I also have a Sea Eagle 370 kayak and I love it. I have a friend at work that I told her that I was buying one for my RV that have . She looked at their Web page and also bought one.
I did have to buy a kayak cart for mine, which makes it alot easier to take down to the water.
I haven't had a problem with mine and my Jack Russell Skip loves to go with his favorite people.

If anyone is looking for a first boat, you might want to consider an inflatable. I have a Sea Eagle kayak, and I love it! I've only been out in it twice, due to a variety of factors, but I sure look forward to going out on Pymatuning Lake again! It's light, tough and fits in the closet of my small apartment. Anybody else out there belong to paddling.net?

I've never built a kayak, but there was one being raffled off at a local market last summer. I didn't win it ~ it was a BEAUTIFUL wooden boat.

Has anyone built their own kayak? I am getting ready to build something, and am not sure what :-).

Hi everyone. I just joined this team. I am waiting for spring thaw to open the lake. I am new to kayaking, but have enjoyed canoeing for many years. Hoping to build some better core muscling this summer. Happy paddling to all. :o)

Hi everyone! I am new to Spark and super excited to find fellow kayakers on here! I went for my first time this year and absolutely fell in love with it!! All it took was one trip down the Conneticut River and I was HOOKED!! (lol, I also love to fish) Went out, bought my own and have been going as often as I can! I live in New England, so it is too cold now, but man I can't wait for spring!!!

Hoping to test out several kayaks on the 24th... have an hour drive to do it but really looking forward to it. Long as it doesn't snow yet again... grr... looking like it today again.

Yes, mine worked out perfectly through one of the person-to-person on-line exchanges. They needed an upgrade, and this kayak was the perfect price and perfect type for me. A Godsend.

Outdoor toys.

...although...I do host games parties with my two boys (11 and 13) playing "Munchkin" and then educational games that they don't know they're getting educated with ;-p.

Hi Mountainbiker1 and welcome!

I totally agree with the purchase of a used kayak and that your taste/needs will change over time.

I just bought 2 from a local outfitter and so that worked out well for me.

Good for you on the motorcycle, fun! But, yeah, you have to get the kayak too...the more toys the better!

Check out your local outfitting stores too. They usually have good deals at the end of the season when they are selling off the rental fleets but you might find something good right now too. Ebay, craigslist- all great sites with good prices and some free gear usually thrown in!
Happy Paddling!

Yes, a used kayak is a good idea. I found a used, fiberglass, 17' sea kayak in Seattle...with paddle.
It's a few years old, has a couple of fiberglass repairs. It sets very low in the water, and is easy to paddle. It is great on the Snake or Columbia Rivers I usually paddle on, or of course a large lake, or the ocean. However, for small, fast rivers a shorter, more maneuverable would be more fun.

The advice to me for my first boat was to get a used one. The rational was that what I wanted in a boat would change quickly as my skill improved.

My nasme is Kevin, I live in Ohio. I have only been in a Kayak a few time, but it did not take long to fall lin love with it. There is nothing like paddling down a quiet river or across a calm lake (done both). I was hoping this year to get a Kayak for my birthday this month, but instead my wife is trying to get me a motorcycle. Which is awesome especially since the price of gas lately. My only hope is when we sell our extra vehicle to get the bike I have enough left over to get my boat (hoping). Best of luck to all. Pray for warm weather!
