Hello! My name is Elina. I can't believe it's taking me this long to introduce myself and really get into the Spark. But better late then never right? I've been big for most of my life and this last October was my big 'eye opener' to finally getting off my ass and do something for myself. It's taken me this long to actually start working in that direction but here I am. Let's do this!

Hello my name is Candace. I decided to lose weight because I started hating myself. I was up to 190 and couldn't take it no more. My coworkers tormented me telling me how I "got fat" over night. I would cry at night. I always thought I would get up and lose weight when I felt better. So I waited, and waited intill 3 or 4 months passed. I finally got out of my slump and decided to lose weight to make ME feel better instead of waiting to feel better. I feel what little weight I have lost has made me feel much more better. I hope to lose many more pounds and be who I am. Forget what my coworkers say, I'm going to be happy regardless. Congrats and good luck everybody!!!

Hi. I'm Zaph. 35, married, SAHM of 4, ages 12-6. My weight has always been an issue. I'm no longer trying to "get skinny", I'm just trying to find the best ME size, whatever that is. I just started reading "You on a Diet" in hopes of "normalizing" my weight. in the last 15 years I have bounced between 115-245, over and over and over again. Tired of the yo-yo. Also, been overcoming some big emotional obstacles in 2009. Ready to make 2010 a much more calm and satisfying year.

A healthy body is the best accessory.

Hi I am Sandra and have 3 teenage daughters. I am 39 years old. I am fairly new to spark. I signed on the 14th of December, but did not really get to view the site much till yesterday. This is going to be a long hard process for me because there seems to not be enough hours in the day to do everything I need to.

Hi! I'm Amira. I'm 32. I'm single, never married, no kids. I haven't been involved in the SparkPeople's community so much yet. I'm so happy to be here. I've been busy for the last two weeks building my fast break habits. I'm doing my best and I finally started to lose weight. I feel so excited. I know my weight loss is so slow, but at least I'm going in the right direction. I wish everybody good luck and a happy new year.

Hi Everyone and happy holidays! It's been almost a week and I'm really excited about this site. Everyday I've discovered something new to read and use. I've made a few of the recipes, stuck to the meal plan, did my exercises and I feel good. I hope to use this team as a connection of those of us who started at the same time, have the same "beginner" excitement, and will help build each other up when the novelty starts to wear off. That's when I'll need this team the most.

Welcome back! Did you know that the best predictor of success is prior success? It's true. I've been there, too, as have most people. Hang in there. I think we've got a great group, too. A group is stronger than the sum of it's parts.

Hey everyone, my name's Javier and I'm 25 and from Spain. I've been studying abroad in France for the last three years, but now that I'm at last done I'm back in Spain and without a job (though working on getting one). During the time I spent in France I ended gaining quite a bit of weight, going from around 95 kg to nearly 115, while I should weight 75-80 ideally. I've managed to get that back to around 104, but I seem to have come to a standstill. I heard about this site from a blog I read from time to time and decided to give it a go, to see if it can be the boost I need to keep losing weight.

Good luck to everyone with our goals!

Hi
I'm Boadicea [Boo-dee-ka]
I'm going on 53 this February.
I am very obese and very unhappy in my body.
I need to do SOMETHING.
I do not want to set a goal weight by a certain date
because I am bound to fail if I do.
I am concentrating on losing 10% as my first goal.
Time will tell how long it will take me.
I will try and weigh every week and try to be satisfied
with a 0.3 lbs average weight loss per week.
That should be possible for ANYBODY including ME.

Hello everyone! I used to be very athletic and I gradually got away from that due to reasons that I became depressed. Now I feel that I have wallowed too long in my depression and that it is time to take control. Why now? Because I am fed up with it. I want to be happy with myself and healthy. My father was diagnosed with diabetes not a month ago and on top of that he went to the hospital for heart problems. Luckily he is ok. I think he is pretty healthy compared to many others out there.. But if this happened to him, then it can happen to me. And I am so much more unhealthy now.
I would like to make some friends with this group. I look forward to working together to lose that which we will not miss!

LET'S BURN SOME CALORIES!

Hi, I'm Judy. I'm 34 years old and have two wonderful teenagers (an oxymoron right?!). I've been battling with my weight my whole adult life. I'm ready to change my life and live healthier. I would like to lose about 100 pounds. That seems daunting, but I'm hoping to meet some friends and gain some wisdom and motivation here to help me get through it pound by pound.

Hi, I am new to Spark. A friend of mine has recommended it. I am a 53 year old that has 50 lbs to lose . I lead an active life but I have allowed my weight to get away from me. I am married to a great guy and between us, we have 4 daughters and 5 dogs. We reside in Indy. My husband and I like to walk but I like to drink my wine too. I suppose I will need to give that up. Darn.

Good Afternoon everyone! I'm Colleen...back on this site for the 3rd time. Hope that this is IT for me. I guess im pretty good at giving up and throwing in the towel when things get tough.Bad, i know. I was planning on joining a new gym after Christmas and today my Dr. told me that i've got diabetes so i need to make some drastic changes to my lifestyle or end up on medication. I'm freaked out...but hopefully i can pull this off.

Hi everyone. It is great to see so many motivated people on this team!!

I am 41, married 15 years and a mom to a 6-year-old daughter. I've been on the diet yoyo for way too long and I am ready to lose the weight for good. This time I am trying something different - losing the weight slowly and being kind and gentle with myself instead of bombarding myself with negative self talk!

Professionally I am a pianist and piano teacher, and I feel very lucky to be able to play and listen to music every day and get paid for it :)

Great to meet you all!

