New to Fitbit but I've been Sparking about 6 weeks. I'm about 15% to my first weight goal, primarily through just altering what I eat. I haven't been consistent about exercise, and I'm hoping that the Flex will help with motivation and accountability.

Hi, I am back on SparkPeople after a few years. I lost a good amount of weight before but gained it back. I am now using my Fitbit along with SparkPeople. I am in Houston.

Looking forward to seeing the results!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this group although I've had my Fitbit for a few years now. I'm just now getting back into wearing it. Hoping to get the newest version for Christmas this year! LOL! I'm a homemaker and business owner. I also have Crohn's Disease which makes getting 10,000 steps a day very challenging, as I spend most of my time at a computer and or in bed, if I'm not feeling well. I've recently moved and joined the local gym. I'm hoping this will get me some stamina back and help me get those steps in. I generally hit 6,000 steps by bedtime. I'd like to increase that number. :-)

Hi, new to the team! I have had my fitbit for a while but the charger stopped working many moons ago and I recently replaced it. I usually have a hard time reaching 10,000 steps a day. I'm in sales so I'm sitting a lot and have to stay near the phone but I'm working on making changes!

So I have the Fitbit One. I love that it connects to SparkPeople. I have had mine for a few years now. I usually get about 10-12,000 steps a day. Like to make some new friends if possible.

Hi, my name is Norma Jean and I have been a member of Sparkpeople for quite some time; however, I have not been faithful in logging in, reporting, and/or making myself a priority. My father was given two short weeks to live, four years ago, and upon receiving that news, I am retired. I quit my job to spend time with my father who recently passed away and now that he has moved on, I am primary caregiver for my mother and three year old grand daughter who was born with Spina Bifida. Did I mention that my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer the same time my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer? Nonetheless, I feel incredibly blessed and am now at a point in my life where I want to be very mindful and committed to my own health and well-being. I want to lose 20 pounds but I want to do it the smart way -- I do not want to diet and I do not want to fall into get quick skinny gimmicks. My goal is set and so is my schedule. Now, all I need to do is be true to it and to myself. I'm hoping by joining this team, you will help keep me accountable.

And I must say, I've been to Gettysburg twice and absolutely love it there. It's a wonderful town, with equally wonderful people and I can't wait to go back for another visit!

My name is Karen. I'm soon to be 36, I have three children 16,12, and 2. I have PCOS, Insulin Resistance and am prediabetic. I started going to Planet fitness with my 16 year old daughter about 2 months ago and am absolutely loving it. I thought getting a Fitbit would be a fun motivator for the days I just don't feel up to the task. So far, so good. I live in Southeast Mass.

Hi, My name is Kathy and I live in The Villages, FL. I'm 60 y.o., the mother of 2 adult children and grandmother of 4 who are the loves of my life!

I've been a member of Sparkpeople for about 10 years. I've had success, failure and something in between. With the help of Sparkpeople I was able to reach my target weight about 2 years ago. Since then, I've become a bit complacent and really need some help staying on track before my weight becomes out of control.

So, here I am. I know I must work harder at tracking my meals and getting my daily exercise to fit into my very busy day.

I'm hoping I can find support from kindred spirits here on Sparkpeople.

Thanks.

Hi there! My name is Tammy and I live in beautiful Gettysburg, PA (yes, where the Civil War battle took place).

I'm on my second go-around with SP. I had tremendous success with it back in 2007/2008 but went through a good deal of life changes and fell off the wagon. The point is, I'm back!

I just got myself a Fitbit Charge HR yesterday and so far I'm in love. Talk about a motivator! As long as the rain holds off, I'll be outside as much as possible. I can't wait to see my progress over time. Right now I'm still easing back to the program here at SP. I've been in full swing for about 2 weeks now with a loss of 6 pounds (we'll see if that's changed tomorrow).

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and wouldn't mind having some friends in the Fitbit community. So if anyone would like to add me, they can find me here: https://www.fitbit.com/user/4KFBJV

It looks like you can only add with an email address: imasillymomma@gmail.com

Have a great day!

My name is Kristen. I've been a member of SP for a very long time, but haven't been on for a very long time either. I recently bought a fitbit and bought each of my kids one as well. My daughter and I get a little competitive with our steps and active minutes, lol. Which was my intent. We up our step goal monthly and challenge each other most days. She usually beats me. I work in an office during the week, and I bartend on the weekends. So, I almost always hit my step goals on the weekends, and occasionally I hit my goal during the week as well.

Anyway, I'm trying to get back to being a more active spark member! Better late than never, right?

