Hi everyone, I joined this team earlier this week. I was browsing the different teams that were available on sparkpeople.com and this one caught my eye. I read some of the posts and thought I should give it a try.
I am definitely guilty of multitasking while eating making it difficult to enjoy my food and listen to what my body is telling me. I'm hoping that I can use this team and its challenges to help me learn to eat more mindfully.
I am also interested in applying mindfulness to other areas of my life. Right now I'm reading a book called Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston which discusses incorporating meditation and conscious eating, among other things, into one's lifestyle. Last week I watched a PBS documentary on the Buddha which also described mindfulness. It made me realize that in general I rush through my days always thinking about what I need to do next rather than simply being present in the moment. This is something I desperately want to change. Anyway, glad to be part of the team and I'm looking forward to participating in this week's challenge.
