Thank you, Roses17, Darlene, Wendy, and Jean, for the warm Welcome. So Sorry, if I have left anyone out--will catch you next time. :-)

Yes, they did tell me there is no cure, that is why I was surprised by the GFR going up; really expected it to go down.
Having a little problem navigating around this site as there is sooooo much info out there.
Probably my eyesight is hindering me a little too because I shouldn't try to get on in the evenings as my eyes are very tired by this time and staring at a small screen thru bifocals is not easy. Eye appt. on Aug. 2nd.

I'm looking forward to getting on the site in the morning and seeing if I can make a menu and shopping list. Love how you can track your weight, too. I filled out the fitness thing but don't see anything at the bottom of my note yet.
I go to Curves-for Women, most every day. Getting my strength back slowly. Love it there.
I know this site is going to be very helpful as it is so nice to see hints from everyone, that you wouldn't even think of. The itching especially. I have an itching that I've noticed I do and never realized it maybe contributed to something. But I have to keep itching/scratching all along my ears and ear lobes. Anyone else notice themselves doing that?
Will check back in the morning. Night All!! Bobbi

Thanks for the Birthday Greetings!!

Hi Bobbi,
Happy Early Birthday!
We are so glad to have you - we are a great team who offer helpful info on how to love your kidneys.

Do not be surprised that your GFR rose - it can do that. You can improve and maintain your kidney disease - through your nutritional choices. I was also told once your kidneys have chronic kidney disease that the disease can only be maintained not cured. (I am not going to confuse with my case right now....) we are all different and have different "special needs" per our own bodies and medical needs.

I think that it is great that you have a specialist and a a dietitian with kidney classes!
May you find much support and helpful info in our forums.

Thank you team! for being such a wonderful welcoming committee!

Welcome Grami,

Hope you find the info you need on here to help you build them up. Mine were 44 and I
got my last reading at 56.

It is a constant battle to eat and drink right. I only drink water now, one coffee in the morning.

Let us know how you are doing and how we can help.

Hi Everyone, my name is Bobbi and I will be 72 in about a week. I live in Az. and found out I had the dreaded Kidney Disease about 4 months after my DH passed away. Been battling the Diabetes front since 1996, cut way down on red meat and was eating very healthy and exercising until DH started going downhill with his parkinsons. I also went downhill and thus had to start with the diabetic pill and then also ended up on high blood pressure medicine.
Seeing a nephrologist was a sure-fire wake up call. Now, I have to be more specific about taking care of myself. "It's down to the details, now!! I have a lot to learn and my DD told me she found this site and I should join and gets lots of help/support in all ways. Thanks, JuleeQue!!
Not a dieter, so I have to brainwash myself that I want to eat this way! Haha! Very confusing to eat one way for being Diabetic for so many years and then have to eat another for the kidneys, but I will try. My GFR was 44 in April, saw the Specialist in May, went to the Dietician and first kidney class in June. And had another blood test first of July and my GFR rose 2 points to 46. Surprised me, as I thought it could not get better, once damage was done. What am I missing, in understanding this point system?
This is long enough for now, as I have to read the backlog, join more places, (want to help the team), LOL and get away from the computer for awhile to rest my eyes and get back to my my dishes and then I can knit. It is so overwhelming I can only take in so much before I want to throw up my hands and go find something to indulge in, but can't find much
in my kitchen anymore. Hate to cook for myself. So very glad to find this site. Thanks for listening. My problems seem so very small compared to all I have read so far. God Bless!!
