Hi Elizabeth! I found a beginner 5k training schedule on runnersworld.com. Alot of people like to use the c25k (which is the couch to 5k), and they seem to like that one too. The only time I walked was when I got water. It just seemed to hard for me to run and sip water, but other than that I ran it all. If you have any questions, just let me know. Good luck to you!!!!!!! Also, my name is Angie.

The best advice for the first is to be sure you start slow. With the nerves and excitement it will be easy to start fast. Then you end up loosing it at the end. Keep focused and start off with a nice easy pace and then build up from there. Good luck!

The 5k I'm doing is the RFTC as well... My goal is just to be able to run the whole thing without stopping to walk. The name is Elizabeth, btw. Forgot to mention that earlier. Got any good advice for running the first 5k?
Good Luck on your 5k Sweettiem! I know you will do just fine!!!! I ran my first 5k on Sunday, and it wasnt as scary as I thought it would be. I finished at 30 minutes. Although not a personal best, I started at the end, and there were a ton of people there. (Susan G Komen RFTC). My next 5k will be November 14, so I am taking a few days off before I start training again.
I'm new to this team too. I did my first 5K about a month ago and getting ready to do my third and probably final for this year this weekend. I love it. I'm not a natural runner at all but I'm really getting into it. I love to hear everyones stories they are really motivating. I do want to say if you have never tried it you should I was so nervous but it was very relaxing and not high pressure like I thought it would be. Good luck to everyone!
Just joined today! Been running at least a mile for the past 3-4 weeks. (This past week been running 3) Doing my first 5k on Oct. 24 and nervous... Definitely have the doubt that I won't be able to run it. I hope to find motivation with this group!
I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams. I am an athlete. I am a runner. (runzoerun.com)
Hi, I just joined this spark team today. And I joined the run 50 miles a month as my goal too. My first 5k is this Sunday. I am pretty excited because I've been training for it, but at the same time, I feel like what next? Before I started training for the 5k, I used to take classes at my gym, and lift weights too, but since I decided to do this 5k, I mainly run, and I love it!
