I'm excited to pair fitbit and sparkpeople. I have to admit I don't own a fitbit yet...but I'm getting the data from my iPhone and have linked it to the Fitbit app. I'm loving it so far and am very happy with the way the Fitbit app knows what I've eaten and shares my exercise with SparkPeople.

Hi all! I'm Lisa. Recovering from a total hip replacement and osteotomy. The surgery was 4 months ago, and I've healed quite well, but still have a long way to go. I'm wearing my fitbit to keep track of how many steps I'm taking. I started with a goal of 1500, and am now daily doing around 3000-4000.

Hi, I'm Jane from Knoxville, TN. This is my 2nd day with my Alta HR. Already I am seeing trends with my sleeping habits, as well as realizing even on work days I do more steps than I realized. Can't wait to see what the stats are when I can actually exercise.

HI, I'm Renee. I'm from Cleveland! I've had my Alta for about 2 months now and I really love her. I've been back on SP for a couple of weeks. I'm hoping to lose a lot of weight, but I've already been down 25lbs, so it feels good.

Hello, I'm Collien from Salem, Oregon. I'm new to Fitbit, but an old-time Sparkpeople user. I got my Fitbit Charge 2 yesterday and am learning how to use it.

Being a senior with pain issues, I am not looking to be a super active person, but want to be a bit more active while making sure I don't have sleep issues while keeping track of my heart rate and making sure that I keep within a reasonable range of steps for my age and health.

A lot to learn while trying not to get too compulsive with my new toy. Happy that it works with SparkPeople and excited to be here!

Blessings,
Collien~~~

Hi, I'm Kimberly.

I'm new to the team but not to Spark.

I recently started using one of the Fitbit models. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this one or switch to a different one.

I walk, dance, lift weights, and I'm working myself up to running again. I'm planning to try some different group classes at my gym since they have introduced a few new classes and instructors.

My goals are pretty modest. I'm trying to stay active, get stronger, and lose the weight that I've gained.

Looking forward to being a part of the group and participating in challenges.

HOPE: Holding On, Praying Earnestly...from Guidepost Magazine

I'm working my way back to the size I want to be.
On a journey for strength and good health.

You don't change but charge your Fitbit. It should let you know when it needs charging. Mine sends me an email that my Fitbit battery is low. At that point, I put it in the charger for a couple of hours. It lasts a couple of days of not longer depending on my daily steps.

Hello~ New to fitbit; just received it on Wednesday evening. I'm still trying to figure it out. I think my battery is dying and not calculating the steps properly today. I did well Thursay and Friday by getting over 10k steps.

At what point do you change it? A week? Two weeks of hitting your goals? And then how does one change that? Is there a video for it on fitbit.com? If so I can look it up.

I look forward to getting to know fellow fitbit users and hopefully becoming friends and spark each other to do our best.

Hi, I'm Dee-have had my Fitbit One for a while and really like it. Just needed a really basic model after I lost my SparkTracker that I really liked using. Budget was a concern also and some of the newer models with all the bells and whistles were just a little too beyond my cash flow. So I've set up a "new FitBit" fund so when I'm ready to upgrade, I will be all set.

Hello, Nola here. I live in Chiefland, FL and have had my fit bit flex for nearly a year. I love it. It sure keeps me moving. I am being pretty consistent with the 8000 steps per day, there are some days, where my knees just don't wanna, but for the most part, I'm happy getting over 5000 steps. God Bless and Keep Moving!!

I have gone through a few trackers in the last 5 years. The Spark Activity Tracker, Jawbone UP, Jawbone Move UP, and now the Fitbit Flex2. I have lost some, some just broke. I hope I can take better care of this one.
I have been with Sparkpeople since July 2008, lost 175 lbs. and have been maintaining my loss for the past 6 Plus years.

I have been wearing a Fitbit since Christmas. It has really helped me be aware of how active I am not sometimes! It really helps with tracking my fitness this time around, I don't always have time to enter my activity. It is making this attempt at loosing weight feel like it will be successful. It has been a week of tracking and I have lost 3.4 pounds. It is small but it feels good.

God Bless

Greetings! I've been wearing a Fitbit for a few years, I'm already on my second unit. I found SparkPeople while trying to dig up a diet program I had been on 13 years ago. I found a healthier alternative program and, with SP, found the motivation and commitment I needed to turn my health around.

Hi all. New fitbit user not to SP. I got my fitbit for Christmas but just now really got into checking out what it can help me accomplish. I have a fitbit charge 2 really happy with it. Can't wear it to bed though. It makes my wrist raw where the tuck goes so I just wear it when I wake up til i go to bed. I already know I sleep awful it has told me so too. LOL

Enjoy your day. Sounds like the storm is back. Better get going before the power goes out again.

