Hello everyone! I just got my Fitbit Flex today (an early birthday gift to myself) and excited that it syncs with SP!!

My name is Michele. I am from a small town in eastern Iowa, where I teach Spanish. I will be married 25 years in November and we have 2 adult children (a junior and freshman in college). Yes, I am an empty-nester.

I have been a pedometer-wearing walker for YEARS, but I think it has gotten to be old hat. I don't feel that urge to walk more like I used to. I'm hoping all the bells and whistles of the Flex will "spark" that interest again!

I have been following Weight Watchers for a month and have started to see the scale going down. Now, I can use this new "toy" to continue that path!

Looking forward to getting to know many of you! I welcome fitbit friends

Hi everyone!!!! I just got my Fitbit Zip in today and can't wait to start using it tomorrow!!!! I read great reviews and everyone seems so motivated using it. 10k steps seem like a lot, but I know I can do it. Looking forward to this support group!

Hi Fitbit users emoticon It's not easy making 10k when you're working sitting, but I'm doing it. I walk in front of my apartment after it cools off in the evening. I really want a treadmill before winter because...winter. I stayed 2 weeks at a hotel in July and the treadmill was one of the best perks ever.

Hi All,
My name is Alyssa and I just turned 24! I bought my Fitbit flex a week ago and am still getting used to the differences between SparkPeople and the Fitbit. I've lost over 50 pounds since my journey began last September and would like to lose at least 50 more. I've been in a rut for about four months where I haven't lost anything, but have been maintaining. I bought the Fitbit to see if could help me get out of this rut! Let me know if you have any tips!

Thanks,
Alyssa

Hi everyone, I'm Derek, just got my FitBit Zip last night. I work overnights, so I use my two 15 minute breaks and my 30 minute lunch to 'powerwalk' around the building, and the FitZip became neccessary, as I want to keep track of everything more accurately than I have been.

Was 235 4 weeks ago, now down to 226. Looking to get down to 170 by Jan 1 2016.

Hi All ... I'm a current member Weight Watchers. At my heaviest, I was 266 ( I'm 5'11" ). I eventually made it to an acceptable weight 190 ( by my doctors standards ). Two yrs ago, My I fell off plan and gained 40 back. Currently, I'm back down to 206 and struggling to get these final 15 off.

I'm not on any challenge as I'm still getting to know the website. I've been in the forums and groups, joined one,and still lurking, looking to see which are the most active.Hopefully, this will be the extra motivation I need to get the job done.

John

Hi, everyone. I'm glad I found this team. I bought a FitBit Zip several months ago and as soon as I get up I clip it on. I love tracking my steps and it has provided the motivation to walk a couple of times a week before leaving for work. I'm beginning to love the 5 a.m. walks. Town (Tyrone, PA) is quiet, birds are singing and I get to watch the sunrise.

My goal is to get in 10,000 steps each day. Most days I meet my goal unless I'm riding my bike. I'm looking forward to getting to know the team members.

I joined spark people last summer, but never got going with my weight loss. I have been on and off my fitness pal for three years, and it was very insightful to see how my weight had yo yo'd. I purchased the fitbit because I had some amazon gift card money, just started using it, but I like that it syncs to my fitness pal. It is somewhat tiresome to log in both places

Hi. I have been a spark member since December 4th when I decided to begin this new adventure of living healthier. I used a sparkmeter but it fell apart last weekend, so I purchased a fitbit. I do not know if I am sync'ing yet but I hope to.

Hello, I'm new to Fitbit as I just received mine yesterday and signed up for it. I'm glad to see it has a link to Sparkpeople! I have been on Spark for a little over a year. I started out strong and kept tracking my food and fitness and when I slacked off doing a good job at both of those things, I slacked off from Sparkpeople. Just trying to find my motivation again and get going strong. I was able to lose 25 lbs last summer without any fad diets or expensive exercise equipment. I gained about 10-12 lbs of it back over the winter. Even though I feel like I'm starting over, I have the confidence in myself because I've shown myself I can do it. I like Sparkpeople for the motivation the members provide. I read mostly the articles under motivation. I thank this website because the feeling of having to do this alone can be overwhelming. Knowing there are several people going through or that have gone through exactly what I am is encouraging. I know this was a lot for an introductory but hey, I needed it!

One day at a time!

emoticon Hi. I've had mine for a couple of years now and I, too, love it. I have the FitBit 1. It clips onto clothing. I tied a narrow ribbon on it, made a loop and put a safety pin on the loop. If I am wearing pants with pockets and belt loops I can just loop it through the belt loop and then into my pocket. Otherwise I just secure the pin somewhere it can't be seen and clip the FitBit wherever it will go. I don't worry about it falling, or getting knocked off and lost because of the tether.

I managed to do 10,000 steps about 2 years ago, then I stopped. I'm now working back up to it.

It is a good motivator, along with my dog who needs to be walked! emoticon

Well hello. Returning to Sparkpeople after a few years of stress eating. The Fitbit has been so helpful. I love reaching the buzz of 10,000 and am committed to doing that as many days as possible. I haven't taken the time to learn to sync the fitbit and spark trackers. Putting in the daily steps has made it easier to eat healthier. Working too hard to eat junk. I'm walking the treadmill and Precor machines to get most of my steps in. I enjoy reading your stories for inspiration.

