Hi, my name is Charie, 65 years old and DO NOT want to be an old lady. So, I recently bought the fitbit and I'm taking charge of my health. Just this a.m. (4 a.m., I work night shift, RN) I figured out how sync it with Sparkpeople. I was on this site in 2009 lost weight and have proceeded to regain it. Silly Woman!!!! I fell a year plus ago and fractured my spine. Two weeks later, had gall bladder removed and pancreatitis. RUINED my core totally through all this and gained weight. I seriously went to rehab and could not feel myself contracting my abdominals. I'm back and the plan is to get this stuff off once more and keep it off!!!! So here I go!!!! (need to drop 70ish lbs.)

You may not think you can reach it.
Climb anyway.
You may not think you'll be heard.
Speak anyway.
You may not think you can change things.
Try anyway.

Hi everyone,

I have always struggled with my weight, and then after being on high dose steroids for a few years to control my immune system I ballooned up. I've been battling losing the weight since I got off the meds in 2011 and just keep going up and down. I added my fitbit as an effort to help keep me accountable, remind me to move, and also build consistency. I've had it about a month now and absolutely love it. I have the FitBit Charge HR. It is awesome.

Hello all. I am Michele and I am making a commitment to me, to get healthy. For me this means loosing weight and getting my A1C back down by controlling my daily food intake and seeing exercise as a positive thing. I have mental and emotional sludge that has contributed to my self neglect so it is a daily choice to overcome the negative and see the benefits of caring for me. All this is easier said then done when there are a lot of demands on me so I hope to set support and help staying on track with this community.

I have only been using the fitbit for a month or so but find it very helpful and positive. It is a nice reminder that I have a goal and encourages me to strive a little harder. emoticon

I've just returned to SP after coming out of retirement for 3 years, and as of yesterday, returning to retirement! New user name - new start. Work stress and I don't mix well - I regained so much weight and just didn't want to start all over again with my old username.

I have a FitBit Flex - have had it nearly 2 years. Except when I got a bit of a rash on my wrist, I have worn it every day. I love it.

Hi! I'm Chris, I've had my Fitbit Zip x 1 month. I love it and I'm hitting an average of 12000/day. Unfortunately, it stopped syncing to my phone and I can't get to the computer with the dongle until tomorrow. I hope is an easy fix, b/c I this breaks after a month, I'm not getting a new one, and I loved it so for the past month.

Hellloooo :-) Someone added me to your group here, and i am glad they did. I just purchased my first fitbit one yesterday. At first i thought it was "not all that", but as i used it today, i can see why everyone who has one loves it. There are just a couple more things i need to figure out, like the sleeping mode and why SP doesn't record the same calorie burn that is recorded in my unit. I started at 354 lbs, I'm now down to 222. I've used a treadmill all this time until recently when i sold it and got an elliptical. It turns out the elliptical is too big for my short legs and now is an expensive coat hangar. So i just got my One, and i made a huge non scale victory today by taking a walk over 2 miles long around the neighborhood and enjoying my One - something I've not done since just after high school. Thanks for having me here!

Btw, if you send me a private message with your email address (or vise versa), I would love to add you as a Fitbit friend.

I purchased a Fitbit Charge today. I had a Spark Tracker and lost it. I was starting to build an exercise habit and I enjoyed the feedback. I had to call Fitbit and have a support person walk me through the installation because of my internet virus protection. I haven't actually done in exercise yet but I think I'm going to like the tracker.

I'm Linda. I just put on a fitbit this morning. I gave it to my husband for his birthday but he won't wear it so now it's mine! I have a Spark Activity Tracker as well. Comparing them should be interesting. I wanted to use the fitbit so that I can track my HR when I am exercising outside.

I have been doing Spark since early February and have lost 33 pounds! Hopefully, having this new tool will add motivation to help me down the stretch towards my big goal of 52 pounds lost.

We all get 24 hours a day. How we use them is up to us.

Thank you! Yes smaller and short term weight loss goals are best, in my opinion. Thinking of that far out number can certainly be daunting but breaking it up makes it so much easier mentally.

Starting weight: 309.4
1st goal: 10.4 pounds, 299 by July 2, 2014 (met June 25th)
2nd goal: 30 pounds- 10% of remaining weight, 269 by October 15, 2014 (met September 24th)
3rd goal: 27 pounds- 10% of remaining weight, 242 by January 7, 2015 (met January 28th)
4th goal: 24 pounds: 10% of remaining weight, 218 by April 29, 2015 (met May 6th)
5th goal: 22 pounds: 10% of remaining weight, 196 by August 19, 2015

Hi everyone, my name is Bonnie. I've been on Spark People for almost 13 months now and FINALLY got a fitness tracker. After listening to others regarding their SPAT or other fitness tracker, I decided a Fitbit was for me. I chose the Fitbit One and love it so far. I have only had it for one day. I love how active I am now after over a year of good habits and seeing the actual numbers (steps/distance/etc) it truly amazes me!

