I find when I don't worry too much about my breathing I don't get stitches as often. No I haven't tried Couch to 5K, I have speakers in my workout area hooked up to Pandora, running is much less boring now than it ever was.

How are you breathing when you run? You should inhale deeply to the count of 3, then exhale to the count of 3. Deep belly breathing. There are articles on it. Really helps.

Have you tried the Couch to 5K program?

I have never had cardio such as running in my workouts. I've always ran the softball field and rode my mountain bike but after running the bases and panting (and I'm not a smoker or heavy) I decided to give it a shot. My goal is to run a mile without stopping, right now I'm doing intervals up to 1.6 miles and every week I up it 1 mile. I just wish I could get rid of the side stitches...do they eventually go away?
