I started run/walk 3 weeks ago and part of my motivation is the biggest loser also. Those guys on that show are so inspiring. When I'm out there and feeling tired I always think if they can do it I can do it. I have worked myself up from run/ walk 1min to 11 min run walk 1 min and run 12 min. I don't know in miles how Im doing but this works for me. I usually do this for about 45 min-1hour. I love it! Im new to this group also.

Hi!!! I just started running about 3 weeks ago. I NEVER in a MILLION YEARS! do you read me..in a million years did I think I would be running on the treadmill. I was so stubborn and so lazy minded that I never gave running an ounce of a chance...until recently. I prayed for strength from God and he surely granted it to me. I am currently 200lb and I can run for one mile without stopping. The most I have ran is 3 miles and sometimes I can run 2 miles. I was motivated also to run by Sunshine on the Biggest Loser. I love running now and not because its a fast way to lose weight but I feel that I have conquered my fear and I feel inevitable. I can do anything now! I joined this team for motivation and support and to support others. I feel if we stick together we will meet out goals and will soon be running 20 miles without stopping (if you haven't already). Thank you for starting this team and please keep it going everyone :)
Spark People gives you the resources but you posess the power to proceed with whats given. ~~If you don't THINK you can then TRY it~~
Welcome and great job with all your running so far!
I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams. I am an athlete. I am a runner. (runzoerun.com)

Hi Kelly, welcome to the team. I was in your shoes not to long ago. I just started running back in December and at that point couldn't run a 1/4 mile. Last night I did 3.1 miles (5K) in 33.57mins and my first 5K race is May 5th. The best thing to do is sign up for one and it will keep you motivated and give you something to look forward to. You sound like you know where you want to go so just go and do it. Best of Luck.

Hi all!! I'm glad I found this group :) My name is Kelly, I'm 26 from Oregon. I'm happily married for 5 and a half years and have two cats and a golden retriever. I'm losing this weight to be more happy, fit, confident and healthy, but above all to finally be healthy enough to start a family. I am fairly new to running - I've been jogging a mile about 5 times a week for the last 3 or 4 weeks. It started out as jogging a mile total in between my weight training with my trainer, and eventually a couple weeks ago I started jogging a mile straight around my neighborhood. Today I jogged 1.35 miles so I'm working my way up...woohoo!! :) I've been using spark since Sept. 1st 2009 and am so happy to be on this healthy lifestyle journey here. I am throwing around the idea of doing my first 5k this summer. Running is the one exercise that really makes me feel free because it's something I've never really been able to do. I feel so alive when I'm out there jogging and able to actually hold my own! Can't wait to get to know you all!
Kelly :) "Our greatest glory consist not in never falling but rising every time we fall" - this time I will rise!
