Hi everyone,
I live in PA. I'm married with 2 boys that are 10 and 12 years old. I work full time as a real estate agent. I've been battling my weight for 14 years... but I've only been exercising regularly for the last 4 years. I want 2011 to be the year I win the battle. My birthday is in May, I'd like to be down a size or 2 by then. I'm also planning on running my first 5k in May. I can't run a full mile yet- so I have a lot of work to do.
I love sparkpeople and the encouragement I get from everyone else on here.
I think it's awesome that they have a page for everyone who started the same week.... even though I'm pretty late to post on here!

My names Annette, i joined Sept.15th. I didnt post before because I'm puter illiterate but I think I've figured it out. I lost about 10lbs right away but with the holidays and now the stress of remodeling I've kind of stalled. I'm ready to get serios again and work off the rest.

Hello everyone!

I am a 39 year old mother of one living in Southern Indiana. A friend of mine referred me to this site and I love it. It's cool that the company you work for referred to this website.

Good news: you're not gaining weight anymore, and for us who have an underactive thyroid that's really a great news -it means that your thyroid level is stabilized, and now you'll be able to lose.
But take heart: it might take a little longer for us with a thyroid disorder, so hang in on there, and reflect on positive sides like being more active, feeling less tired than you used to be...
You'll lose, I can tell you... see my weight ticker, after gaining a lot of weight in two months when my thyroid started to play up with me, and after nearly two years of a strong battle to find the appropriate dose and to let my body adjust to it, I've been losing weight since a year, and more importantly I have been regaining my energy back!

Remember: Slow and steady wins the race!

Hi All
I am from Ohio,found this site thanks to the company I work for- they have a weight loss competition and referred us here. I LOVE the site and am so grateful that it is free. Have struggled with my weight for 16 years - since childbirth, thyroid disorder and hysto. I really appreciate the focus on fitness. the weight loss is going slowly but at least I am not gaining. Have found the teams and articles and blogs very helpful.

PS: I'm not married, been living for 6 years with my partner, and we have a wonderful cat. I'm also a vegetarian.
Spark is huge, and you'll find many people with the same profile, try to look for a buddy (the feature is available on your Sparkpage) close to your place, it's fun to have someone with whom you can go out to workout.

Hey everyone, I was looking at some friends sparkpages on here and noticed that they had "class of.." for teams so I searched mine and here I am.
First off my name is Kirbie, I'm 22 yrs old and am from Manitoba, Canada. I started with SP on the 13th of September and have been chugging along. When I started I weighed 243 lbs (I'm 5'5) and I am currently at 232lbs with my goal weight being around 140lbs.
Unlike a large majority of the people on the board, I am not married and I don't have any children. I have been with my SO Chris for almost 7 years and we have one furbaby; Gator an american bulldog. Besides working up a sweat exercising I also like to do crafty things like crocheting, stenciling shirts, and I make and sell soap with my sister. I also like playing rec sports and like anything about being outside in the summer and fall. I have been a vegetarian for almost 4 year now and am waiting to hear back about nursing school.
So, that's basically me in a nutshell- good work at finding this website and I wish everyone success in all of their goals, big or small!

Hi, my name is Lisa I am 35, married we have 6 children, 17,16,15,12,9,6. I am a Jr. at UALR in Little Rock Ar. That is were I was introduced to sparks, I joined the biggest looser program on campus. It has been hard we do 3, one hour workouts a week mandatory and then I do the rest on my own. I am truly amazed that it has been so fun and exiting for me. I am also enjoying the nutritional tracker. I do the same thing, plug the food in before I eat if I don't know the info about it. It has saved me from eating too many cals.
We are so blessed to have so many tools available to us, and for free.

The trackers have helped me so much… I never realized how many not just calories (but fats & sodium) are in foods until I started 2 log them. Sometimes I think I’m eating so healthy then I do the daily feedback on the nutrition tracker & it’s like… what just happened? And being a vegetarian I never seam 2 get enough protein. Now I put the food in first to c what it will do to the rest of the day then I know if I can eat it or not.

Hi my name is Kimberley

I joined this site on September 17, 2009. I am 38 year mother of two teenagers Aaron 17, and Cassie 15 and we have a ferret named Max (he looks like Stuart Little)

I was skinny all my life until I had children and even then I was 175 or less when I met my husband,
I quit smoking 5 years ago and gained 50 pounds, then two years ago I broke my ankle skating so I have not been active at all.

