Hello! My name is Carolyn. I have spent the past twenty years focused on the health of my son (kidney transplant recipient) and neglecting my health. I have lost and gained the same 30 - 60 pounds over and over again. This time feels different. I started bike riding over the summer and have lost 30 lbs. so far. I feel I need a challenge, support and motivation, especially for the fall/winter months. The journey is long, but I like the scenery so far!

I don't usually participate in forums so this is a bit of a challenge for me. I found this site while on livestrong.com, a similar type site. I quickly learned sparkpeople.com has much more to offer. I lost 50 unneeded pounds using using the nutrisystem plan. That proved to be VERY expensive, so I quit. I managed to find 25 of those lost pounds. I recommitted myself to maintaining a healthy weight, so here I am. I am hopelessly addicted to the power of positive thought; I believe anyone can do ANYTHING if they really want and believe they can. I hope this attitude is contagious. Serving 22 years in the Marine Corps I have developed a strong sense teamwork and the undeniable synergy a group that share a goal. Good luck to all as we continue our journey.

Hi emoticon everyone, my Name is Johanni. I am a 30 years old Dominican-York woman. I have 2 adorable Kids, Wesley (11 years) and my little Earthquake Ethalie-Amanda (5 years). In a relationship with an extraordinary man who is very supportive on all this changes in our lifestyle. I think without Carlos help I wouldn’t be able to do this. We are Food Lovers For Life and Love to cook and grocery shop together... What I mean saying that we are food lovers is that we are using a DIET FREE program AND WE LOVE IT...

In 5 weeks I have lost 14 lbs... emoticon OMG I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT... And at least 10 inches overall. For my Cardio workout I do Turbo Jam and for my resistance training I do Chalean Extreme... GOT TO SAY THAT I JUST LOVE CHALENE JOHNSON WORKOUTS... They are full of energy and she is so funny and makes me laugh every time I hear or see her doing something crazy things...

Using a realistic point of view, I am looking forward to lose another 14lbs by the end of the year... “IF I DID NOT GAIN IT OVERNIGHT I AM NOT EXPECTING OF LOSING IT OVERNIGHT EITHER...” And To be Honest I am impress with myself that in only 5 weeks I have lost 14lbs... And more than 10 inches...

I AM GETTING CLOSE TO WEAR THAT BEAUTIFUL BLACK DRESS that I have hanging in the back of my closet…

Hey everyone! I'm a re-sparker. I got a major tooth ache (requiring the dreaded root-canal) after losing almost 10 lbs w/ this site. I stopped watching what I ate and stopped buying my own groceries (I'm living w/ my family while I go to college)and just slipped back to old lifestyles and my old weight. Yuck. Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to lose weight for several years now. I joined a gym in January & was doing very well. Sometime in May I developed vertigo and it made it difficult to do much of anything. I finally got better about six weeks ago. I’ve gotten so used to being at home doing nothing that I’m having a hard time pushing myself to get back in the swing of things. I still haven’t made it back to the gym. I go for walks around my neighborhood, but I haven’t done much else. I’m hoping that SP will motivate me to push myself out of my comfort zone & get moving again.

Hi, everyone. I joined SP yesterday to help me stay on track. Up until I was 22 years old, I was thin. I didn't exercise and ate too much junk. Everyone kept telling me it would catch up with me, and it did! I gradually gained 45 lbs in 5 years. I started counting calories and exercising 2 months ago, and have lost 15 lbs so far. My goal is to lose 25 - 30 more lbs and keep it off.

I have been working from home for the last 3 years which has gotten in the way of my workout schedule. You'd think I'd have all the time in the world to workout but I always end up trying to always complete one more task. I knew I had gained weight I just didn't realize how much, 30 whole pounds! My company shut down so I was forced to change out of my comfy pants. Absolutely nothing fits. Bad enough I lost the best job ever but I had to shop for the biggest interview outfit I've ever had to wear. That was humiliating. What do you do when the largest womens size is too small but the smallest plus size item is too big? So here I am. I am down a bit but I know I won't be able to really get in the groove until I have a job. I have two positions in the final stages so it should be in the next week or so. I should have just enough time to complete the steps necessary to get through Stage1, then I will be on my way to getting back on track.

