MSWEEZER, you might be just that lucky, how ever I know those whom have HOT FLASHES don't have a monthly period. and if what I remember you saying you still have one once in a while or monthly.

So if you don't have HOT FLASHES do feel lucky

I think I've read that some get thru Menopause without hot flashes. Could I be so lucky? Time will tell.

Iv been taking estroven for 7 years.
I also take the extra strength kind because it has cranberry stuff in it. Which is good for the bladder.
Iv had a time with infections and by taking this product being ALL natural I don't get them any more.

Ladies If I may chime in.

I have mentioned that I take extra strength estrogen I don't just take it for the HOT FLASHES I take it for irritability issues.

Years ago I was talking with my niece who has as many kids as I do, and asked her how she bounced back from her 5th child un like her previous children. You see she'd goes through major depression after ever pregnancy. BUT she decided to taking this herb on a daily bases. And she NO longer has problems with depression.
Once my boy friend head this he said please try it, and I also thought I need to see if this would help me, so I went & got some and started taking it and I noticed a difference right away.
All I know is it's helped me so much with being irritateable and yes with the HOT FLASHES TOO.
Iv been very much for the natural remedies and so far ESTOVEN has been the ticket for me.
Now you have my 2 cents worth.

I've done natureopathy before and it does work, but it is not as quick as western medicine (it also doesn't come with the side effects of western medicine). Keep us informed.

Hi and welcome to the team! I'd be interested to know how you do on the supplements and herb. I've read about Functional Medicine and it does make sense.
I can relate to the irritability. I'm such a b word and I hate it. I feel like I don't want to be around anybody. That's why I'm getting a dog! emoticon

Happy Saturday everyone! I saw this team and thought I would join. I am new to this team but not SP.
I believe I am perimenopause as well. Irritable, unpreditable periods as to being miss reliable my whole life. Some sleeping disturbances but as far as I can tell that's about it.
My biggest problem is the irritablity... like the other day felt like I would rip everyones head off... not a good thing!
Recently I changed doctors from a western medicine practitioner to a doctor who believes in Functional Medicine. Basically Funtional Medicine believes in healing the systems of the body instead of just medicating the symptoms. So, part of his treatment for me is supplementation... Vitamin D, Folate, Fish oil and he has me on a chinese herb. I am supposed to give it three months to see if some of my symptoms lessen.

Hi Rekann1! Welcome! I'm a little differant. I'm 45 and I had a hysterectomy several years ago. I had the surgeon leave the ovaries and cervix so I go through the whole miserable cycle and then spot a little at the end, like clockwork every month. Until recently. I have not seen spot since July and I have my own personal heating system now. Good Times!

Hello! I was just saying to another SP member how I would love a menopause team. This one looks like the right one for me. Not too many members and for folks just starting down this path.

I am finding my emotions and binging overwhelming right at pre-menstrual time. These are new symptoms for me. Also, my cycle, which was 28 days on the dot for years is now going anywhere from 23-32 at any given month. I'm interested in getting support/giving support and learning what others are doing to cope with these issues.

Thanks!

Ask your daughter this: does she kill people who don't give her chocolate, or is she not particular?

I remember when my niece started. I gave her a box of dark chocolate disks for her birthday...

...I quickly became her favorite aunt.

When my daughter is on the PMDD she says, "All I want to do is eat chocolate and kill people". So maybe biting isn't so bad?

I agree it does help to exercise if tolerable.

I did find that exercise, as long as the symptoms aren't extreme, does help...

Hi CYNIEPOOH, sorry your having a rough time of it.

All I know is to tell you to start taking an over the counter remedy only cause I use to get crabby, irritable and stuff like that, along with the moods swings.
I use extra strength Estroven (generic) it's helped with this and also and with the breaking out into a sweet or HOT flashes. I use to wake up in a deep sweet and now i just get real warm and take off the covers. For some the estroven takes three months it did not for me I noticed results in a few weeks/days.

Hi everybody! Thank you for the welcome!

I'm 45. A few years ago I had a hysterectomy. I had them leave my ovaries and cervix. Because of this I go through the cycle every month. I lay eggs, get crabby, breast tenderness, get cramps, and then spotting instead of flow at the end. Wish I could solve the PMDD problem but was dealing with it as best as I could.
The past few months all of a sudden nothing no cycle other than crabby, breast tenderness and I can't do hardly anything without breaking out in a huge sweat. I feel on the verge of tears all the time and so clumbsy, mostly with my hands.