I have decided with all that I have accomplished in my life it is time to tackle the weight loss now as it is affecting my health ( I have mild sleep apnea)

My doctors recommendation is to lose 65 pounds and that has become my ultimate goal, although I want to lose the 50 that I gained from not smoking as my real celebration.

Hello, My name is Christine, I'm 35, and I have two teenage sons, a third if you count my husband ;)
I struggle primarily with portion control and motivation. I've noticed improvement, though, since joining Spark People. I am watching more of what I eat, how much I eat, and how much and often I exercise. I was doing Weight Watcher and lost about 15, kept 10 off, but I didn't feel as supported, and I couldn't continue due to the fees. I know that with support from other Sparkers and making a few changes of my own, that I can do this.

Hi all! I've been tracking and using the tools since I joined but am just getting involved with the forums.

I'm a 26-year-old mother of two and I'm a nurse. I'm hoping to get down to pre-marriage/baby size before we decide to have baby #3. I started jogging in the summer and I'm amazed at the increased energy when I'm working out regularly!

Right now I'm struggling to hang onto my motivation and I'm hoping that chatting here will give me a boost.

I look forward to getting to know some of you.

Hi everyone! This is a little late but... I'm Mandi, I'm 31, and from New Jersey.

I need to lose about 40 lbs, but I've broken that up into two time frames. I want to lose 20 by December. My friends at work and I started a weight loss challenge (we each put in $5 a week and the biggest loser percentage wise wins $50 each week). That is over in December, so that's why I broke it up.

Anway, long term goal is that we are going to Disney in October 2010, so I really want to be healthy (to be able to get around parks) and look good in a bathing suit at the water parks.

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone. I love the program so far!

Hi all, my name is Su, and I joined SP on 19 Sep 09. So far I'm not finding it too hard to get around the site. My PCP has informed me that I need to lose about 50lbs, or I'm at risk of having a heart attack or stroke. My dad died 32yrs ago of a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Hi, My name is Dar, I live in Minnesota and will turn 40 in just over a month. This year has been a whirlwind for me. My Mom was diagnosed with cancer at the same time I was quitting smoking last September. I didn't really notice the pounds creeping up on me because I was so focused on my Mom and my quit. After my Mom passed away last month, I finally started to see my weight gain. I have put on 25 pounds since I quit! I want to get this 25 pounds off plus another 25. I know I can do it with a good team to support me and an attitude of gratitude.

Just rejoined sparkpeople after being gone for a year. With Wieght and emotional eating I've done over the past year I'm not at the heaviest I've ever been. It has effected my health adn my relationships. now I have to get motivated!! I'm a mother of 2 wonderful daughters and in my mid-forties. I used to be fun I want to be again!

Hello!

My name is Liz; I am eighteen years old and a homeschooled senior in high school. :)

I have always been very shy and self-conscious, and I want that to change before I go to college next fall! I want to be able to enjoy friendships and maybe a relationship when I get to college.... Basically, I want to feel comfortable enough to have a social life in college rather as opposed to being an introverted mouse. :P

I am 5'6" and weigh 184 lbs. I hope to weigh 142 lbs. by sometime next summer. :)

Hi, all! I know I didn't sign in to here right away, but it's been a crazy week (not like they're not all!). Anyway, I'm a SAHM w/3 boys, wanting to get back down to my before-baby weight, ideally. Kind of new kind of not.. I have browsed Sparkpeople for a little while, but never actually jumped in to the message boards. I am 26 and married with 2 children. I am mostly a SAHM. I work about 12 hours a week. (Just to give myself a little sanity and spending money.) My husband is currently deployed to Iraq, and I hope to lose this baby weight( ok ok, not so much baby weight since the kiddos are gonna be 3 sson) by the time he gets back in April. I have lost 19 pounds since August 5th, and hope to keep the trend going.

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I am 30-year-old single-mother from Wisconsin. I have been a member of SP off and on since January 2008 and originally went from 213 pounds to 171 pounds in the first six months. After that, I stopped following the program and gained some back, then restarted and lost what I had gained, then stopped and gained some back. I'm sure that's a familiar story for a lot of us. Anyway, I am up to 177.4 pounds today and looking to finish what I started all that time ago. I would like to lose another 32 pounds (hence the name "persevere432"...cute, huh?). This summer has been a bit of a free-for-all when it comes to food and alcohol consumption so I'm thinking it's going to take a lot to get back on the wagon, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Hi I am Casey and I live in Houston, TX. I am 26 years old and had the most horrible feeling today. I stepped on the scale and it was err. The first time in my ENTIRE life I have weighed over 400 pounds. The last time I really went at a weight loss program I went from 380 to 315 and gained it all back. This time around will be much harder because I have a live in boyfriend that only eats bacon, fries, doritos, cheese and drinks nothing but dr pepper and cherry koolaid. He might be a fat-skinny but his cholesterol is 140 something and his iron is in the 50's. Totally not fair!

