Yeah, I came from a dyed-in-wool Republican family. My parents have a few positions outside of the party line but I started to drift farther away in high school though I do have to admit that at 18 I was still conservative to vote Republican in my first election (Ronnie Raygun). College broadened my horizons a lot too and over the years I drifted to the left. My parents almost disowned me when I voted for Mondale in 1984 ;)
Welcome, welcome, welcome! there's nothing better than a convert!! Raised by two ultra-conservatives, I know the other side too well. Just jump on it. We have lively discussions that are civil and respectful - as opposed to teams with both Repubs and Liberals - we understand that debate is a GOOD thing! :-) Stephanie

Hi all! First of all, I love SparkPeople all the more now that I know a group like this is on here. Some (political) background: I used to be a conservative (shudder) until I went off to university and took a few politics classes. That, along with the election (the first I could vote in!) sparked my interest and I've been researching and consuming everything political since! I'm just here to expand my mind and my political knowledge a little more :) Lovely to meet you all!
