Hi Everyone,
My name is Lexie, and my Fitbit Zip arrived this morning. Been playing with it all day, and watching the little face change according to what I did or didn't do, which was really cute. I struggle with a variety of health issues that can rather knock me sideways at times, so the Fitbit is a gift to myself for 300 consecutive days of walking a mile a day with Leslie Sansone for my fiftieth year. My MaD year. :-) Only 65 more days to go till my birthday and I can finally sit down.
emoticon
I live in the UK - Colchester to be precise. A beautiful town, the oldest recorded in Britain. We have a couple of lovely parks within walking distance where I can test my Fitbit (now named Zippy - what else?) out.
Good to meet you all, and thanks to those of you who have already friended me on the Fitbit website. :-)
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Hi FitBit Team. Although not new to SparkPeople, I am new to FitBit. I am from Washington State (not DC), and live in Vancouver USA (Not BC and not Portland Oregon) - yes, we in the 'couve have a bit of an identity crisis. My goal is to walk my 10,000 steps a day, which is challenging when you work at a desk job. I know, excuses excuses. I am being involuntarily retired very soon, so I hope that me and my Schnoodle can reach our 10,000 step goal more often in the very near future. Go Seahawks!

Hello everyone, my name is Nate. I am new to the group so let me address the questions for new members. How am I doing, I would say that I am going great. I live in North Carolina but I am originally from Chicago. My fitness goals with my Fitbit are to see how many steps can I get to in a day. Currently, I have 23,000 steps in one day badge. How did I hear about Fitbit, I work for BCBSNC and the organization was giving them away so I took one. The rest is history. Letís enjoy the rideÖoh, and by the way, I do love my golf.

Hi team! Been on Spark for 4 1/2 years now. Reached my goal weight and all was well until I had a foot issue (or two) that required surgery. Twelve pounds later, I knew I needed to do something to reignite my spark. Someone was explaining their footnote to me at a Spark Rally, so yesterday, I bought and set mine up. Liking it a lot so far and anxious to learn more. Looking to add friends as well, but not sure how.

I got a Fitbit for Christmas last year. I didn't like it too much at the time but now I'm loving it. I like having a goal of getting my steps in daily. It makes me want to move more throughout the day. I also workout at home. So once my workout was done I moved less during the day. I have 2 friends on my Fitbit but I could use more😀

Just got my fitbit yesterday and wearing it today. Have worn a pedometer for last couple of years and after losing my 2nd one decided to "bite" the bit. Have been on SparkPeople since 2009 I think. Finally got serious and dropped 20 useless pounds this year after following fatloser.com link. Have kept it off for the last 3 months and ready to tackle 10 more. Will probably restart fatloser.com regime (21days) to kick it off.

I love SparkPeople and have many amazing friends. Happy to join this team.

Hi I am new to Sparkpeople and i joined because i like to run and keep fit but sometimes i lose motivation. Earlier this year April i ran a 10k for the 2nd time and i felt a lot fitter for doing it. but since then i have lost momentum. Anyway someone told me about the fitbit flex and how it can motivate you. check out what others are saying about it if you are undecided like i was. emoticon

Bravo Pat. I just bought my Fitbit a week ago and like you I have to lose the weight I have gained. So far my Fitbit has been quite a motivator. I enjoy walking everyday and if you want to be challenged visit the FITT site. I love it.

Hi, my name is Pat and I have been on Spark People for 2 years. Even though I log in everyday to Sparks, I have been lax about recording my food. I was down 45 lbs, but put it back on. I just got a Fit Bit for my 60th birthday yesterday, and am hoping that it inspires me to move more.

Hi my name is Paula and I live and work in Hong Kong. Now that my oldest daughter is 10 I really have no excuse and I can no longer get away with talking about: "it is just the 'baby fat'". As I want to set the right example to both my girls: eat healthy and make exercise part of your day I joined SP and just a couple of days ago bought the FitBit One. I really need the encouragement and the ability to 'measure' my progress. At this moment, even though I am eating healthy I am not loosing any weight so seeing the steps being counted throughout the day makes me continuously aware of why I am doing this and makes me think twice when I really crave some unhealthy snacks.

My user name on Fitbit is: https://www.fitbit.com/user/2V62YF

Please feel free to befriend me on both Fitbit and also Spark. I really need the accountability but also love to keep others accountable too.