Hi everyone,
My name is Trina. I'm 34. I'm from Ontario (Canada). I'm a single mom of of 5 ages ranging from 3 to 14...4 boys and 1 girl. I just recently quit one of my jobs, 2 part time jobs plus selling Scentsy plus taking a course is just too much in order for me to pursue my dreams, so I let go of my safety net and now I have no choice but to succeed LOL.

Last month I bought myself an early Mother's Day gift...a Fitbit Charge (not HR). Found a great deal and just couldn't let it pass by!! So far so good...8 lbs down in 4 weeks!! I doubt I'll be able to keep up that sort of momentum for long but hey I'll take it!!

My long term goals are to eventually hit a healthy BMI. Even if it's the top range, I'd be over the moon!! Oh to be able to buy "regular clothes" again and not have to dish out the extra cash just for being bigger...and of course to be able to have a much larger selection without having to drive to the city to go shopping!!

My goal for right now is to get back into healthy habits again...starting with proper sleep. I truly believe that lack of sleep is what causes me to fail every time!! Also concentrating on water intake and increasing fruits and veggies. The rest I'll work on as I go. I have successfully "quit" pop (or as most of you probably refer to as soda) but I have to admit that I have one or 2 cans per week when I'm not at home and it's offered to me and I run out of my water before heading home.

I'm hoping to find some people that have a lot in common with me. Would love to have some friends to add on Fitbit. I hit on avg 5000-12000 steps depending on the day. Anyone within that range that would like someone to compete with send me a message and I'll figure out how to add friends LOL.

Hi there.

My name is Kaydt (Kate) and I have been using a fitbit for the last 2 or 3 months now and I have to say though it is only recently that I have been hitting my rather small step goal consistently I have managed to keep wearing it all the time normally I start getting irritated with things on my wrist or neck so this is a good sign.

I am going to be 28 this coming Friday and I finally had enough, I no longer want to be the person who always as to try and stand sideways in photos, or be the one who is acting happy when inside I am beating myself up. I have found a group in the challenges who are supportive and give me that extra push, in the end it is my desire to see that green line on the steps but it does help when you find that group that gives you that extra boost. Hoping I can find that here.

Kaydt

Hi Everyone,

I have been a part of this team in the past but switched trackers so had to leave the team but recently got a Blaze so I here I am again. I'm absolutely loving it ... I find it very interesting to try different trackers and compare. I stood by the vivofit2 and the features but am loving the Blaze just as much .. one feature I really love is being able to pause a workout if needed so KUDOS to fitibit for that!

Have a great day!

Hello Team!

I'm new to Fitbit and SparkPeople I actually received my Fitbit Alta last Friday and Joined SparkPeople at the same time. :) I'm taking baby steps but I really like a constant remind to think of my health. From alerts on my wrist, to reminders on my phone from SparkPeople to log in my food and water, I've been having a pretty good week so far. I just hope I can keep up my momentum.

I'm a Goddess.
A FitBit Atla Owner and I'm Hypothyroid.
Just working towards a really active healthy lifestyle.

Enjoying the journey. :)

Hi,

Hello,
I'm new to this team and have been a Fitbit user for over a year. I like to see my daily progress and attempt to outdo my best day. I have struggled with my weight for years and haven't been able to stay motivated enough to stick to my program. I just turned 47 and have decided that this is the year to make get serious and learn discipline and lose weight. I want to lead a healthy life and not feel so tired and frustrated all the time. I'm glad to be part of this team and hope to not only become motivated but to help in motivating others.

emoticon everyone!

I am not new to SP, but just received my Blaze as a reward to myself. I have gradually increased my steps, and just recently decided to kick it up a notch by increasing my daily goal from 10k to 15k. I also just recently learned of CharityMiles.org through an SP article, so that has also kicked up my motivation a notch.

To any of you who are starting out new....be patient with yourself and don't overdo it. One thing I did last year when I was just starting a walking program, I kept track of how many steps I walked at the end of each day on a pocket calendar. At the end of the month, I would add up my total number of steps, divided it by 2,000 to figure out how many miles, and then paid myself $1.00 for each mile (but you could choose any denomination). I opened up a separate bank account and started depositing the money in there (and purposely did not have a debit card for this account). At the end of year, I was so surprised at what I was able to accumulate and plan on using that money to either take myself on a really nice trip or even a shopping spree (maybe both! emoticon ). I actually started doing it again for the steps I've taken so far this year (though I may have to drop down to 50 cents or a quarter per mile since I've really increased my number of steps!)

Been on SP off and on over the years....had a fitbit for a few years now. Wonder how so many of you make over 10000 steps a day....I walk 2 miles or so and get in about 5200 steps....but with bad knees I hardly ever get to 10000...kudos to all of you!!!

