Welcome to running! I also live in AZ and am enjoying all the winter races! I just got roped into the Lost Dutchman Races by my husband! I'm going to attempt my first 8K! I'm like you that I just started the running journey and did my first 5K on December 14th.
I hear from my husband that a really fun one if you live in the valley is the Pat Tillman run in Tempe in April. You actually end on the 42 yard line in Sun Devil Stadium which was his number when he played there! It is 4.1 miles I want to say! Keep in touch and happy running!
Isn't it amazing how powerful you feel when you run? Especially after you "knew" you couldn't run for whatever reason it was that you told yourself in the past. My reason was my bad knees, which apparently are not bad at all :o)

I'm Natalie. I just ran my first 5K on my 36th birthday last November.
I've never been athletic and always thought running was pretty cool, but something I could never do with my short legs. I'm now realizing it's something you have to work on to develop, just like any other skill or talent.
I want to get better and train for a 10K.
