Welcome to the team! This is a great place to get some motivation and encouragement.
I hope you find something at the gym that you really enjoy doing. Be sure to try all the different machines. If they have classes, try some of those too. I have been going since the first of November a number of times a week and I have really gotten to the point where I look forward to it.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit. - Aristotle
Welcome to the group, BRZY. I am so sorry about your circumstances, any hope of getting back home, or is that gone? I have family who lost everything in Katrina in New Orleans, I know how hard it was for them and how long it took for things to even begin to feel normal. But it will happen!
Good for you for taking those steps - join that gym, find something to catch your attention and do it!

Welcome. The emotions surrounding being displaced during any disaster especially something as dramatic as Hurricane Sandy was can really disrupt our eating. Making a plan and figuring out ways to take care of yourself so that you can regain your momentum. You are in the right place and going in the right direction. Love yourself, take care of your emotions as well as your physical needs, don't give up, and have some FUN along this journey.
With love and caring from Nancy ... wishing all of you a wonderful, blessed, and precious day.
Welcome to our group, I am so sorry you have been displaced, it must be really stressful! That would certainly make me eat everything in sight!! Most of us can find good reason not to exercise, you really have to give up the excuses and just do it. I find that if I can just get myself started then I will go the whole way!
Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement. -Foster C. Mcclellan

BRZYMOM, One step at a time. You can do it. Your health is worth it. Not just your physical health. I think most people are very good at making "excuses" not to take care of themselves. I did it for many years. I am now being accountable for my health. I make eating right and exercising as part of my daily routine. And part of that is setting goals for the year. I am running 3 half-marathons this year, my first one March 24 in Dallas with my youngest brother and his wife.
Time to get serious in my never ending quest for weight loss and fitness. I am a lazy, exercise hating person. That is no longer an acceptable excuse. I am feeling decrepit right now, aches and pains in joints and everywhere else. Nearby gym has a deal on $24 for 30 days. I can't not take it. It will get me out of the apartment.
My family and I are displaced as a result of Hurricane Sandy. At first I was so stressed and overwhelmed I lost weight. Then we got settled in a temporary apartment and I am bored, lonely and depressed and oh yeah--eating everything in sight. Time to get my act together. I am going to join that gym for the month and see how it goes. I am going to re-join weight watchers. I am going to re-read the Spark book.