I've been a SparkPeople member for quite some time but not active for a couple (several?) years. I'm back.

I have had a fitbit for about 3 years at least and love it-except that it takes a lot of pressure for my arthritic fingers to get the display going (I usually use something like a spoon handle rather than a finger/thumb). I love it. Especially the number of steps and sleep records. After using it and a snoring monitoring program for my phone I talked with my doctor about my sleep issues. Everyone told me I snored, and I never felt rested upon waking up in the mornings. An "official" sleep study showed that I have mild to moderate sleep apnea and I now have a C-PAP that I use every night. It really makes a very positive difference in the quality of my life.

I did get up to 10,000 steps about a year ago but have to work up to it again. Food and exercise (the usual mantra) are most definitely key to my health and weight. I look forward to being successful, for the rest of my life, this time.

I love the support and friendship I find here. Rock-on SparkPeople!

Just ordered my first Fitbit (Flex). My phone tracks my steps, but I don't always have my phone with me so I am looking forward to the Fitbit.

Hi! My name is Emily. I've had my fitbit for almost a week now. I'm loving it! I have a job where I am on my feet most of the day and have found that most days I hit 10,000 steps before the end of my work day. I have not yet met my goal on a non-working day. While I haven't yet made the goal on a day off I have wanted to see my steps go up so I do try to add some steps in. I made it a goal that any time I go shopping that I walk the perimeter of the store before beginning my shopping in hopes of adding more steps. I know I'm much more likely to do small things like that than keep up with a plan to go to the gym or walk or run a set amount each day. I'm really loving the fitbit feedback.

I bought the Fitbit Flex today, and am finding that the goal of 10,000 steps a day might be within reach - if I mow the lawn daily, and walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes. Wow. I had no idea I was so sedentary!

Hi friends my name is Dany, I'm 43 and I live in South Jersey (lifelong Philly girl), I just yesterday received my Fitbit Flex and I'm super excited about using it. I participate in the Susan G. Komen 60 mile 3 day in Philly and would like to pay more attention to my miles. I'm hoping the Flex will eventually sync with my phone, lol...we'll see!

Please feel free to add me as a friend on here or Fitbit, I can use the motivation!! ;)

Hi Everybody,

I'm Pat. 67 years old. Retired RN. DH and I are planning a LONG trip in our RV starting in July and lasting till next April. I got my Fitbit flex from QVC. They had a deal going on and it seemed like a good time for me. I also just (2 days ago) got a new laptop so I'm learning 2 new devices at the same time. Don't have a Smartphone. So its laptop all the way.
I have 2 knee replacements and walking is my main exercise although I also go to exercise/resistance classes 2 X week and yoga on Fridays. I might call myself technically challenged.

Hello! I am Heather, HP, Y, or Lavndrlady. I am from VA. I had bought a fitbit somewhere near the beginning of the year and enjoyed tracking but then stopped. I am just starting to get back into it as well as back on sparks for support.

Hi team. Dianna from Chicago here, looks like I'm now part of your team. Got a FitBit today and currently charging it up and setting up the dashboard on FitBit. Did follow instructions to connect FitBit and SparkPeople. Tomorrow will be first day using it. I do all my tracking thru SparkPeople and wonder how to get that data (food/weight/blood sugars/exercise/etc) to transfer to the FitBit. Guess this will be a learning process just hope the whole process does not stress me out.

Hi
So I did it - I bought the fitbit ones for me and my wonderful husband, it's only day three and we're both tracking our food and walking more...hopefully we'll keep it up - we have a LONG way to go!

Yes, I've been wearing both the SPAT and Fitbit Zip for about two weeks - on the same foot right next to each other and there is always, always a difference in results tracked. I do plan on calibrating my Fitbit (as I did my SPAT), however I am only using the Fitbit right now - so whether or not the tracking is close between them won't matter.

I am a new fitbit flex owner. I have the Spark Activity Tracker but wanted to also track my sleep. I think I have sleep apnea and was curious on how often I am restless at night. I often wake up tireder than when I went to bed! I wore it for the first time last night and it showed I was restless 4 times.

I wore my fitbit and my SPAT today because I wanted to do a comparison. I was shocked at how far apart my results are. Fitbit shows 7,539 steps and my SPAT shows only 5,780 as of right now. I read on the fitbit website to change my settings to show I am wearing it on my dominant wrist even though it is on my non-dominant and that will make it less sensitive. I hope that works!

Has anyone else worn both the fitbit and the SPAT? If so, did you also notice a huge difference in your tracking results?

I just bought a new flex after trying some other options. Have a goal of 25 pounds by October. I am tracking every thing on Spark and am looking forward to my progress with Steps. I sometimes forget to move at work so I hope wearing my red flex will remind me.

Hello fellow Fitbit users!

I successfully lost 28 lbs using my Fitbit, but my last 10 lbs won't budge. I joined SparkPeople for extra support and encouragement. I am so happy that there is a Fitbit Team!

