I understand too as that is what we had to do with our Honeybear. I'll never forget the day we took her in and I knew it would be the last time to see her. My heart still hurts when I think of it. We are all right here with you. emoticon

I totally understand exactly what you mean as we had to do this with Richelle's Tyler. Memories we will never forget.
Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Try to celebrate his wonderful life and all that he meant to you!!! HUGS!!

It will be one year tomorrow (4/30) that we had to put our precious "Bob" dog down....it does not seem possible. I will never forget that Saturday afternoon as long as I will live even though I know that I did the right thing.

Your love for Dakota is very evident as is your grief. Our special friends become so important to us because they are our family. However he is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge and is no longer suffering. Just remember the love he gave you and know that he would want you to live your life. Keep those happy and wonderful memories in your heart and smile when you think of him for he will be with you always!!! Any time you think of him, he will be right there with you in spirit and in love.
My heart is breaking for you as you go through this very difficult time. Our grief is personal and we all deal with it differently. There is no time limit and it will sneak up on you when you least expect it. Just know that it is normal. Know that we on this team are here for you and we all understand exactly what you are going through. May God bless you with the peace, comfort and understanding necessary to help you through the rough days ahead. You will remain in my prayers.

you don't know how happy i was to find this group...this past sunday night, i had to put my 13 year old "puppy" to sleep....i didn't know it would be so hard...
Dakota developed a cancerous tumor 2 years ago...in the spring, he developed a small cyst like lump, it didn't seem to be a problem, but it became an open sore, which i tried to keep clean with peroxide solution...it got to a point that it smelled terrible and called the vet...i had an appointment for wed night...however, by late evening, he couldn't stand, i realized he hadn't eaten or taken water all evening...i called the vet again and took him right down..Castle Shannon Vet Hospital has a wonderful caring staff...the vet examined him and we decided the best thing was to put Dakota to sleep...i cried as everything was prepared and i promised him i would bring him home...I sat in the floor with Dakota as the process began...he put his head on my knee and gently fell asleep..
I picked him up tonight...however, i cannot bury him outside...he was always an inside dog..i will buy him an urn for Christmas and keep him with me...
I never thought it would be so hard...he was my best friend, my pain in the butt, my puppy...
Rest in peace Dakota...i will always remember you emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am so sorry for the loss of your very special furbabies even though it brought you to our great team. The loss of our special babies can be very traumatic for us. Your grief is very real and you need time to grieve for them. Each of us are different in our grieving so allow yourself all the time necessary to heal. Your tears may come at unexpected moments and may happen a year or two down the road but your memories will remain with you forever and they will always have a special part of your heart. Having them in our lives and sharing our love with them is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever known. May the good times you shared with them outweigh the grief you are experiencing as you remember all the joy and fun they brought into your life.
Please share stories with us as sometimes that really does help and we would love to hear them. In the meantime, I will keep you in my prayers.
Hugs,
Helen

We are very glad to welcome you to the team, but you have my sympathies on the loss of your three furbabies. It is one of the most difficult things to open ourselves up to the loss of their love by accepting them into our hearts and homes. It is so rewarding though! My "kids" are ALWAYS happy to see me... Sometimes too happy in their excitement. I wouldn't trade that feeling for anything else in the world. Your babies have had very long lives, and you've had the opportunity to make wonderful memories. There are still days when you'll struggle, but the memory will live on forever in you and will offer you comfort and peace as time passes. We'd love to hear stories and know what made each of your babies so special. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers...

So sorry to hear of the loss of so many good friends in such a short time. It is hard to say goodbye even when you know it is the kindest thing for them. They come into our lives and touch it in so many ways and no matter what they are always there for us. As Goozlebear said we know what you are going through and are here for you if you need us.

Hi my sweet friend and welcome to the Rainbow Bridge team. I am glad to have you hear but of course, so sorry for the loss of your precious furbabies. I'm also sorry I didn't invite you to join this team when you first posted about the loss of your babies. This is a sweet and caring team and we certainly know what you are going through. It does take awhile to get over the loss of our pets. They are our family, actually I've been closer to mine than some of my family!!!!

Hugs to you and I'm glad to have you here with us. We are all waiting to see our precious ones at the Rainbow Bridge where they will be waiting for us.

Hi~~

Wish I would have found this team a couple of months ago, but better late than never. We have been through our share of heartache over the past months with the loss of 3 of our beloved fur babies. Within a 14 month period I had to put down our 17 yr old Sadie kitty (had her since she was 4 weeks old), our 17.5 yr old Bob dog (adopted him at 6 weeks old) and our 21 yr old Pandy kitty (had him since he was 6 yr old). Needless to say many tears have been shed and no pounds have been lost....but that I guess is all part of having these wonderful pets. I know the heartache is not over yet as we have a 18.5 yr old kitty, a 17.5 yr old kitty and a kitty that evidently had been hit (before she came to us) and has hip problems....vet says there is nothing he can do for her. It is so hard when they become older because you know what is ahead.....but providing the best life possible and making them as happy and painfree as you can helps alot. I guess just knowing that they lived a happy and safe life makes it all so worthwhile.