Hi everyone!
I got my fitbit in June and just stumbled onto SparkPeople yesterday. So far, I like it. :) I quit smoking last year, so I first need to lose the weight I gained when that happened. Then...I can set another goal to keep losing. :)

Hello, I am Joce. I have know Sparkpeople for quite awhile. Although not faithfully using it, I love the site, their articles, their trackers, and their community .

I just bought my first Fitbit last Monday and I love it, love it, love it. This is a great gadget and a great motivator. I have entered several challenges at FITT and I am more motivated than ever. I don't believe I have walked this much in the last 10 years.

Tic toc, Tic toc, walk faster around the block.

I have been using Sparkpeople since January but got a fitbit for Fathers day and have been using the Fit bit site for all my tracking. I just came back to sparkpeople today and found that I could use my fit bit on this site.

I like Sparkpeole better. I think it's easier to track food and I like the reports.

This is the year

Hi I am Elaine from Oregon. I have been on Spark a few years.. My fitbit is presently lost so until I discover what I did with it I will just walk without it. My gal is 1000 steps. I belong to a gym and plan on doing that three days a week and the other two walk. It is fun to see what everyone is doing. I am blown away at what ROCKMAN has accomplished. What an example for the rest of us. emoticon

My goal is to lose 20# by Christmas. emoticon Than I would like to go to Hawaii when I reach my all time goal.

Hi I'm Jess from PA. I have had my fitbit for about a year now and have been on Spark longer than that. Just today I realized that I can sync the 2 together!!! Man am I out of loop or what?? I started out with a goal of just 6000 steps and now have a goal of 10000 steps daily that I reach almost consistently. I recently had Gastric Sleeve surgery and have lost over 90 lbs so far and still going!! emoticon emoticon

Hi! I am Nancy from Michigan. I have about 75 pounds to lose. Been a member of Sparkpeople for a couple of years without much success. Hoping the combination of Fitbit and Sparkpeople will get me to the healthy lifestyle I desire. Howdy! My name is Marie and I've had my FitBit for one whole week. I was actually looking for a new bathroom scale when I ran across the FitBit scale and thought "why not"? I am currently fighting tonsil cancer and thyroid cancer and was looking for a better way to track my daily exercise anyway for a Head and Neck Cancer study I'm taking part in.

I was already using SparkPeople when I was diagnosed in January, so I continued using the food planner to make sure I got enough calories and protein during radiation therapy, much to the delight of my medical team. Now I'm working hard to get rid of the rest of my extra weight, eat healthier and exercise every day. I've lost 80 lbs so far this year and less than half was "assisted" by my treatment. The FitBit has been really effective at encouraging me to walk when I don't feel like it, take the stairs, and park at the end of the lot when I get groceries. I just think about it now! emoticon

Hi! I am new to sparkpeople (joined yesterday). My new years resolution for 2013 was to lose weight and get my health under control. Since then I have lost over 100 pounds. I could have lost more, but I fell off the diet wagon so many times. I joined sparkpeople hoping that tracking my food will help me stay on track this time. My new motto is "If I eat it log it". I also purchased a fitbit to help keep me motivated. I was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the spine and hips. I also have neuropathy, but I am determined to keep moving.

Hi, I just picked up a Fitbit Flex at Costco, and thought I would give it a whirl. I come from a family of gadget lovers.

I returned actively to SparkPeople at the beginning of June. I am patiently waiting until tomorrow to see Fitbit in action. I generally walk at least 120 minutes a day (although much is light intensity).

I am a LONG-TIME SP user, been here off and on since 2006. I have been here this time around seriously since February. I bought the Fitbit Flex so that I could have a visual reminder of what I need to do to keep making it happen...and I LOVE technology. :-)

Glad to be here.

Hi! I've been at sparkpeople for awhile but I have been lacking motivation. I've heard how good of a motivator the fitbit is so thought I'd give it a try.

Hello everyone! I just got my Fitbit Flex today (an early birthday gift to myself) and excited that it syncs with SP!!

My name is Michele. I am from a small town in eastern Iowa, where I teach Spanish. I will be married 25 years in November and we have 2 adult children (a junior and freshman in college). Yes, I am an empty-nester.

I have been a pedometer-wearing walker for YEARS, but I think it has gotten to be old hat. I don't feel that urge to walk more like I used to. I'm hoping all the bells and whistles of the Flex will "spark" that interest again!