Hello everyone! My name is Melanie and I'm from the East Coast ... I got my fit bit from best buy today after finding out how a family member is enjoying theirs these past few months. I was logging everyday here on spark people until finals started and fell off the wagon.I got this to really shove in my face how much I'm doing throughout the day. Good luck everybody!

Hi, I'm Mary, living in England and new to the team. I got my FitBit yesterday so am learning how to use it at present. Bought it mainly for tracking my sleep, I already have a pedometer which has served me well so far. I'm waiting to see how FitBit compares to my pedometer when exercising.

Taking two steps forward and one step back is still progress!SP

Hello! I'm new to the team and just started using my FitBit Flex yesterday. I had been wanting to try a FB out for awhile now, but it wasn't until I found out that I could get a Flex through redeeming some Airmiles that I went for it. I'm really looking forward to using it to track my steps and sleep patterns and using it to keep me more accountable. I've lost and gained the same 10lbs the last couple of years even though I have a larger goal.

Hi. My name is Kelly and I live in the suburbs of Chicago and use the Fitbit One. I also have the Fitbit Flex that I used before I started babysitting but it was hard to wear with an infant. Now that he's older I may go back to it.

Since he's crawling I have been putting more steps on. I'm sure once he starts walking in the next month I will have even more.

Hi everyone! I'm Erika, I live in Chicago and I was at goal about 8 months ago. Then the worst winter basically ever happened, and I simultaneously lost all motivation. I'm now 27 pounds above goal. I'm looking to get my running style back, especially in time for my 2nd half marathon at the end of August!

Just received my Fitbit Zip today (I'd had a SP tracker but lost it recently) and I'm looking forward to getting started with the new Fitbit!

For me it is the exact opposite even though I too have a desk job. I don't drink coffee, so when I have a 20 minute break in the morning I go for a 20 minute walk. We have an hour lunch break so I walk for about 45 minutes at lunch. I go walking year round, except on days that it is really icy or if we are having thunderstorms that are close. I have a raincoat and rain pants so I go even if it is raining. On the weekends I don't have that routine and I am more at the mercy of what my husband wants to do- and that usually does not include walking!

Hi,

My name is Hol. I live in upstate New York. My goal is to get 10,000steps a day. That is easy to do on weekends. Hard during the week because I have a desk job.

Anyone have this problem?

Thanks,

Hol

Hi all you FIT folks. I just got my Fitbit on Friday and am getting schooled on how to use it. A little about myself. I'm mother to 6 wonderful children and 9 grand grandchildren. We do have a great-grand baby on the way. Excited to say the least.

Am trying to work really hard to shed 45-50 lbs so that I can spend as much time with all of my family as the Lord will allow. Love Spark People and am really looking forward to working with this Team.. I definitely need your help and support. emoticon emoticon

I just won a fitbit in a raffle. Now to see how it works. I haven't put any goals in yet - just getting used to wearing it and figuring out what my "normal" day is like. Crazy that I get woken up 15 -16 times a night. I knew it was some, just not that much. I have always thought of myself as active (I am an experienced distance runner and bicycle rider), but these more recent pounds won't go away.

Hey Sparkies! Just got a FitBit for my birthday today :) Anxious to use it for the first time and love the fact that it integrates with SparkPeople! My name is Carolyn and I'm a mom of 4 including a 3 month old baby girl along with a 17-year old son who just graduated high school, and 7 and 4 year old girls. Been married to my hubby for a little over a year but we've been together for 6. I've been at this several times now and every time I've gotten pregnant so I had a tubal done about 4 weeks ago and decided it's time to do this for real now. I've lost 10 pounds in two weeks and for the first time in my life actually working out at the gym. Now with my FitBit, I'm hoping this will put me right where I need to be. Looking forward to working out with all of you :)

Hi I'm Jenn. I just got the fitbit one a couple of days ago and linked it with my SP right off. I have loved SP for a few years and recently got back in the habit of using it and love the fact that I can incorporate my fitbit with it.

Hey I'm Lindsey. I have had my fitbit for awhile but just picked it back up and found out I could sync with Spark. Originally set up spark for the recipes. Just now starting to really use the tools.

I got my Fitbit One about 6 months ago and only recently figured out how to sync it with SP.

I also have a Spark. Although I think I calibrated my Spark the same as I did my Fitbit One, my Fitbit One picks up way more steps than my Spark. In general, for every 1000 Spark steps, my Fitbit picks up 1100 steps. My Spark is attached to a shoe and my Fitbit is attached to underclothing. Perhaps trunk or arm movement increases the counts on the Fitbit.

Does anyone have any experience with more than one activity tracker and number of steps they track with regard to where they are worn?

I just found out how to link my fittbit to SP. I have been double logging everything, bummer. They should have those links in the intro. I have had a fitbit for a little over 2 years. I was out for awhile with health issues, so I didn't use it for several months. I started using it 4-6 months ago. Then, the end of April I came back to SP. This will make it much easier to log, I hope. Glad to be part of the team! emoticon
