Yes, I'm just preparing for my first 5k as well! I've been working on my running for quite some time, but it hadn't really hit me to sign up for a marathon, but my friend suggested that I should sign up! I was supposed to sign up for the 10k, but all of the spots filled up. I think it's best that I start with the 5k, especially since most of the practice that I get with running is usually in sprints playing sports.

Hi all! Just joined today. Psyched to have finished my 2nd 10K today - hilly and hot! Not running all the way yet. Still training. Run when I can and walk the rest of the way - PR today of 1:38:20. Working on getting ready for a half marathon in October. Have completed 8 5Ks - PR to date is 44:16. Not setting any records, but I'm off my butt and working it!!!

Way to go with the running. I might suggest taking in a few 10k during your half marathon training. Its a fun distance and a good builder to the half marathon as its about a quarter marathon. There is a team Im on called 10k Training that is good fun. Im sure there is a half marathon equivalent.

Hello all. I just joined the team - I've been on SP since April, and started running in August. I have found that I have enjoyed it far more than I'd ever hoped to! I ran in my 4th (yes, 4th - I'm hooked!) 5K today in particularly frigid weather for October in Ohio. Despite that, I still managed to take a few seconds off my time from the 3rd race and came in 2nd in my age group (I'm still shocked). I'm planning on beginning training for a half marathon - I'm not sure I'll be able to do it, but my husband and running friends are cheering me on to go for it!
