2012 will be my fourth visit to Augusta. Two of the first three were business related so I never left the clubhouse area. The first was '92 final round and I enjoyed a walk around the entire course and witnessed Fred Couples' miracle on No. 12 - when his ball perched precariously in the rough leading down to Rae's Creek after all others got wet. Couples went on to win and that shot turned the tide for his final round. My friend has never been so I'll be giving him the full tour of the grounds.... but the first stop? THE MASTERS Gift Shop.

Hi Walt. Welcome to the Team. We are a small group, but there has been some growth in the group in just the last month or so. I believe some of our members are golfers, some are followers of the Tour, and most are both.
Your goal of losing 15 pounds in 6 weeks sounds slightly on the aggressive side, but probably doable, especially if a factor in your weight gain was a medicine you are no longer taking. I also certainly get the office job thing. I'm only at my desk the typical 5 days a week, but when I here I get as much physical activity as, oh maybe my stapler!
I am jealous of your "reward." I followed a practice round for the U.S. Open at Congressional last summer and had a blast. I can only imagine how great Augusta National would be. Enjoy, and let us know if there are any questions you'd like input on or need any help with the site, weight loss in general, just want to talk golf, or whatever. Good luck!

Resident of Columbus, Ohio and ready to get my game into gear. Alas, my weight ballooned by +25 LBS dating back to last September. Some I can blame on meds taken for high triglycerides (4 months; quite on 05 FEB) and some I can blame on a 7-day office work week. Still, no excuse for loading on the LBS.
So I found SPARKPEOPLE and think this is a really cool community of people who have nearly identical goals: lose weight, reestablish health and GOLF!
My short term goal is to lose 15 LBS by April 1 (6 weeks). It's a lot, I know but a friend has invited me to attend two Masters' practice rounds. YEAH! So those extra 15 LBS have got to go if I'm going to enjoy WALKING 'round Augusta National.