I have been following Weight Watchers for a month and have started to see the scale going down. Now, I can use this new "toy" to continue that path!

Looking forward to getting to know many of you! I welcome fitbit friends

Hi everyone!!!! I just got my Fitbit Zip in today and can't wait to start using it tomorrow!!!! I read great reviews and everyone seems so motivated using it. 10k steps seem like a lot, but I know I can do it. Looking forward to this support group!

Hi Fitbit users emoticon It's not easy making 10k when you're working sitting, but I'm doing it. I walk in front of my apartment after it cools off in the evening. I really want a treadmill before winter because...winter. I stayed 2 weeks at a hotel in July and the treadmill was one of the best perks ever.

Hi All,
My name is Alyssa and I just turned 24! I bought my Fitbit flex a week ago and am still getting used to the differences between SparkPeople and the Fitbit. I've lost over 50 pounds since my journey began last September and would like to lose at least 50 more. I've been in a rut for about four months where I haven't lost anything, but have been maintaining. I bought the Fitbit to see if could help me get out of this rut! Let me know if you have any tips!

Thanks,
Alyssa

Hi everyone, I'm Derek, just got my FitBit Zip last night. I work overnights, so I use my two 15 minute breaks and my 30 minute lunch to 'powerwalk' around the building, and the FitZip became neccessary, as I want to keep track of everything more accurately than I have been.

Was 235 4 weeks ago, now down to 226. Looking to get down to 170 by Jan 1 2016.

Hi All ... I'm a current member Weight Watchers. At my heaviest, I was 266 ( I'm 5'11" ). I eventually made it to an acceptable weight 190 ( by my doctors standards ). Two yrs ago, My I fell off plan and gained 40 back. Currently, I'm back down to 206 and struggling to get these final 15 off.

I'm not on any challenge as I'm still getting to know the website. I've been in the forums and groups, joined one,and still lurking, looking to see which are the most active.Hopefully, this will be the extra motivation I need to get the job done.

John

Hi, everyone. I'm glad I found this team. I bought a FitBit Zip several months ago and as soon as I get up I clip it on. I love tracking my steps and it has provided the motivation to walk a couple of times a week before leaving for work. I'm beginning to love the 5 a.m. walks. Town (Tyrone, PA) is quiet, birds are singing and I get to watch the sunrise.

My goal is to get in 10,000 steps each day. Most days I meet my goal unless I'm riding my bike. I'm looking forward to getting to know the team members.

I joined spark people last summer, but never got going with my weight loss. I have been on and off my fitness pal for three years, and it was very insightful to see how my weight had yo yo'd. I purchased the fitbit because I had some amazon gift card money, just started using it, but I like that it syncs to my fitness pal. It is somewhat tiresome to log in both places

Hi. I have been a spark member since December 4th when I decided to begin this new adventure of living healthier. I used a sparkmeter but it fell apart last weekend, so I purchased a fitbit. I do not know if I am sync'ing yet but I hope to.

Welcome new members!

Don't waste your time with "could've," "would've" or "should've." Focus on "can," "will," and "do."

Time will pass no matter what .... will I be closer to or farther from my goals

Itís not that some people have willpower and some donít. Itís that some people are ready to change and others are not. Finally, I am ready to change!

Hello, I'm new to Fitbit as I just received mine yesterday and signed up for it. I'm glad to see it has a link to Sparkpeople! I have been on Spark for a little over a year. I started out strong and kept tracking my food and fitness and when I slacked off doing a good job at both of those things, I slacked off from Sparkpeople. Just trying to find my motivation again and get going strong. I was able to lose 25 lbs last summer without any fad diets or expensive exercise equipment. I gained about 10-12 lbs of it back over the winter. Even though I feel like I'm starting over, I have the confidence in myself because I've shown myself I can do it. I like Sparkpeople for the motivation the members provide. I read mostly the articles under motivation. I thank this website because the feeling of having to do this alone can be overwhelming. Knowing there are several people going through or that have gone through exactly what I am is encouraging. I know this was a lot for an introductory but hey, I needed it!

One day at a time!

Hi, I was a SparkPeople user before but got sidetracked and am now back at it! I didn't have a Fitbit before but do now! I love how it records my steps automatically when I log on! I don't have to do a thing. I love my Fitbit.
