I read somewhere that cooking the same meals in rotation keeps you from overeating because the food is no longer exciting to you. I tired that approach and it backfired on me. I ate more snacks because dinner was no longer satisfying. I love to cook and try new recipes and realize it's all about portion control for me. I hope to share my favorite recipes with you and look forward to trying some of yours.

Hello!!!

I'm a 29 year old woman who has been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years. God has blessed us with 2 children. Our son who is 9 and our daughter who is 1. We live in the southern part of Kentucky, but I was born and raised in a small, farming community about 45 min out of Cincinnati, Ohio.

I've always had a hard time with my weight. I always hoped I would grow out of my whole "chunky" stage and I did...just not the way that I was hoping. I grew right out of my "chunky" stage into my current "obese" stage. As of right now, I need to lose around 110 lbs to get to a healthy BMI. Huge task, but with my family's support, you all cheering me on, and God helping me, I know that I can do this!

Feel free to stop by my page and introduce yourself. Also feel free to add me to your friends. I can't wait to meet all of you and to watch you guys not only meet your goals, but bust through them!

Hi my name is Mary. I picked the name star gazer because I love to dream and lay in the grass to look at stars or clouds. I rarely have time to do that now since I'm all grown up. But that is the little piece of my childhood I desperately cling to.
I absolutely love to cook. My son isn't exactly a picky eater but he's been known to turn away some food for whatever reason. I'm hoping we can share great recipes together and I can learn some tricks. I'm not a very experienced cook and I don't pretend that all my recipes turn out well. I have a hard time following directions. My husband always laughs watching me cook. I have a recipe in front of me but I hardly ever follow the recipes step by step. I'll estimate measuring and add spices that aren't called for but I think would make a good addition.
I really need ideas for sack lunches. All I know are the tried and true sandwiches. My son is staying kindergarten and I don't want him bored with what I make for him.

Hello, I just joined the group and finding lots of interesting topics. After 2 posts I decided I better come say hi. My name is Tammy, I got my chat name crazyndncook, after I set 80 grams of butter on fire.

I am a Professional Cook, not to be confused with Chef. I took 1 1/2 years cook training, worked in a small gas station kitchen before moving on to the local independent school to become their cook. I love my job, well most of the time. There are days I do get frustrated with things, but then a kid just comes along and makes my day.

I absolutely love to cook, not only do I do it as my career, I do come home to cook for my family too. I also bake all our bread loaves, the baking of sweets is being taken over by my DDs' now. I also do preserving in summer, by canning, dehydrating and freezing. I make lots of freezer meals for those nights I don't want to cook. I also garden.

Hi there. I too love to cook...well actually I love good food and love to eat. My husband and boys (when they lived at home) were great eaters. Not picky at all. I have always menu planned with at least 2 or 3 new menus in a week ....... Now I still menu plan but 1 or 2 are actually new. Strange when I think about it. My boys are actually more adventurous then I am when it comes to eating and cooking. I just love that

Hi my name is Jessie, I am 31. I am a single mom of 6, 5 girls and 1 boy. I babysit 3 more little one. My oldest is 9 the youngest it 15 months.

I love to cook, I will not lie and say i am great at it. I am always trying new recipes, not all turn out, but i enjoy trying to fix them and make them better. My real love is the baking, I am good at that.

I really need to work on healthier recipes that are cheap that will make picky eaters happy. , it is not easy to feed 9 kids on little money.

Hi, my name's Jackie and I'm 41 . I'm a full time police dispatcher, wife and mom to five. Even though I'm busy I really enjoy cooking, and am constantly searching out new recipes that are quick and healthy, using little to no processed foods.

I'm excited to be a part of a team that loves to cook as much as I do!

Hello! I'm a personal/private chef, mother of 3 and a busy person overall!

I went Vegetarian/Vegan back in 2012, shed 35 pounds and gained most of it back when I fell off the wagon in 2013. As of February 1, 2014 I am 215 pounds and want to lose 65 pounds by years end.

