Hello from California, I just signed up for SP and am training for my first half ironman also. I have done the sprints, super sprints and olympic as well. I have had this goal for a few years and have had injuries or work constraints that have held me back. This year it's on! I am set for August 26th.....How has your training going?
Hey Ho from Texas!!! My name is Grace and I've been a member of SP since 2007. I've experienced so many types of athletic events during my journey and doing a half ironman is just another tick on the list of things I want to do. I've done many types of athletic events such as half marathons/marathons, duathlons, triathlons(mini sprints, sprints, Olympic), kickboxing, boxing and am going to experience a first timer with a 6.2 mile mud run with several obstacles throughout the run this Sat. I've had the half ironman itch in me for awhile but needed to figure out when I was ready. I thought this might be a good way to start by joining a SP team that shows interest in this type of feat.
I'm hoping to start a training program after the first of the year 2012 with the assistance of my good friend and personal trainer, Heidi Weimer. I know what to do to train, but she is going to help me become a stronger athlete. I'm hoping to use this team for questions and advice on how to be a successful half ironman and eventually an ironman!!! :0)
I have not picked a race just yet. I've got the Ironman/Half Ironman in Couer D Lain, Idaho in my sites, for June 24, 2012 for right now. I think this'll give me ample time to put together a training program that fits me.
Any advice you can offer up about the subject would be absolutely AWESOME!!!!