Hi everyone, my daughter told me about spark. I am 45 almost 46 and trying to be a better massage therapist by changing my overall health. I give so many benefits to others health and now I need to apply more to my own. I am trying to lose the same 30 to 50 pounds I have had since 20 years old. It is up and down and more up than down. I have been eating healthier for the last two years but still havent found that magic combination to succeed totaly. I do know I have a 20 pound tumor so when that is removed I'll not have quite so much to lose, but I still have a lot on my own too. Here is my motivation for the day.

There is no failure except in no longer trying.

My sis turned me on to SP and showed me how to use the site. I admit that its all a bit overwhelming but the tools seem really easy to use and practical.

I've been trying to lost the 30+ pounds I gained right after high school for the last --well...since I realized it was there!

Hi!
I joined SP yesterday. I'm 27yo, 5'2" and current weight of 190lbs. This is the much I have ever weighed and am sick of feeling fat. My current goal is 140lbs. I have always struggled with my weight. In highschool I got upto 160, I lost about 30 pounds then by starving myself. I don't want to do that again. I want to lose weight healthy and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I'm looking for motivation here. I also think this site will help me be accountable for what I eat, and my exersize. I'm tired of cheating myself and using the excuse well there's always tomorrow.

Hi everybody! Anxious to get to know you and give & receive support. I have 60 lbs to lose. I lost 25 about a year ago, but had a car accident earlier this year (someone ran a stop sign), my mom was with me and was killed. So I've been a bit of an emotional wreck for the past several months and have not been able to stop eating. But life goes on and I need to get a grip on the food. I have a husband, three daughters (21, and 17 yr old twins) and want to be healthy and fit. So - today's the day. I must say, this site is HUGE and I'm feeling overwhelmed. But I'll get there. Hi everyone! I belonged to Sparkpeople for awhile last year and went nowhere. I thought I was going to do well, but I let life and stress, etc. etc. get in the way and blew my chance then. I had lost 25 lbs. last fall and here I am this fall having gained it back.
I need support, I need to make this a priority and I need it to work this time.
I am 52 years old, very happily married for 32 years (as of yesterday!) have 5 children, 2 daughters-in-law and a very beautiful grandson. With all of that to live for.....I will get to it!

Im Karen from the Seattle WA area. Im 42, mom of 2 and wife of 19 years (tmo) to David.

I have battled my weight all of my life. I was down to within 15 pounds of my goal in 2006, then Asthma struck big time. With the steroids and such I have gained back 45 pounds.

I am a runner who hasnt been able to run in more than 3 years and I really want to get back to that.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and succeeding!

Good morning! I have used sparkpeople in the past to lose 45 pounds and loved it. It was very easy to use and made me self-motivated. Unfortunately, once I stopped using the Spark the weight has slowly crept back on over the years and now I am at my alltime heaviest. For a tall girl (6'0") I know I'll never be 120 pounds, but I've gotta be better than this!

I'm really excited to use this tool again and get back into the shape I used to be. I'm so excited to get started...

I hope to be losing the weight with my boyfriend. He will probably not use this site, but we both want to get in shape for our wedding next fall and to have more energy through the day. Both of us are so tired and sluggish by 6pm every day and there's no reason for it other than laziness and bad eating habits!

My last goal is to eat out absoutely ZERO from fast food or any kind of snacks from gas stations, etc. I have to drive a lot to/from my job, and I stop constantly. I'm going to be packing my lunch from now on, and bringing a couple snacks for me to eat so I can fight the urge to buy junk!

I'm Ashlie from Texas. I originally signed up back in December, but I never did anything with my account. But I'm finally ready to loose some weight. I just graduated college (it took me 5 years!). Since this past May, everything about my life has changed, everything from getting engaged, loosing my student/dependent status on my insurances & student loans, moving out of my apartment and into my fiance's, searching for a new career, and becoming financially independent...I mean EVERYTHING...It's a little daunting at times and I've been anxious about it all, so I figured that in order to help myself feel better, I needed to make the decision to shed all the pounds gained in college and fix the way I felt about my self!

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, and hopefully together we can keep each other on track with the team goals and our own individual goals (I've got 30 lbs to lose by the end of January).

Message me if you need an accountability buddy!! God knows I need someone to keep that fire lit.

Hello Everyone,

I'm Dee, from North Carolina. I was on SP back in Jan. but got sidetracked and just gave up. I'm back with all my weight plus the 30 lb I gained when I stopped smoking. That's OK though, I'm ready to Rock and Roll. I retired last year, got my cranky knee replaced, started school for CNA and Med Aid, and joined e-harmony. I'm movin on and I'm not taking this weight with me!

Do we have a name for our team?, how about challenges?