I'm thinking I'm starting to mental pause? Any advice would be very much appreciated. :)

Machol,
I know exactly how you feel.
I some times go three or more months with out that TOM. And when I do get it OH MAN the CRAMPS!!!!

I was told by a DRs wife that you can take two ibuprofens and also two tylonol extra strength together that is unless your allergic to aspirin then that's another thing. This is pain relief short of codeine and other stuff. So I take both of them four about three to four days. I flow real heavy for about four days then it dispose for a day then a slow one for a week or so. And yes it's normal.
So I know what you mean.

It's interesting I have a friend who has gone through exactly what i go through and she told me that one you go 12 months with out a TOM then your menopause. So until I have gone 12 months with out TOM I'm just perimenopausel.

Try to bit on us If you'd like, LOL

Hi, I'm new to this topic, but not new to SP.

I was at my doctor last week. I told her that I hadn't had a period since the end of March, but have had hot flashes all summer (growled at my husband when he told me to shut off the AC), so we both assumed that I was menopausal.

Well, yesterday, my body had a surprise for me. Today, my body is catching up on missing the last few months. The heavy bleeding I can deal with as I've had it before and just doubled up on overnight pads. But the cramps! Nothing is relieving them and I'm ready to BITE someone!

Any encouragement you can give me would be appreciated (and I promise I won't bite).

Hugs to you all. emoticon

Well I'll hope your symptoms stay away but having frequent TOM's (no it isn't our boyfriend - LOL) would be a real drag. Mine are just weird, I'm cold and irritable it seems. My skin is feeling dryer and just all around blah.

emoticon for the welcome!

As I mentioned on the 'menopause and losing' forum, according to my doctor I have been in the perimenopause for over a year now. Except, I've had no symtoms yet. On the contrary, my periods come every 3 weeks. But this time it's been 7 weeks between my periods (lol, just worked out what 'TOM' means, been wondering who he is emoticon )

So now I'm "looking forward" to rceieving any of the other symptoms.....

Cindy, you should be able to buy it most anywhere. I think the DH ordered it from Amazon but I know I've seen it at Walmart or any bookstore. We think it was about $20.

Just for reference:

Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom
by Christiane Northrup, M.D.

I've seen her on Oprah a time or two and was most impressed.

Hello Everyone,

I am Michelle, I'm almost forty and have issues with progesterone. I'm fairly unamused by the whole thing as I've gained 20 lbs in a year, have lost some hair and other ridiculous things to go along with this change.

I look forward to getting to know all of you, have a great week!

Welcome REKANN1.
The book is by Christiane Northrup and I think it is a very good book with loads of info. Some more than I would need as it is all about women and their bodies and changes from giving birth to the golden years. Lots of info about diet and such as well. I hope to start throwing info out to share tonight. Just know you are not alone if it is any comfort.

Glad to have you on the team!!!

Louise

Hi, I'm new to the team. I am 43 and on birth control. I had 2 hot flashes over the summer but that is it. However, the past two months, I have issues sleeping usually 1 day a week.

I am curious if your periods will diminish if you are still on BC or does the BC hormone levels still tell your uterus to shed? Or is it that there is less to shed ??

I'm 44 and have gained 20 pounds since I turned 40. I've been experiencing perimenopause symptoms this year so I want to learn as much as possible about what is in store for me.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have lived in SoCal for almost a decade. I love books and reading, crocheting, drawing, tea, journaling, yoga, and meditation.

I like it BG. I have such a hard time with names.
Anyway, I'm nearly 51 and in the perimenopause stage of life. Fun - NOPE! But, it is what it is and I'm trying to get thru it with the least amount of unpleasantness. That is why I decided that I truly wanted to get to a place with my diet and exercise that made sense and hopefully thru this time of my life. I experience headaches and can't associate with anything these days. My periods are monthly but never the same time and last about 24 hours and done, I have issues with sleeping but I can say I really don't suffer with hot flashses. I'm usually cold but I drink a ton of ice cold water. Maybe that has something to do with it, not sure. I'm not looking forward to them though and maybe I'll get lucky and not get them. I can hope!

Anyway, I thought this team would be great to talk to others experiencing similar things and maybe helping one another along the way.

Look forward to meeting others!