Hello everyone. I'm Kelly. I'm returning to Spark People after a break because of craziness of life. Im stay home mom of 3 and we homeschool. I love my FitBit charge. This May I would have been using it off and on for a year. I am getting addicted to challenges especially during the week. My weekends are my break time. I try for my 250 + steps per hour for 9 hours and of course my 10,000 or more per day.

Hello. I joined Spark on 4/6 and received my fitbit charge for a belated birthday present on the 8th. I do love my fitbit. I find myself getting angry when I don't meet my goals. I guess you can say it is a love hate relationship. Only down 5 pounds, but I feel stronger.

Hi everyone! My name is Mari. I joined SP about a week ago and got my fitbit two days ago. I am a diabetic so one of my goals is to lose and maintain a healthy weight. So far I think the SP community is great and the support is awesome.

Hi! I am Rustie. I am a returnee to Sparkpeople. I have been on Fitbit for 4 months and lost 20 lbs. I am really competitive on it. Right now I have 4 competitions going on at once and only ahead on 3 of them. I am excited about this great team of support.

Hi everyone,
I'm Jonny, I like like romantic walks on the beach...oh wait, wrong profile. Haha
Been using the Fitbit HR since January and it brings out my competitive side. When work keeps me in the office I do 10-15k per day and when I have free time and doing challengenges I can do 25-30k per day.
Looking for new fitbit friends and if you live in the San Fernando Valley in CA you're welcomed to join me on a hike.
Feel free to add. I don't bite. And I'd I do, I've had all my shots.

Hello, Im Wanda. I have had my fitbit about 1 year. I have the Charge HR and love it. I wear it all the time. I primarily got it to track my sleep but have been pleased to track exercise too.

I have my daily step goal set at 5000. I want to get to the point that I can 10,000 a day without hurting but Im not there yet. I can definitely do 10,000 a day I just hurt all over the next day and have decided to back off and see how it goes.

I have downloaded a new walking/run app "Zombies, Run" that requires about 35 minutes of activity and makes walking a little more exciting. I get bored easily and have to keep it interesting.

Hi, I am Kittie and got my fibit charge for my birthday tomorrow. I have been a sparkie from 2012 but only got serious since 12/10/2015. I love biking and walking with my dogs, and look forward to the journey to a healthy lifestyle. I am on a spring 5% challenge and hope this tracker will keep accurate activity tracking.

Hello everyone. I am a former Spark Activity Tracker user but I have either lost or destroyed two of those so my husband bought me a Fitbit for my birthday (03/28). emoticon I promise I'll do everything I can to hold on to this one. It's not a fancy one, just the little clip on kind but that's what I'm used and I'm a watch wearer so I didn't want to have on two watches. If anyone has any advice or suggestions on how to maximize the benefits of owning a Fitbit feel free to let me know. emoticon

Hey all! New to this group, or newly active I guess. Been using my Charge since January. I love having it. I just let it do my activity tracking for me, so I will see how that goes.

Always looking for buddies and friends. I will be 43 in a couple weeks, and though my brain says no, my body has decided to remind me I've been around 4 decades. I have about 40 pounds to lose, so this will be a slow process.

Happy Workouts everyone!

I don't care how many detours this journey has, I WILL get there!

Hi everyone! I just joined this great team. My name is Janet and I live in northern New Jersey.

I was very involved with Sparkpeople about ten years ago and I have returned! I am a former daily fitness walker who turned into a sometime walker a couple of years ago.

I bought a Fitbit Charge a couple of weeks ago to help with motivation. So far I love it and find it to be very motivating. I would also like to lose about 15 pounds, or lol maybe 20. I want to stop the weight gain before it turns into more.

Every day is an opportunity to make a new happy ending!

HI! I'm Christie. I'm a new FitBit user and, though I've been with SP for a long time, I've been away. I have recently attempted to get back to a healthier lifestyle by going drastically back to nature. i bought a 26 acre farm in the most rural area of Georgia and am working off my city fat that way!

All of my fitbit steps and activity are just the daily fare for living on a farm. I do it all without really even breaking a sweat, so far. Of course, I have not changed the default settings, yet, but I wanted to get an idea first of what my standard activity really is.

After more than a week of use, I'm ready to step it up! I've already lost several pounds (though it won't show on my counter since I'd gained some after my last time starting). I lost about 12 pounds since I moved to my farm.

Wish me luck! I have 46 pounds to go.

Hi, I'm Charlotte and new to this group. I live in Florida, mother of 2 and grandmother to 2 with a 3rd on the way. I will be 50 soon an desire to get fitter. I did personal training for about 8 months but could no longer afford it. I joined Planet fitness this Jan.