Hi Everyone
Hoping to get more involved. Been on Sparkpeople for a number of years and trying to get back into the swing of things! Sometimes easier said than done. With that said......

Loving my Fitbit Charge. Had a zip years ago and then went to the Jawbone. Like the Charge much better. Hoping to rack up the miles too!

Hi Team. My name is Nancy. I've had a fitbit since last year and been on SP for years on and off. I love my fitbit it helps me keep track a little better. The only problem I still have is my eating habits. My weight is like a yo yo every year without fail. I just need to get a hold on my eating habits. Everything will fall in place. I do eat healthy but sometimes stress gets me. Glad to be on the team.

Hi Fitbit Team!
My name is Jaime, and I've had my fitbit since last Christmas. I have to admit that I'm addicted to it emoticon I just started running and I've been pretty good with exercise and being active, but I'm struggling with my eating habits so I joined SP for that extra motivation and all the great tips.
It's nice to join you all emoticon

Hi team. I'm Barbara and have used a Fitbit for several years. At the moment I'm using the Charge HR and love getting all the feedback. I find it to be a great motivational tool. I struggle with multiple sclerosis, migraines, fibromyalgia and am a breast cancer survivor. I've never actually been obese, but have yo-yoed a lot through the years. Most recently as I got to what I presumed would be my goal weight, I had some issues conspire to take away my appetite and for some reason many things now taste differently and not so appealing. So, I went quite a bit below my goal. I'm now at the lower edge of healthy and am a little concerned that if I get sick or injured again I could definitely end up in an unhealthy place with weight. I shattered my right wrist on Valentine's Day and had surgery to piece it back together a week later. It is still quite painful. Some of the bone fragments had already died so they were removed. The surgeon called me Humpty Dumpty after he covered what he could with a plate and 12 screws. The smaller wrist bone is still not together and can be quite painful if I put pressure on it. If it doesn't come together in another three weeks I may need to have more surgery to repair that one, too. While in a lot of pain and learning to do everything with my left hand I dropped more weight. I don't recommend this tactic for weightless!. Anyway, here I am. Now I strive to stay close to where I am --- a few pounds more or less. I've been active on Spark People for a long time. I took time off at one point, but when I had time I came back as I love the encouragement and to encourage others.
I've been married 44 years to my best friend. We have two grown married children and five grandkids aged 5-14. I feel so very blessed and thank the Lord each day for all the blessings he showers into and through my life.

Becoming the healthiest me that I can be.

Hello ya all ! My name is Becky I'm new to the group ,I've had my Fitbit since Feb 17 this yr.ive tried to connect it on SP but t couldn't figure it out. My knees are bone on bone I need operation but Drs won't do it until I get weight off. Plus same thing with needing surgery on my neck.i needed something to help motivate me since I have no support at home so Valentine's Day my hubby ordered my Fitbit charge 2. I love it .anyway I was only doing about 300-500 steps a day but I've started losing weight since January 3 ,this yr. as of now I do over 5000 steps a day and 2 days last week got up to over 8000 this is a motivator for me plus I fight thru the pain in my neck and knees daily ,but no one can lose this weight to have my surgerys but Me . I want to get ideas of what I can do to help encourge me to try harder. Please food ideas, low impact exercise recipes. You can add me to your Fitbit if u want to motivate me.My family in Illinois is all obese I want to break our family cycle of obesity I'm going back home in June and I want them to see a difference. I've lost 42 lbs I did gain 3.2 lbs this week which was upsetting to be cause I did everything right I even walked more. So glad to be apart of Fitbit team

I can do all things thru Christ . I'm leaning on Psalms 23. I'm taking one day at a time. And God is bringing me thru

Hi, my name is Sharon. I've been on SP on and off since 2009. I started using FitBit last year and am very much in love with it. I am now syncing it with SP, wish it could add my food entries from SP to the Fitbit so I don't have to enter it twice. Looking forward to interacting with this team. Have a great day!

Going to be successful with SparkPeople and my Fitbit!!

Hi my name is Dulci. I have been on SP and a FitBit user for years. I've recently been much more consistent with my FitBit since joining some StepBets. I highly recommend them! My most recent one started yesterday and goes for the next 6 weeks. It will be my third and I haven't lost one yet. I also just finished my first DietBet, but didn't quite make my goal on that.

Hi, I just got my fitbit charge in the mail yesterday, but I've been on SP for years. I was using the Jawbone UP 24 till now and loved it, but I wanted to get an upgrade. My name is Jennifer, I just turned 42, married, and have two boys that are my world and biggest motivation. I've got a lot of weight to destroy, so I'll be here for awhile :-)

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we 'd grab ours back.