I babysit my almost 4 & 3 year old nephews full time while my brother works. I am working on becoming a coach for others losing weight in some form or another, so hopefully I can make that happen soon! Other than that, I don't really have much to say right now but am looking forward to reaping the rewards of my Fitbit and anyone is welcome to add me on here!

Hi, I'm Sandy. My sister bought me a FitBit Charge as an early birthday present a couple of weeks ago. I'm really enjoying it and still trying to figure out all the ways to use it to help me get fit. I am married with 2 daughters - one in college and another in HS. Walking is one of my favorite activities, so I'm hoping to be able to stay on track with this and finally lose the weight.

Hello,

I've been a SPARKPEOPLE member for many years (intermittently these past few years). I initially lost 30 lbs and then gained quite a bit of it back while working on my undergraduate studies and working (excuses, excuses). Well now I'm headed to Graduate school in the Fall and I'm devoting this summer to getting back on track again & stay that way.

1. Log in my food intake to hold myself accountable to what I eat.

2. Use my fitbit to hold myself accountable to how much I actually move & how much sleep I get.

The fitbit and SPARKPEOPLE are an absolute fantastic pair of tools to use together.

I just purchased the fitbit as a gift to myself as my birthday is this month. Best gift I could have ever given myself.

Go fitbit users unite!

Hi, I'm Alisha. I've been using my Fitbit ChargeHR since January. It has been keeping me on track in steps, for sure. I have a pretty busy lifestyle, and with two dogs who demand walks each day, I do manage to meet my goals pretty easily.
I also have three children, ages 14, 13 and 11. I'm trying to lose at least 20 pounds, and I know my diet choices are getting in the way. Hoping to hold myself a little more accountable by coming back to SP.

Hi! I received a Flex Fitbit for Mother's Day and love it! Going to give one to my husband for Father's Day on the weekend as our two girls thought that was a great idea.

Hello from Sunny Florida! My name is Laura and I live in the Northeast area of the State. I'm a long time member of SparkPeople who developed issues after running multiple 5K's and Half's and then sort of went seriously off-track. I've had a Fitbit for awhile, but have not used it to its full potential and I plan to change that starting today. I would appreciate anyone's assistance in motivating me to reach my goals.

My name is Sruli, and I've been an on-again off-again member of Sparkpeople for a while. I've also had a Fitbit One for years. I work from home on the computer all day and have had some difficulty with motivation. My son is getting married in a couple of months and I decided to try to re-Spark myself.

I got a treadmill desk last month and have been gradually working my way up. My original goal was to walk about 10k steps per day, which was a lot for me. Lately I've been hitting 15k most days, though you can't mistake what I do for cardio. It's a lot better than sitting, though.

I've got in the vicinity of 80 lbs to lose; so far I've lost about 9 lbs in this past month. I've been watching what I eat and recording it on Spark (and syncing to fitbit.com of course). I'm very new to these forums and haven't generally participated. I'm doing this now so as to have another reason to stay motivated.

I too just got my Fitbit today. How do I make spark people track my total calories burned and not just the exercise feature?

Hello everyone!! I just bought a fit bit charge last weekend, and really love it so far. It has made me more mindful and aware of the amount of exercise I do every day. It also has been encouraging!! I got one for my husband as well, and he has finally started to use it!!

Hello everyone. I'm Angela and I just bought a Fitbit Flex a little over a week ago. I am quickly falling in love with it. It is helping me to stay active over the summer while I'm out of school.

Hi, I'm Tamara. I received a Fitbit Charge HR for my birthday (which was yesterday -- I turned 26), and I LOVE it! I've been wanting one for awhile, and it is definitely delivering on the motivation, encouragement, and accountability that I've been needing. If anyone is looking to link up as Fitbit friends, feel free to send me a SparkMail with your email address, and I'll send you a request. emoticon

Hello. I just bought a FitBit today. I bought one for my husband a couple of months ago and he loves it. I've been using a Jawbone UP for nearly a year and it just died so I replaced it with a Fitbit. I'm completely sold on these activity trackers.

Hi everyone! My name is DayZee and I've been on Spark for about 5 or 6 years now (is it sad that I don't know off the top of my head..?) I think. I was in this team before but then I restarted my account and left a ton of teams that I wasn't really logging in with. I adore my FitBit though so I wanted to get back into walking more plus I have a few friends outside of Spark who use FitBit so I want to make more friends (this time on Spark) who will motivate me to walk more. I have slowed down a bit so I need to amp it up again.