Update: As of TODAY, I am 200 pounds!!! 15 pounds less than what I was in February and 1 pound away from being in ONEderland!!! #OhYeahBaby

Nice to meet you all! emoticon emoticon emoticon

This is my second start with Spark. I gave up the first time because I got tired of tracking everything.

I love to cook and try new recipes, especially ones from foreign cultures. I love to bake and have people over for dinner and get-togethers.

Looking forward to learning some new recipes.

Hi Jenn, good to have you on the team. I'm relatively new to this team as well. I've been cooking since I was 12 years old. I initially learned from my mother but have learned a lot over the years. My wife and I both cook and sometimes it's a contest to see who gets to cook a meal. Stick around and I'm sure you will pick up a lot of good information here. Also, If you haven't already done so, check out SparkRecipes.com. You'll find lots of great recipes there.

Hi Terri, Welcome to SparkPeople. If you want to remove a recipe from your food tracker, go to "my recipes". It's over at Spark Recipes. Then click on "my recipe box". That's where you will have the option to remove or delete a recipe from your tracker.

Hello, my name is Terri and I have been with SparkPeople for 9 days. I do love to cook, however I have a very small kitchen and an even smaller budget for food. Still, I do the best that I can.

I watch a lot of cooking shows, get recipes from friends on Facebook and I have several "Taste of Homes" and "Weight Watchers" cookbooks. I do change a lot of the recipes as my husband does not like spicy food and he is diabetic, so no sugar.

I added a recipe to the food tracker and now I want to take it off .. is there a way to do that?

Hi there, I'm new to the team! I'm an ex pro-chef with over a decade of experience. I've worked in AZ, CA and NY and have also done stints as a caterer. Now I mostly cook only at home but will still take on food related jobs when I can.

I look forward to discussing food/new ingredients/recipes with everyone!

Hello my name is Deb & I just signed up yesterday so I am learning my way around the site. I enjoy cooking & baking and always have. I knew this would be a great team to sign up with because I am always looking for great recipes. I would say my biggest struggle will be making time to eat while at work. I own my own business and I am not able to take a time out to eat when there are customers in the store. The Christmas Season is also on it's way which means I am living at my store so any quick, easy, crockpot, 30 minute meal recipes will for sure come in handy!!!! So looking forwarding to getting to know many of you and enjoying delicious recipes all while shrinking myself into a healthier bracket!

Hi everyone. My name is Gracie and I love the kitchen. I know it sounds dumb but when I'm working or watching tv or just laying around, my brain often drifts back to what I can cook or what I can put together for myself and my family. I love experimenting to make recipes healthier and I like trying out new ways of cooking and figuring out how to use new ingredients. Half of my college course was spent in the kitchen, so I guess it's really no surprise.

Looking forward to learning new things with all of you

Hiya, I'm Hollye and my favourite place is most definitely the kitchen. Cooking is simply amazing, creating dishes which just taste so so good. I am always on the look out for something new to make, but now obviously less calories would be fantastic.

Hello. Tried SP a few years ago and I did drop some weight but it came back. I'm trying to lose enough to look good in my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding in September and then keep going so that next summer's a bikini summer. Finally! Especially after finding out how big I've gotten and I've never been this big before. It needs to stop.

I teach English and subjects in English at a university in China. I've been in China for 4.5 years now and love it. It's just hard because I can't find low-cal, low sodium or low fat products here so it's all gotta be all natural cooking. And there's no turkey. So any delicious but not spicy recipes with simple, fresh ingredients I'd love to know about. Most veg, fruit are here and the meats I can easily get are beef, chicken, lamb and pork.

Happy cooking!