Hi all. I've been on and off SP for years and years and I've had a Fitbit for years and years. If you haven't guessed, consistency is a problem! But I often tell myself that it isn't quitting until you stop trying; my progress is just full of hills and valleys. I love the Fitbit and have found that connecting with others and doing Fitbit challenges gives me a lot of motivation and keeps me moving each week. I enjoy connecting with all of you and maybe adding some new friends to do some challenges with.

Hi, I've been with Sparks for quite some time but have just realized that there is a connection with my Fitbit here. I will have to find out how to navigate my way through it all. I am most active with the RV Enthusiasts team.

I will check back in and see what all is going on here.

Hi! I'm Mary Ellen. Been on SP for a long time but new to Fitbit. I used both a Jawbone UP 24 and UP 3, but had problems with both. Initially tech support was great but with the last problem I got nothing so I stopped using anything (I had a SPAT as well but they stopped syncing with SP) I found I really needed the motivation (and the points!!) of a tracker. Just figuring out the features of the Fitbit, but I am pretty sure I will enjoy using it.

Hi All,

My name's Karen, I got myself a fitbit after I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, as I wanted an easy way to keep track and save data on my movement, heartrate and sleep. Since getting ill I've put on a lot of weight (almost right back to where I started a few years ago when I first joined) so am back on SP again sorting myself out ;) my physical activity is dictated by the CFS so I I have a relatively low step aim of ~6,000 a day and otherwise am focusing on eating well and getting the right nutrition.
I love my fitbit, I had the charge HR, which developed a fault after a year and John Lewis replaced it with the Charge 2 which is even better and charges very quickly! Though I do have to watch out as it racks up steps whenever I'm stroking the dogs!

Hello all. I've had my fitbit for a while now but am just getting back to weight loss. I'm returning to sparkpeople after 4 years of being away. My husband and I both have a fitbit and are in this together so I know we can't fail. I wish everyone luck on reaching their goals.

Just got my Fitbit One in today's mail. Got it to replace my Up Move after the second one died (company replaced the first one, not going to bother with customer service again). I'm recommitting to being active, eating healthy and losing weight after I did my company's health screening. Overall bad numbers on everything from blood pressure to blood sugar.

Sylvia - Have you registered your Fitbit on the Fitbit website, before you sync it with Spark? You need to set up your Fitbit account first and then, I found it synced with Spark easily.

Hi, my name is Jill. I guess I joined this group automatically when I set up my fitbit charge 2 to sync with sparkpeople yesterday. Anyway, good to know this team is here!

I'm a 46 year old apprentice pipe fitter and live in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California. I've been on the out of work list for three months and decided to take this time to get into better shape. I know once I get back to work, I'll be thanking myself. lol. I had a cheaper version of the fitbit about a month ago, but decided it was too unpredictable and decided to upgrade. So glad I did.

Marcy - I love my Fitbit Zip. I got the additional watchband when I ordered mine, and usually wear it onmy wrist, but I have found when using the a shopping cart or anything you hold onto that it doesn't record so I use the clip and attach it to my clothing at those times.

To sync it to Spark People, you need to go to the Fitbit sight and register it there and set up your account, and then go to Spark People and follow the direction for adding it there.

Hope that helps.

My name is Marcy and I am 64 years old. I am interested in getting a Fitbit but am totally confused. Any recommendations on which one I should get? I went to the Fitbit site and took their test and came up with the Charge 2. I don't really understand the sync to Sparkpeople thing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello Everyone...My name is Jenny. I have had my Blaze for about 6 months. It is the best fitness investment I have ever made. Definitely motivates. I will be 50 in July and would love to lose 20 lbs by then. At my age it is difficult. I eat healthy about 90% of the time and exercise everyday. I usually get anywhere from 10000 - 15000 steps a day. I strength train, do cardio, walk the dog and stretch most days.

I refuse to give up and grow old.

Hi everyone, I guess I was automatically added to the team when I synced my FitBit with SparkPeople. I have a Zip given to me by the exercise physiologist at my hospital. I am trying guided weight loss as a pre-cursor to weight loss surgery - I am hoping I am successful enough with the guided weight loss that I can forego the surgery, but it is also a prerequisite to the surgery.

I am a 30yo librarian and PhD student, so as you can imagine I spend a lot of time at a desk. I was incredibly out of shape when I began this journey. My first steps to getting healthy were taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and I needed to use the handrails as well as taking breaks to catch my breath. I have since gone from 1500 steps per day to 7-9k steps per day. I still have a long way to go, but I am grateful to the exercise physiologist for giving me such a wonderful incentive.

