I have a comfy Giant hybrid and I ride about 12 km (7.5 miles) a day to and from work, weather permitting. I love my bike for city commuting because I don't ride fast out of fear of a car door or some other thing I'll have to stop quickly for. But maybe I'd like a racer bike for weekend trips on a long bike path. I don't do that but I'd like to!
I'm doing a 35km (22 miles) ride in a few weeks with my Dad and group. It's a very hilly course but it's beautiful out in the countryside!

Hi there! I was excited to find this group on sparkpeople. I do a variety of activities, but road biking is the most serious (and expensive) one. I'm competing in a duathlon next Saturday, and I'm training to bike over Powder River Pass, here in northern Wyoming. I love riding in our beautiful country.
Welcome! I think we're definitely a bit more lighthearted here (not that being hardcore is bad), though we have some folks who have some goals and who've done some rides that I just find amazing. And definitely inspiring - which is part of the deal, for me. I never even flirted with the idea of riding a century or doing a camp & ride tour until I met some of the fun folks here who've done it, and who make it seem more possible for me. Though I'm still mostly a fair-weather commuter girl. Who is, as Miss G says, hibernating (3rd Polar Vortex? REALLY??!???) Spring is coming. I think.

I'm glad you found this team, too! We're a little more light-hearted than the bigger cycling team (I think), but there are a lot of really avid cyclists here, too. I hope you spend some time wandering through to posts and get to know us. Feel free to lurk for a bit, too.