Hi Everyone, my name is Bev and I just joined this team, I am from Sacramento CA, retired and growing up in an Italian family where food was cooked in abundance and was the focal point of any gathering, having difficulty with portion control is my biggest issue. Have tried most things but still a struggle. I feel my mother is looking over my shoulder telling me to "finish". I went to her home and she opened the door and said , "how come you are so fat?" and then asked me what I wanted to eat. So being on SP has helped me so much and hoping this team can lend more support BEV

Hello, everyone. I'm Cheryl, 64, and crept above my WW goal and I'm on the journey back. Love cooking and see it as a great benefit...making food healthy and delicious is so achievable. Latest concoction was a broccoli, potato, butternut squash soup...red chili flakes gave it a nice kick...and it allowed me to use my favorite kitchen tool...my immersion blender :-) Happy cooking!

Make sure the glass is always half full!

Hey, my name is Michelle. I am a 21-year-old college student in California. I have used SparkPeople before (for varying reasons). Currently, my intention is to lose 59lbs so I can enter a police training academy and feel more comfortable with my body. I hope Sparkpeople and this team will help keep me focused and give me tools to be successful.

Hello everyone.
I'm Toni, mom to 4 great grown up kids, two still at home. I grew up in a large family with a Dad who loved to cook and shared that with me. I work in retail and own more crock pots than anyone else I know so am always looking for great crock pot recipes.
I've been on Spark People for a while now, fell off the wagon but picked myself up and climbed back on :)
This time around I've been incorporating Chia seeds into my meals and it seems to be helping me stay fuller longer.
I'm really glad that I found this team!

Hi, I'm Kim. I'm a 45 yr old married/mother of two teens. I am a chronic yo-yo fit & forget it person. I've lost up to 30 lbs more than once and have gained almost all of it back again. Last year down to 142....back up to 165 just last week. Happy to report I'm back on track and at 162 as of this a.m. I know exactly what to do...just get tired of doing it and say "forget it" only to have to start over. I know the health risks with this and want to stop the madness. One thing I've found...strangely enough...is that when I'm cooking new recipes (or old, but I love trying new ones) that I eat less. My hands are busy preparing and I don't really tend to be a snacking cook (thankfully). Soooo...my goal for foods is trying new recipes....and more planning for the weekdays (which are crazy in my house)...cooking soups on the weekends, preparing egg meals and freezing them for quick grab & go meals when cereal doesn't sound good. Looking forward to sharing my tested recipes and getting new ones.

Hi everyone! I'm a church musician, chorus director, and mom of twin girls from the Atlanta area and learning to cook healthy, tasty food is a big priority for me in my transition to a healthful life! My husband and I both love to cook gourmet meals, but gourmet usually equals lots of butter, heavy cream, potatoes, cheese, and all that other fun stuff. My daughters are fantastic eaters (praise the Lord!) so we don't have trouble with veggies or anything like that, so I am open to lots of suggestions! I also want to learn how to modify/adapt favorite recipes in addition to finding new favorites.

Love to cook... love to eat. I've decided that I should learn how to be more conscientious about it, so here I am. Looking forward to trying out some new recipes and maybe sharing some of my own; AND losing weight in the process.

Hi y'all! By serendipity, I just learned of this team by another member. I'm delighted to learn of you. I was looking for an active, positive team that integrates.

I'm from New Orleans, new to the team, not new to Sparks.

Hey there: You can do it. I am also on synthroid medication but I make sure to exercise as much as I can every day (since I started on November 12). I am lucky to live near the beach in Florida and my husband and I are both retired and we love to cycle everywhere. This is a very bike friendly city. I also love this diet site. I was going to join Weight Watchers, but this is free!!!! And so much fun to interact with all the members. I am so lucky to have my health and a wonderful new husband to exercise with. Good luck to you. Have a great Christmas and a wonderful, healthy, happy New Year. emoticon

