hi everyone, I just started with sparkpeople just about a week ago and I am just trying new things out on this page. I have to say I was happy to find this team because I been snowboarding for since I was like 12 or 13. The last 3 years I haven't gone to the slops once. I have to say can't wait for nexts year because I want to be fit enought to race my husband and show him what I can do and beat him in a little race. well good luck to everyone
I'm new to this team too-but very glad to find it. We ski for one week a year-it's a long journey for us (we live in England, we ski in France). Our ski trip will be mid February so I'm getting started on training for it. At least I should be lighter this year than I have been for many which should help. Tessa

Welcome I live in DE and we used to have one local ski area called Chadds Peak years ago ~ which was nicknamed Chadds Pimple and rightly so ;-)
Live close enough to PA to go night skiing in Allentown PA and go to Elk and the Poconos allot. Also love ski weeks to Killington,. I have not been in 5 years, but I am soooooo ready for 2010. I love everything about skiing. Only thing is that the skis have changed (tips) so we will need to get rentals for the first time. The only thing I need to prepare for is to hit the gym for the advanced weight lifting machines for my legs. For some reason, skiing uses diff muscles than anything else I have ever done.

Oooh, now I'm jealous. You are just SURROUNDED by awesome skiing. One of my ultimate rewards for losing weight is to take the 4-day skeleton camp at the Olympic center down there. Although, admittedly, I'm kind of hoping that Whistler offers one in the future (since they had to build a track for 2010), because it would be easier travel.
Thanks for the welcome! I live in western Washington (state). My home mountain is Stevens Pass, but I like to day trip down to Crystal every once in a while. We usually tried to pop up to Whistler once a year.
Welcome Melissa! Skiing is the most awesome thing ever isn't it? My family and I went up to the resort today to pick up our passes- our season will start in 4-6 weeks depending on the weather. We hiked around the neighboring trails and there was already some snow there. Where do you ski?

Hi, I'm Melissa. I joined SparkPeople a week ago and the team today. Nice to meet you!
My husband introduced me to skiing about 12 years ago. We skied a few times a year for a few years but never very often -- I kept getting sidelined by injuries or finances or other obligations. Then I simply got too fat for it to be fun anymore, and thus I haven't skied in, oh, six or seven years.
All that is going to change. I sincerely doubt if I'll bein shape to ski THIS season, but I can certain be so by next season. THIS season I'm just going to follow vicariously as you guys ski, and I'm going to plan my weight-loss rewards around next season.