Hello everyone, I hope the morning finds you all well. I started strong this morning. I have been a member of SP before but did not to do well. I am 24 years old and I have five children. Lol, I know what many think when they read that but I love it. I was married and my husband passed away in January 2008, we had one daughter together who is now 4. I fell in love with the most amazing guy I have ever known (I have known him 10 years) and we have been a couple since November 15, 2008. He has four children ages 8, 7, 4, and 3. The boys are 7 & 8 and the 3 & 4 are girls. All five children live with us so we have a house full. But, I do absolutely love it. I want my five children to have the same things I would do if I only had my one.

I have struggled with weight for the past 8 years. It all started when I was diagnosed with epilepsy and they put me on medication for the seizures. My new medication that I started the beginning of 2001 made me gain over 40 pounds in 2 months, it was outrageous and affected me terribly. I am off of that medicine now and I am bound and determined to get back to a healthy weight so that I can play with my children without having to sit down and rest.

Hello everyone. I am Suzanne and I joined this morning. I am making my change starting today. A little about me...well I have 4 children, my husband and I have been together for 10 years and I am 30 years old (I mean young). I would love to be more active with my children but have found that doing tricks on a bike with them is out of the questions since I can hardly keep my balance with all my weight. so I stand outside and watch them and applaud them. My husband and younger two are very supportive of me losing weight as long it doesn't interfere with "regular life" i.e. the food they eats and their activity levels. I have started out doing the first segment of Cardio Boot Camp and would love to know how to put that into the my fitness section.

I have lots to lose. 5 years ago I weighed 11.5stone and would like to get back to that, and as I am 16stone I have a long way to go.

I look forward to getting inspiration from this site, and of course getting back into a size 14!

Hi there im from New Zealand, 29. I came upon SP a few years ago now, but havent actually done anything till now. So my goals are to lose 25kgs, by christmas and its definately going to be alot of work but achievable as i am so sick of being the way that i am, with all this extra weight.

right now im just starting out with SP on the food tracker and fitness tracker. Then eventually expanding to the daily exercises and goals that are on here for the different spark teams.

So please dont be shy and drop a line one thing id really like to know at the moment is how do you change the sunday - saturday schedule to mon - sun in the different goals.

Good Morning Everyone I am starting a new lifestyle today.. I am a mom of 2 great children but always lose the energy due to weight issues to have as much fun with them as I would like I work in a office and the vending machines and Tim hortons are my weakness a few co -workers told me about this site so here I am it may take a few days to get this all down but I will learn it... I am also starting with a personal trainer today wish me luck!!! here is to a new me

My name is Sephani (no T!) and I found this site via a friend. Both me and my SO want to get back into shape and lose some excess poundage. We've already started daily walks for at least 30mins, often longer, every day so now I would like to keep an eye on our caloric intake.

I'm starting off at 210lbs and would like to reach 160 or lower by August next year.

Hi all! I'm Michelle and I am VERY new to this site, so please bear with me.

I'm turning 40 at the end of the year, single and a self-professed workaholic. I'm hoping to turn a new leaf by finding a balance between work and working towards a healthier life. I come in weighing 247 pounds, and would LOVE to reach 170 by this time next year. I want to form good habits that last me the rest of my life, and I'm hoping that Spark can give me the tools to do just that.

I am Beverly, a coleader with MIKIIO. I am 58 years old and live in Florida. I have 2 grown children and just got a new grandson (the first!) on Aug 6th. I started out at 197 pounds when I joined SP. I had trouble tieing my shoes without grunting! Could not walk to the mailbox without getting winded. I am happy to say that now I am only 170 pounds and feel much better! Thanks SP - It really does work!

My goal is to continue to eat healthy and exercise. I would also like to get to my goal weight.

I'll start. I'm Valerie, age 40. I live in France close to the Swiss border.
I found SP in October 2008 after gaining 30 pounds in a couple of months due to an underactive thyroid.

My goal right now is to refocus on tracking my food and to exercice more.
I'm also training for my first cross-country race next February.

Can't wait to hear more about all of our new team members!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!