Hello all! I'm am 23 from Wyoming. I want to... scratch that, I am GOING to lose 85 pounds.

I am a former sparkie that fell off the wagon. In the fall of 2006 and spring of 2007 I lost about 25-30 for my April wedding. Since then I have gained 60 pounds.

I am a mother to three dogs and one cat. I like to play WoW and I drive an RX-8. I work part time at a logging and peforating company, but most importantly... I am ready to lose weight and be healthy!

Hi, my name is Trish. I just joined SP today. I am 31, single and more than 100 pounds overweight. I am more active than average, but I eat poorly and often more than is necessary. My friends, such good friends, are concerned for me. Two of my very good friends teach fitness classes and one of those is my fitness class. I've been going for more than a year and haven't lost more than 5 or 6 pounds, but I have gone down two pant sizes and one shirt size.

Tonight, my friend did my BMI at the club and it is over 40%! She said I have 110 pounds of fat on my body. 110!!! Now I understand why I can't clog dance the whole night and why it is that just going up my apartment stairs is a real chore!

Well, my friend (not the one who is my fitness teacher, the other one) is going to be part of a test fitness/nutrition program for her club. It starts on December 27th. She challenged me to do it with her. But the nutrition plan wasn't realistic to my needs. So I'm going to do Spark People while she does her club thing and we'll still get to do this together. We have a kick off party planned together for the 27th. She has already been successful in losing weight so she will be good motivation.

I hope to find some SP friends who are more in my boat, too. I will spend the next 9 days til my Big Start in praying, preparing and planning (and figuring out how to use all the SP features). This can be it, right? The last time I have to say, "I'm gonna lose the weight this time."

Melanie--I so admire how you maintained yourself during your husband's deployment. I'm sure that was a huge challenge. It was extremely hard for me to lose weight after the birth of my son (21 years ago) but I ultimately did it with diet and exercise--a lot of exercise--I got my black belt.

I have not read any of Gillian's books but maybe I'll consider it now that you have benefited so much. I always thought that the whole organic thing was a gimmick.

I weigh about 195 and want to lose about 100 lb. in the next year (I'm 4'10"). I have psoriatic arthritis and tore my a.c.l. (a ligament in my knee) while sparring and had to stop martial arts quite a few years ago. At that time I was a size 2 @ about 125 lb.
I have tried to lose weight with a nutritionist, etools.com and Weight Watchers and have not lost weight. I am committed to SparkPeople and have not given up. I will need a lot of support and encouragement. I also want to give the same. I look forward to a successful weight loss ahead for all of us.

Hello everyone. My name is Melanie. I have been married for 4 years now and we have a 2 year old daughter. I started my weight loss journey after the birth of our child. 3 months after the birth of our daughter, my husband was deployed to Afghanistan for a year. I stayed fully motivated while he was away. I weighed 245 after I had our daughter via C-section. Some of this was water retention (I had toxemia) but water was not all to blame. When my husband came home, I was weighing in at 179. Now I have gained 20 pounds back since he got back home. I joined this site to get back on track. I have never given up exercising but I feel my diet is the one to blame for the weight gain. I was slim when I was younger but in my senior year, I began working at Sonic. We were given free food so I gained some extra pounds but it wasn't until I got pregnant that I really packed on the pounds. I absolutely hate being this big and feel disgusted with myself. I have seriously thought about lipo but I feel that is the easy way out. I want to work the weight off and be another success story. If I can ever get my body back into shape, I would love to become a personal trainer to help others become a success story.

My family recently switched to an organic lifestyle and have already seen a big difference. Master My Metabolism by Jillian Michaels was the book that encouraged me to switch to organic foods. Then we watched Food, Inc that encouraged my husband to go organic. I encourage everyone to read this book and watch this movie. You will never look at food the same.

Hi--I just changed my username from Quantas to Sparkenista, so you'll know it's me--Merry. By the time I was 24 I had lost weight many times. Although I did not regain all of it, I have struggled with this issue since I was six or seven. Before that I was actually skinny.
I had a hysterectomy several years ago and have had a particularly hard time losing weight since then. Since I am in the fashion field this is very hard on me.
I would love to communicate with you and share mutual support. Thanks for writing. I look forward to your next email. I live in Brooklyn, NY by the way.

Hi! My name is Merry (yes, really) and I just joined on Sunday. I was referred by my nutritionist. I have lost weight many times but have re-gained it and find it the hardest to lose now.
I have spent a lot of time on this web site in the last couple of days but still have not explored all of the features. I am looking forward to getting and giving support and to reaching my health and fitness goals.
I am 55 years old and started a new business about 4 years ago. I run it from home so you can imagine the challenges.

I have a 21-year-old son who is in college and is living with me. The challenge of weight loss has been lifelong. I am now ready to take the bull by the horns and accept that nutrition and exercise have to part of my day-to-day life from now on.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and to share my journey. emoticon

Lately, with high-working course loads, I've felt unmotivated to exercise and lazy to cook at home. Last year, I was a workout freak, now I'm on my way to the dark side...well, not anymore. I hope to find support on SP, in order to keep me interested in keeping up with my goals. I'm a very positive person, the more I help others, helping myself kind of just falls into place naturally.

I am so ready to kick my butt into boot camp gear and have the body I've always wanted! :)

Hi, It's nice to meet you and I will greatly appreciate all the help I can get. I work in a maintenance shop so it's just guys and I so miss working with women. I am married with children(teens)oh yeah I could probably use help with that also LOL.
I am ready to change to a healthy lifestyle and get back on the wagon because I fell off and hit the ground hard.
