Sunday was a lazy day, and I realized around 1 PM that I had only taken about 900 steps, which is less than I do around the office on a work day. It motivated me to go to Planet Fitness and walk on the treadmill and get my steps up to around 6,000, not ideal but much better than 900.

Hi! I'm Kathy and live in snowy PA. I just got my Charge HR and am learning all the idiosyncracies of its communication with SP. It's only been 2 days and already I'm noticing that I'm getting credit for more steps than I did with the SPAT. I also notice that my calories on FT are WAY different than the ones I'm allotted on SP. Has anyone else had a similar situation and, if so, how do you account for the differences in your weight loss plan?

I got the HR because I'm interested in the sleep monitoring function and, so far, I think it will be very helpful. One thing I did notice . . . when I took my device off for bathing, it recorded my bathing time as sleep time and I had to go to my dashboard and delete it manually.

Looking forward to getting to know you and working together for success!

Hi . I am Cristina and I've been using my FitBit One since June 2014. Got it as part of our work wellness program and I've already won the first challenge (70k steps per week for 26 weeks) ; now week 8 of #2 challenge and doing great.

I'm looking to get the new FitBit Charge HR as I need a HRM and I just bought a treadmill over the weekend. WeeHee

I've been using Spark since Apr 2006 ; faithfully until early 2010, but randomly since them; my old account was deleted as per my request (as I couldn't change the email I was using with it and had to close that one, too).

I'm 34, am a travel agent / consultant and live in Europe.

Hi all, my name is Marti. I used to use a Fitbit Flex then I went back to work in a busy office last February and spent more desk time then fit time so my Flex wasn't getting much use. I finally gave it away to a friend who was interested in getting one.

Well, a few weeks ago, I decided I needed to improve my activity level so I bought an inexpensive pedometer. It didn't work to well for me, so I invested in a Fitbit Zip. I've had it about a week and love it, but think I'm ready to go back to a Flex again, so I'll probably upgrade to it. I really like that I can sync my Fitbit right to my Spark account. That's a nice improvement.

Glad to see so many others using Fitbit, too.
