You've made a good choice. I've been using SparkPeople since August 29 and have gone from 145 to 141.5. emoticonemoticon

After seeing this website in a magazine, and after having three seperate unrelated people recommend it to me, I figured I'd check it out. So far I'm loving the quizzes and how the nutrition is tracked (though I wish the search tool was easier/more accurate to use) and how vast the resources are. I've been on and off this site (in between calls at work) for hours and still feel I've barely tipped the iceberg!

So anyway, you can call me K. I'm 25 and married 2 years to the first "official" boyfriend I've ever had. Since falling in love, we've both gotten a little comfortable with each other. That and stress has put on more than a few pounds on us both! For me, who was overweight to begin with, this has been a huge struggle. My mom and grandmother are overweight, so I have a family history, and never learned to eat really healthy from an early age. I'm currently trying to learn and apply new knowledge so that I can ultimately reach a healthy weight. I am going to have children in a few years and don't want to start off overweight when I get pregnant. Also, I want to be healthy so that I can pass this healthy lifestyle onto them.

Thus, my reason for being here. I have already to some extent been exercising and making healthier eating choices on my own. I j ust need help with support and community. Family and friends, as good intentioned as they are, don't suffice as cheerleaders... after one post on a support blog they forget to check and I'm writing to no one. I have found that I do NEED cheerleaders... at least until I see that my efforts are making a difference in my body and health, which so far has been lacking.

Anyway... this is my introduction I suppose! Have a good day!

" When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it - but all that had gone before." ~Jacob Riis
