Thank you all again for the welcome
Sorry the steroids have sent me into ff and have sprnt last few weeks blitzing house cleaning frOm top to bottom
My first blood test after steroids has shown gfr up 15 to 45
But unfirtunately I've now gotca kidney infectiOn
And as my form of kidney condition is an allergy to medication
To NSAIDs and the nephrologist did not want me to take antibiotics as they are another cause of my particular condition in some people I'm pretty anxious as steroids are also suppressing immune system and masking how bad infection is just worrying that could go back to square 1 or worse function drop down again was on gfr 30 sorry for moany post just lack of sleep over last few mths and pain have made me cranky
I need to come on spark people not fb to fill stuff in

I think I could be a " lucky " kidney illness sufferer as I was fit and healthy until feb apart from my weight and within 2 weeks of me being ill they found kidney function had dropped dramatically and I've had the last 5 mths to read up on kidney diseases
They tried to at first to say it was diabetes and high blood pressure
As have family history but after 3 different diabetes tests all negative and resting bp of 120/70. They started looking at auto immune then after those tests returnees a negative they did a biopsy which Is how I was diagnosed
If this is acute I can recover well but still theta a chance I won't
As my cholesterol is high ( started craving salty butter as my potassium level dropped ) I was refered to a Dietician
I have had my diet evaluated And apart from tge salty butter which has been removed already my diet was balanced and healthy
I hate the taste of pop / soda diet or otherwise I don't eat crisps/ chips etc candies junk food not too keen on meat
I cook from scratch dont add salt to cook or to meals and I'm trying to find lower sodium stuff
And low fat but notice they lower fat and raise salt content on stuff grr oh and I'm drinking 3 litres water but keep forgetting to hit my water button on here !!

I'm seeing nephrologist in the pm and get blood and urine results 1 week after steroids
Will let you know how it went thank you again

hi i am a mum of 2 and 42 yrs old
ive been told i have tubulointerstitial nephritis due to an allergic reaction to a NSAIDs called voltaren prescribed by my dr i only took 1 dose the 2nd dose came straight back up
my kidneys are at 30% function im anemic low on pottasium and now hypercholesterolic

am on steroids to supress my immune system just started last week and have been told to lose weight which was my intenmtion in jan bfore i became ill the treadmill is testament to that ! im on low fat low cholesterol low salt diet
the steroids have given me an energy i havent had since jan but i cant fully use the energy as i had biopsy just under 2 weeks ago have found my sleep is terrible the lack of it making me hungrier than normal and i know the steroids will too and also cold develop diabetes from the steroids so ive got to control my weight my eating and exercise sorry a bit ranty