Nice to be a part of the team again!

Hello,
My name is Twila and I've been off and on SparkPeople for almost 5 year. I have a FitBit One and I love it.
I was injured a little over a year ago (intercostal muscle strain and fractured wrist). Sidelined but ate as if I was active. Result -- weight gain. Need to get refocused and recommitted to a healthier way of living again.

Hi, I'm Diane and I live in a small town in Southern Virginia. If anyone has been to, or lives in VA then you know its very humid this time of year! I've had my Charge HR for about three months and I totally love it. It keeps me motivated even when it feels like its 100 outside! I don't normally have a problem getting in 10,000 steps each day and my highest day so far has been around 23,000. My goal now is to get 12,000 per day. Hopefully being a part of this team will help me do that! Good luck to everyone!!! Lets get this walking/running party started!

I have the faith in myself to become the person I want to be!

Greetings,

I'm Irene and I've been hooked on fitbit since 2012. I'm a Southern Californian living in Houston. With all the food adventures available at my disposal, I gained about 20 lbs. after 4 years of moving out here. Since I've gotten my fitbit, I've lost 10 lbs. through inconsistent exercise. I'd like to lose the other 10 and then some so that my thirties will start on a healthy note at the end of the year.

I look forward to cheering you on in your health endeavors and including you in my ongoing fitbit journey. Please feel free to add me: https://www.fitbit.com/user/246QRC

Hi, I am a 50ish (😉) year old Breast Cancer survivor. Believe it or not, I gained weight on chemo. I was recently diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. So it's past time to get the weight off a get healthy. I have a lot to lose. I've set a goal of 5000 steps a day.

Hi, I am new to Fitbit but also not new to sparkpeople. I have multiple sclerosis and I am hoping with all this tracking (and change to health) will help me feel more energy. I am open to any questions and I at times will also have a lot of questions. I want to eat more healthy as I use this tracking. What have others notice since they started tracking?

I also am trying to go to the gym at least twice a week, on good days I want to do three times a week. I cannot push too hard as my symptoms will heighten.

I want to change my eating habits. But I am finding it hard to find recipes that cost me an arm and a leg every time I go to make them. Any ideas?

Hi! I am new to fitbit, not so new to SP. I've just never truly used it like I should or for the amount of time I should. I'm excited to be back on here and to be a part of this group. I literally just got my fitbit yesterday. It was an early birthday present to me. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and for the group support.

Hello,

Sparks returnee. Lost over 40lbs for my wedding in 2011 and have gained much of it back over the last 3-4 years.

Back on Sparks and got my Fitbit for mother's day. Took a few days to get used to and understand how to link Sparks to the Fitbit but now loving it. A big motivator for me.

emoticon I just started wearing the Fitbit HR a few days ago. I love how it tracks my calories. I'm just confused about the amount of calories I'm supposed to consume. I think it's too much. I do burn a lot of calories, if I eat what it is suggesting, I'm afraid I'll regain the weight I've lost.

I've been on spark people for a while, but it seems like it's finally coming together for me In the past few weeks. I hope you all have a great day.

I have been on spark people for a little while now and I have been tracking more in the last few months. This includes food and exercises. I wanted a more accurate calories burned so I have now invested in the Fitbit Charge HR, which should be here next week. I am hoping that it will help and let me understand if I am actually burning the calories that I am supposed to be. I have been overweight for some time and I have a wedding in a little under 5 months and I want to look my best and fit into a dress without having that dreaded tummy. I also am trying to get back into shape and be healthy all the way around. I live in northeastern oregon so I have little temptations to fast food (a plus), have several trails I can hike (another plus) but I am not as active as I want to be. I haven't been able to hike but I am on my way there. I have dealt with allergies and asthma and I am getting that under control but for now I am starting out small!!

hi All, I am Karen Corson I have been using my fit bit for quite awhile now, I have a One. I shoot for 10,000 steps a day. If anyone wants to add me as a friend I love to do challenges, daily, weekly and weekend. I would love the push!!

I had one I wore on my write last year but I broke out with weird boil like things and I didn't know it was from the fitbit till after I had a biopsy done and they kept going away and reappearing... weird! Took off the wrist fitbit and wrote fitbit and they sent me this ONE and I returned that and I havent had one break out since!! Never had a break out where it actually touched my skin.... def weird!! But I love this thing!!.... keep on keeping on!!

Life is what we make it. We all have had things happen to us. If we let them define us, they win. We can be who we want, when we decide we want to be in control.