Love the idea of cooking big. I also do that on the weekends and then put meal size portions in plastic containers and label them and put in the freezer. So great to come home to a ready made dinner from freezer to microwave or oven. Love to cook with fresh veggies from the farmer's market here in Saint Augustine, Fl. Also love to cycle around this area. My new husband and I live close to the beach and it is so great to be here. Hey, I just got some awesome ideas for breakfasts on this site. Love them and I do really love to cook. My husband is naturally slim, he loves all my muffins and cakes which I freeze in batches for him. I have to try to stay away from that stuff as much as possible, but like you, I just love love to cook. Especially when it is cool outside, there I am cooking up a big batch of healthy soup. So cozy. I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and happy new year. emoticon

Hey Guys: I have been a Spark person for one week and I was doing fantastic until Thanksgiving. (less said the better), but now I am back on with a vengence. I cycled and walked for 40 minutes today with my husband. We live in Florida, even though it is kind of cold right now with the wind from the ocean. Started out with a very healthy scrambled eggs, 1 tsp butter and fresh veggies and a little low fat cheese. Drinking my water too!!!

I am from Dublin, Ireland, mother of 2, grandmother of 3, and I look darn good for 65. I absolutely love this diet site. So many nice friends. I hope everybody loves themselves as they are, but keep on getting healthier.

I grew up preparing meals for a family of four on a very limited budget and with self-taught cooking skills. This upbringing has helped me learn to use what you got, and eat fairly UNHEALTHY! I still stumble upon veggies and fruits that I have never heard of, tasted, or know which they are! Lol.

This being said I started the Mediterranean Diet through Arrowhead Health Centers in prep for Lap-band and I love the challenges I'm presented with and love the variety of things I am learning to cook. I love this diet and it will become my lifestyle. Biggest Challenge here is I am an over-achiever. I need to learn what can be frozen to reheat later, or cooked later, (aka what should be cooked and frozen and not cooked and frozen) and how to freeze things (so they keep) and how to know when to dispose of them? Does anyone have suggestions, or already have these things figured out?

Have been a Sparker for a few months and have learned a lot.
Have always loved everything to do with food. Growing, researching, picking, preparing, creating with it. Guess you could call me a foodie.
Cooking for a family of six or more I had always done big batch cooking for many years. These days I am trying to cook for one or two without a year's worth of leftovers. Possibly some of the team members can relate.
One of the reasons the weight has packed on is there is just too much good food in my kitchen!
Would love to get together with local Sparkers and do a pot luck weekly or monthly. Anyone interested? Oh yes, I live in Margate, Florida. WooHoo.

I am a retired lady now and want to get 40 to 50 lbs off. I am terribly about eating more than once a day. I need to reset my metabolism. I do love to cook when my husband is home, he is a pilot and gone a fair amount, it's easy not to eat ! I do like to spin and walk. I am synthroid medication so it might be a little more tough than 15 yrs ago. I am so excited to have had my friend tell me about this site, it's so informative and makes you accountable to yourself. Good luck to everyone, I just want to do well at this, make it through the upcoming holidays without gaining and hitting it hard in January. It might take me that long to get through everything on this site! I think the excercise demo's are great. Have a great rest of October !

Hi - I'm Sara from Ontario, Canada. My fiance and I are in a weight loss competition right now, so I prepare the majority of our foods at home since we are avoiding refined and processed products. It's been easier than I thought it would be, but the only downfall is that if I try a new recipe and it doesn't turn out, we can't just order out!

My name is Pat. I am a life member of Cooking Club of America and discovered I actually enjoy cooking several years ago. Surprised my whole family.
I am always looking for ideas and ways to use herbs. I would also like to find a formula or website that will help me determine cals, carbs, fat, protein, etc. for recipes. Most of my cookbooks predate giving this information with each recipe. emoticon

Good Afternoon,

I'm trying to lose my last fifty pounds. I know it's going to be a difficult task, but I believe I can do this. I also have a love for cooking. I would love to go to cooking school, but I can't justify the expense. I'm from the midwest and I enjoy keeping things simple. I feel if you love the people you cook for and love what you're doing, it will show up in your food. And it does.
