The one time I got pneumonia was on vacation in Arizona when my kids were little and I was still married to Hubby 1.0. We were hiking along a pretty flat path and I was out of breath and thinking, "Man, I am in way worse shape than I thought. This is terrible."
Then that evening we were walking through a shopping mall and I was out of breath and I thought, "Uh oh...."
The ER doc there would only give me amoxicillin, which was a joke of a drug for pneumonia, because "there's a chance you might be pregnant." (There was NO chance that I was pregnant, I was just three days shy of my expected monthly visit from Aunt Flo and I had been properly using birth control. But apparently the seeds for the current Arizona craziness of "a woman is considered pregnant unless she is actually on her period" were already being sown 20 years ago.) By the time I got back home on the plane, my doctor wanted to put me in the hospital--which I flat refused because I was still a nursing mother. Doc only let me go provided that I return in two days for a follow-up x-ray. I was feeling much better by then, but when I got to the doctor's office they had had the carpets cleaned over the weekend and I had a terrible allergic reaction to the chemicals. By the time the doc got to my exam room I was wheezing and my face was all puffy. He FREAKED out and wanted to call an ambulance, and I had a heck of a time convincing him that I was actually better!
None of which has anything to do with biking, but heck, now I've written it all! LOL!

I am impressed with (and a little jealous of) the challengers here!
Reasons to be impressed are obvious - ya'all are doing great! Reasons to be jealous - ugh. I fetched up with a nasty cold, the kind that gets in your nose and sinuses and eardrums and throat and chest, and makes you cry on airplanes from the pressure changes. My husband reminded me that the last time I persisted in running outside with a similar cold, in similar weather, the cold bloomed into pneumonia. Oh, yeah...I remember that. That was even less fun than the cold. Biking in 30 degree weather is probably not a good idea.
So I'm jealous. And grumpy-frustrated. Could it be that "cranky" is another feature of the cold? (Husband nods head VIGOROUSLY. Oh that poor man.)
We succeed when we create conditions for success - and when we can't do that, we create conditions for succeeding within constraints.

Glad I didn't try biking today. It was sleeting and storming when I came out of court, complete with thunder. Next week is supposed to get back up into the 50s, so I will try to get a couple decent rides in!

I'm exactly halfway to my goal, and today it snowed. I was planning on biking to town for court, but I'm not entirely sure I'm up to that. The snow is off the road, and for the moment it's sunny. But more bad weather is supposed to be coming in, so we will see what noon brings....

I haven't logged anything for a few days. I rode home from work last Wednesday night, rode into work Thursday morning, and I rode to the staging area for my first 5K run on Saturday. Those miles are included in the following:
This doesn't match up with my last post, but it does match my post over in another team. I give up trying to reconcile the two.

I'm heavy on running this month, 'cause it will be too icy soon and I have a 6.66 miler in just a couple more weeks, so I'm going to count running and swimming and cycling all together. Just 70 miles for me between now and the end of the month.
