To give you an overview of my area, it looks like some parts of Colorado. You'll feel like home! :)

Thanks for welcoming me!

I begun with cross-country skiing which is more "normal" considering this area--Jura is not a high-mountain area. In schools during the PE class, they teach cross-country skiing.

I'd suggest you to begin with classic cross-country skiing rather than the skate skiing technique unless you already pratice inline rollerblades or skating, it would be less frustrating... and painful!

Welcome to the team! I don't think it matters WHERE we SP skiers or boarders are - it's the fact that we love this sport.
You seem to love all variations of the snow sport! Good for you - I, personally, only downhill ski and snowshoe.
Just curious - which did you pick up first? I just wonder because I want to try cross country (even if it's just to say I tried).

I hope and I am sure you'll have a great time there. I have never been in Avoriaz nor specifically in La Tania--although I have been in the "3 Vallées" resorts: Les Menuires, Courchevel and Val Thorens.

Last year, I went to Chamonix in April, and I was skiing on "spring snow." Some don't like it, but I really enjoyed it, and will go back this year at the same period.

I'm from France, and live in the Jura mountains close to Switzerland. I have written blogs, pictures included, about my skiing in my area if you're interested.

I am a downhill skier, and a cross-country skier (classic style). Last year I have taken skate skiing lessons (freestyle cross-country skiing), and really enjoyed it; I also tried snowshoeing, and I am planning to buy my own this year--our snowshoes are way smaller than the Canadian ones.

After breaking my malleolus bone in June, I am resuming a ST program to be in good shape for the winter season which could arrive anytime as of mid-October.

Chances are I won't see you on the slopes, but I look forward to getting to know you, and to discovering the spots where you all go skiing.
