Moon: Welcome to perimenopause (your change in life and to our group). Its the hardest thing to pick yourself back up from a bad situation like that. I found that getting a couple of small successes under your belt worked wonders for me. It is a huge success that you are on SP. Now pick a small challenge you know you can do and get it done. It will boost your mood, your confidence and your self esteem. Welcome again. And keep up the good work. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've been writing acknowledgements at night for the past couple of weeks, and working through some coaching exercises, so hopefully its helping, Too bad these things are faster to affect you than they are to undo! lol

hey Moon

Might help to make a list of your positives to review in times when you're not feeling so sure of your self.

Then choose actions that best express your true self.
Not the part of you that is hurt and wounded.

yes I do know that quote and I realized it when it happened. I know if I hadn't had those feelings on the inside, she wouldnt have been able to bring them out in me! I know that confidence and self esteem will always be a challenge for me in this lifetime. I think there are always certain things that you never conquer, you just have to go each day and not allow them to conquer *you*. Between her and the sudden job loss, my lack of confidence and self esteem got an open door to conquer me again. Now I have to find a way to kick them back out because they are *not* welcome! lol

Thanks everyone!

Hey Moon
Sorry to hear about your downward spiral, glad to know you're coming out of it.
Not exactly coming at a time in your life when you're able to handle it... perimenopause is notorious for mood swings.

You asked about herbs.
I've used pycnogenol for a vein problem literally for decades.. as it turns out, its supposed to be good for things like hot flashes, which thankfully I never got. Might also be a healthy diet full of produce and good exercise habits too. Dunno.

As for your former friend and critic, you're prolly familiar with Eleanor Roosevelt's maxim:
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"

Welcome to the team.

Dear Moonchild,
Congratulations for picking yourself up and starting again. Take it one step at a time. Track your food and increase your exercise. Check out Beth Donovan's blogs for motivation.

Welcome to our team! Feel free to vent again if you need to.

its my third go round, my first with a new username. I'm in Perimenopause, I was on some wonderful herbs that were really helping with the symptoms, but I lost my job in July, and now I have run out of them and cant afford more yet. So now I am dealing with hormone hell as I call it. Just before I lost my job, my best friend stabbed me in the back out of the blue, and that and the job sent me into a spiral, when I stress, I put on weight. This is the most I have weighed since 2005, and I'm frustrated and off to a slow start. People have described me as a very positive person, but I'm not feeling that the past few months. Just been hating myself for losing my job, and feeling all the horrible things this friend said to me, I valued her opinion so much and her doing that and the sudden job loss just after took all my self love away. Funny thing is, I am a certified life coach, so you think I could coach myself out of this? Maybe I just need to heal more. Anyhow, this is longer than I meant it, thanks for listening if you read this far! I'm not a great joiner but it would be nice to have a handful of sparkfriends. :)