Hello everyone, I'm Jenny from Minnesota but currently living in Czech Republic. I recently decided a fitness tracker would be the way to go, so my husband gave me his old (bought within the first week of release) Flex and I fell in love with it...and then it gave up on life. lol So today I got a brand new shiny Alta and I'm already in love. I know it's going to only increase the positive changes I am making to my lifestyle.

I currently have about 53lbs to lose (over half way to my goal) and enjoy biking, walking, running and coffee drinking! Nice to meet everyone!

emoticon and I love the pic of the kitty, I'm still just trying to lose weight, I can't seem to move the scale, trying anything to lose a little, it's very frustrating and then on top of that when I went to my Dr. he starts telling me there's no reason I should be this heavy. I'm ready to just give up.

Hello! My name is Melanie, and I am a new member on this site but not so new to the weight-loss fitness journey.

I had lost about 48 Ibs last year, of July 2016. Before that- I was at 185 lbs, which was the same weight I've been carrying for almost all my life. Losing 49 lbs is the most weight I've ever lost. Unfortunately, I've been side tracked with other things in life which made it very difficult for me to maintain and improve my weight-goal. Yes... I gained some weight back.

I didn't gain all of it back but I am still disappointed and would like to take this opportunity to get back on track, maintain a long term healthy lifestyle, get more involved in groups and hear about other people's journey. Hurdle free weight-loss or not, please feel free to share your story!

Have a great rest of the week!

Good Morning .. I have sort of a crazy question with regards to Daylight Savings Time ...

My son and daughter-in-law gave me my Fitbit Charge 2 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and Eric set it all up for me including time zone. So when I woke this morning I found that my Fitbit had automatically changed time for daylight savings time. However ...

I am a competitive person and always have been. So if I can get stars or "atta-boys" or whatever for hitting goals then I want them. My Fitbit is set to remind me of the 250 steps per hour and I have it set for 10 hours and want, no maybe need to see those bight red dots when I hit the hourly goals.

The Fitbit did change for daylight savings but somehow my reminders are still an hour behind. For example ... it is currently 12:20 CST where I am but my Fitbit says I am on the step goal for 1:00 PM and I did not get my 10:00 am step goal.

I am so confused.

Terri

Mel - It sounds like you have the same problems I have. I do well for awhile, and then, bang, I start nibbling a little here and a little there, and the weight slips back on. I am trying to concentrate more on getting more workout time in, and the Fitbit helps me there.

Good Luck.

Hi everyone! How are you doing? I have been a part of the Biggest Loser Challenge on Sparkpeople a bunch of times here and there, but I didn't sign up for this last one and I wish I did. I lost about 15 lb before Christmas break, but gained a few back over the break and then gained a couple more on my vacation a couple weeks ago. I went down to around 136 lb, but now I am around 142 lb. I don't mind being at this weight, but I lost my daily exercise routine and I need some motivation and accountability to get back into it. We bought a treadmill in January and I use it off and on. I want to use it at least 5-6 times per week. Also, I do good with food most of the time, but I find that I cheat a few times per week and I need to stop doing it as often. Anyhow, I came here to share some of my goals with you and hopefully meet them. :) Have a great night!

hello,

I've been lurking here for a few weeks as I learned how my Fitbit worked and getting used to the new SparkPeople.

I hurt myself two years ago and as a result, I have lost a lot of mobility. I find the Fitbit very inspiring. I can press myself to do just a little more each day. In just a month I have seen an increase of 15%.

I use a Fitbit Blaze and my biggest complaint is that I can't wear it in the pool for aqua therapy. :-)

Cheers,
Kecia

Hi everyone my name is Barbara and I got my fitbit at Christmas...I'm still trying to figure out how to maximize it for my fitness needs. I originally ordered it because I needed a watch that had silent alarms since I work for the local sheriff's office as a dispatcher and we aren't allowed our cell phones ( got dinged on that for my alarms for my medications). As I researched it I found this was going to be good for that and to help me exercise when I was released after having knee replacement. I am still trying to figure out how to add friends to my tracker so we can encourage and challenge each other. I'm excited to get to know everyone.

It's always darkest before the dawn...it will get better!

Hello Fitbit team! :) I am new to this group so thought I would say hi. My name is Jessica and I just got my new Fitbit. I love it! I am going to be turning 40 this year. I try my best to stay active and love to hike. I do need to lose weight though. My biggest challenge has been eating too much. For some reason, I overeat at dinner time and get hungry too often. I have to talk myself out of going to the snack machine at work. I also have a desk job and try to get up and move around my desk area some, go for walks around the building, or up and down the stairs. Good luck to you all!
