Hi and welcome to the team! It sounds like you have a really good start, modifying those favorite recipes will really help. Exercise seems to be hard for many people, you have to find something that you will do and keep doing. Walking at lunch is a really good idea, I live about 2 miles from where I work so I walk to and from work everyday. It makes me exercise because I have to get there!!!

COFFEE100. Verbalizing what we want change is very great beginning. I love to cook too but like you I am doing a lot of modification of old recipes to healthy ones. My problem was that I also like to eat while I am cooking. I have replaced this by doing exercise while cooking. Instead of sitting at the kitchen table I run to basement and do a few ST exercises. I have also learned to cook large batches and freeze them in small portions so when I come home late I have some thing quick that is healthy instead of reaching for bread. For exercise, you are doing it, just add in ST when you have some time even sitting on your desk. Check out sparkspeople videos.

I excited to be part of this group. I just re-joined about a week ago. I am 51 and have about 60 pounds to lose, and a lot of old (bad) habits to replace. The problems I'm going to face is that first, I love to cook/eat and second, I hate to exercise. I love the recipe site where I can add my old family favorite recipes to see how much I can eat and still stay in my calorie range. I am using it to tweak some of those recipes to make them healthier and in some cases even better. The exercise issue will be a little tougher. I am walking during my lunch hour at work which has two benefits; it gets me away from my desk and burns off some calories. I'd love to hear any ideas or tips to make this journey a little easier.
