Hey Hollsters I like how you have set a number of litle rewards for yourself as you move closer toward your goal. As you can see, I figured out how to make a profile page (That was fun) and I think I will give some thought to rewarding myself with each 5 lbs dissolved or changed into muscle *smile* GREAT IDEA.
Thanks so much for the encouragement re: what I am already doing. Sometimes it feels like I gain weight looking at food... I don't quite understand why my body is so... intent!!... on holding onto weight, but it is. And at 5'2" it doesnt take much to have to move out of one set of clothing and into another, and I hate that!

Hi there Hollsters! I live in a rural community - its called Prince Edward County... sort of between Belleville and Kingston (or Toronto and Montreal if you don't know either of those!) and on Lake Ontario. I live in a little village of 400, 15 km out of a little village of 4000... !
I think I will enjoy this site- the welcomes certainly help me feel motivated to stick around, thats for sure! Thank you.
How did you design that little bar at the bottom of your post that shows your progress toward goals? Its cool, I want one. hahaha.

Hi Kaaren and welcome to SparkPeople. I have found using this site to be an excellent way to keep up your motivation (as well as knowledge and support) for keeping on with a healthy living, eating and exercising lifestyle. Sounds like you know what you need to do to become healthier, know your challenges or roadblocks to that progress, and are planning ways around it. So far - you are doing great!
Oh, and I'm from Newfoundland and Labrador and so in this SparkPeople world we are practically neighbours!
I just joined this group today so I had a place to return to through the next frew months for a bit of inspiration, and had a place to offer encouragement to others looking to make choices that support health and a comfortable weight.
I have a number of friends who occasionally join me in my passion for improved health, but I find their interest wanes and then I get disappointed that I dont have anyone to discuss my challenges and successes with.
I'm 41, a single mother of two children with different eating habits (my 14 daughter is a vegan, my 12 year old son is a new vegatarian) and I myself have found over the years that I feel and look best when I eat a very low carbohydrate diet which includes lean meat and seafood. Its challenging to meet all of my families varied needs every day without cracking up! Ha!
I once weighed 210 pounds (ten years ago) I dropped 50 pounds eating low fat... then settled at 150 for a long time. I reduced my weight further to 120 for about six months (low carbohydrate)last year but as I have reintroduced carbs I have gained most of that back and now weigh 150 again. At only 5"2, my most comfortable weight is 130 and that is where I would like to find myself by June 1. I want to wear the clothes that are now stored under my bed again!
I work out at the gym with a friend twice a week (one hour arobic classes) and play squash for an hour once a week in a league. I am eating low carbs, and reducing portion sizes again and feeling great. I was happy to see that I didnt gain any weight over the holidays.
So... back to 130 I go!