Hello. New to fitbit but so far loving it.
I bought mine because I am having a difficult time with my health right now, Lupus, hypothyroidism and fybro.
I am a 44 year old mother of two amazing young adults, married for 22 years and have always been very active, healthy even though I was diagnosed at 13 with lupus, 26 with hypothyroidism. I worked out 4 to 5 days a week ate healthy, and volunteered 4 days a week. I loved life.
Then 4 years ago it all stopped. My lupus came back with a vengeance. Depression, steroids and not being able to move well that sucked. I went from wheelchair to walker now cane, I need to move more no matter the pain and my daughter bought a fitbit and I was very interested in it, thinking this would help me if I could see I was getting up and the steps I was doing would motivate me. So I bought one and like I said love it so far. Sorry so long, thanks for reading it.

Hi everyone! My name is Tina and I have had the charge for a little over a year now. I started at about 3,000 steps and made it to 20,000 daily, but now I'm averaging about 11,000 steps daily. I am trying to get back to 20,000 and I think this team might just help stay motivated to get there!

Hi All, it's my first day with a fitbit (charge) device and I think I'll fall in love with it pretty soon ;) I mostly walk and start modest jog :)

Hey all, when I linked my new fit bit to my fitness tracker, I got added to the team, so here I am. I just finished my first 7 days back on Sparkpeople. And its been interesting. I added my little fitbit charge hr device halfway through the week, so super excited to see how my numbers add up throughout a whole week! I was shocked how much I moved, just with my job. My steps are gonna have to go through the roof when I am ready!

Good morning all. I just got the new FB Blaze, and just starting to get back into Sparkpeople. I've been a member for YEARS, but not very faithfully. Although I've lost (and kept it off)100+ lbs, I find myself struggling now to find new ways to keep myself active. Looking to join a group that's all about movement. Right now I hit about 8,000-12,000 steps a day through daily activity and workouts with a low days of 5,000-7,000 on the weekends. Hopefully I can reach my goals of no less than 10,000 on weekends and 15,000 average on any other given day.

Hi all! Kat here. 37 year old mother of one with around 50 lbs to lose. I just got my FitBit yesterday and I'm super excited to start using it! I'm from the suburbs of Chicago and a member of SP for about 6 years, but not a dedicated user. Really hoping that this time I stick to it. Also hoping my competative nature kicks in while using the FitBit!!

Hello, my name is Linda and happy to be among other FB'ers. I got my Zip last Christmas and been loving it thus far. I reside in NC and love to strength train at my local gym. I will soon be starting HIIT :-) :-) so I know my steps will increase dramatically. Thanks for having me on your team and God Bless. :-)

hello Fitbit users,
My name is Kitty, I'm 62 sedentary, bad knees, and obese. My hubby joined a challenge at work with the copper fit and because he was one of the first 150 to sign up he got a free FB Charge but he likes the copperfit better so I got the fitbit.

I've been on SP for 8 years and haven't lost any weight so I decided I need to quit fooling myself that I was doing all I can. I need to work HARD every day and quit making excuses for my failures at my diet. I've been watching "My 600 lb life and it really makes you aware of your own excuses and how hard it must be for someone who weighs double what I do but they do it so why am I not doing it? They're younger than me but their body's are suffering even more than mine and they keep after it. I need to feel that desperation. 62 doesn't give me many more years to go before this is fatal.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

I've been a long time SP member but in January I really started buckling down to get healthy. I've been doing great and yesterday I got a Fitbit Charge HR for my birthday. I'm sure this will prove to be a very useful tool since I have discovered I have a bit of a competitive nature, at least when it comes to competing with myself! LOL

Looking forward to meeting others here and finding some Fitbit friends!

Hi everyone! I've been a SP user (off and on) for years but got a FB Charge HR mid-January. My FB alone has helped me lose 15 lbs but I'm back at SP to help lose more. I LOVE my FB and I love all that FB and SP have to offer! I have a lot to lose and a lot to tone up and I think I'm finally ready to tackle this mess of a lifestyle I've created..so I'm here for support and tips.

Hello! Brand new fitbit owner and user! I'm probably posting wrong, as while I've been on sparkpeople for a while, I've not been an active user. So forgive me if I've posted wrong!
I'm from Indiana, 30 years old and the mother of two children under 3! Working hard to get my steps in and definitely noticed an increase in motivation when I can actually see the numbers on the fitbit! Hoping I can keep up the momentum!

I agree that if new to moving (and Fitbit) 10,000 steps is a little too high of a goal when you have a sedentary job and not sured to moving. I set mine to 5,000... at least for awhile. I'm averaging about 3500/day right now.
