Welcome Greengirl ... yes, there are liberals in Texas...few and far between ... but I am one of them (even if just here for a few months volunteering to clean up from Hurricane Ike ... even though a VERY RED TEXAN told me "our liberal help wasn't wanted".)

Ignore BFF, she is a on vagina-platform ... hell, if it is a P**SY that she wants in office, she undoubtedly is a Bush lover....

...and she probably goes to the same "church" as Sarah Palin but has not had HER DEMONS CHASED OUT OF HER YET.

I hear you people, I have the same problem living in Texas. Only difference being I'm probably about 7 miles to left of most democrats. If I thought my vote wouldn't be wasted I would vote for the Socialist Party's canidate Brian Moore. Obama's great too, but for the Dems I was hoping for Edwards, he was my homeboy, but we all see how that turned out. Oh well.

Thanks to all of you for your welcomes. I guess it was a little naive of me not to realize that BBF was trying to get everyone riled up. I guess I was just hoping that people like that weren't really out there. You are all right though, she did make me laugh quite a bit trying to compare Clinton to Palin. Not even in the same ballpark. Anyway, thanks again for your welcomes and I look forward to talking with you all on the boards. emoticon

welcome green girl! You need all the help you can get for the state of Texas and I love you for being here and doing what you can. As you can see, we have a very misguided soul in our midst. If she were a true supporter of Hillary, McCain and Palin would horrify her. So she seems to vote for the sex of the candidate only. Which means that McCain does know there are some gullible women out there who will believe that they should vote for them because they have a woman. If BBF were a true Clinton supporter, she would realize that the likelihood of Clinton being involved in McCain's administration is non-existant. The probability of Clinton being involved in Obama's administration is great.

A woman (and a man McCain) who believe in taking choice away from a woman, who believe in the war that Bush-Cheney-Rumsfelt-not to forget Rove got us into with lies they knew were lies, who prefer to continue drilling for oil whereever it is, who don't understand economics (McCain, evidenced by his insistence and sticking with his trickle down theory, although it is what has partially been responsible for the mess our economy is currently in and is absolutely not what will get us out of this mess) or foreign policy (Palin who had to cram for her first interview and who so frighteningly did not know what The Bush Doctrine is. I've taught university and given oral exams for 20 years and I know the eyes of a deer caught in headlights when I see them. She had no clue what Gibson was asking about. Who can afford to have a vice president who needs to cram for an interview and who will not answer questions from the press or an investigation into her policies.)

BBF could never have been for Clinton based on her stance on the issues. BBF is voting for a vagina. BBF loves to post here to irritate us. We usually just ignore her, because of course everyone has the freedom of speech. But her motives in being here are suspect. A liberal she is not. A closet republican and apparently an ultra conservative is what she is. On a team for Proud Blue Liberals. So we let her rant and ignore her.

I'm sorry your welcome got sabotaged by her. We welcome you with open arms and recommend that you laugh at BBF as the rest of us do.
Stephanie

Below is a post from BBFMail. She admits she's not a Democrat. Her pro-Social Security privatization post below pretty much proves she's not liberal. She posts republican talking points about Ted Kennedy. She only seems to post what she thinks might destroy the Democratic party. I suspect she's taking her orders directly from Rush Limbaugh, via radio, not personal connections. If you think I'm taking this too seriously and too personally, maybe I am, but I am very tired of this right wing group of liars trying to insert their BS wherever they can. They won't win.

"I don't think the "right-wing" has anything to do w/what happened to the Democratic party. I think it's more like the ABHC "Anyone But Hillary Clinton" group. I have never been one to believe in the vast right-wing conspiracy theories. Does anyone still? Although I voted Democratic the first time Bill Clinton won the WH, and never voted Democratic again, I might have rejoined the party if Edwards had been the nominee. I didn't think he was the "lesser of two evils", but I suppose he was too left-wing or too liberal for the Democratic party.

I can understand why Hillary supporters are so upset. Seems like the Rules and Bylaws Committee really did a number on her and her supporters.

Welcome Greengirl. Sorry your welcoming has been sabotaged by a very misguided person.

BBFMail,

I have a very hard time believing you were ever a democrat. I've been doing a lot of canvassing, and every single former Hillary supporter I've spoken to is scared to death of Palin. They are insulted by the Republican's assumption that women will vote for anyone in a skirt.

Regardless, there are some very small anti-Obama groups on here. I suggest you go on to those. You are welcome here, but if you actually think you're going to change anyone's mind, you are vastly mistaken. If you do post again, create a new one. How would you like it if you were having a conversation at work and someone barged into your conversation with things that are completely off-topic and inflammatory? That's exactly what you did. It's just plain rude.

If you actually believe you are doing women a service by voting for Palin, I challenge you to give us one example of something she has done to advance women...other than become successful herself.

#1 Yes, there is freedom of speech but more importantly, so we can understand where you really are coming from other than your continued dislike of and snipes on Obama: What part of the GOP ticket is LIBERAL in your eyes? And is this enough for you to change your vote? Just some team inspired (PBLiberal) questions. You certainly have the right to do what you want, but I suggest, if Obama is so reprehensible to you, a non-vote as you have said you mulled over,

#2 I AM a senior and very afraid. But I am afraid of the GOP economic stance. Why are we bailing out the same Wall Street that they are asking us to invest our money in for a "safe" retirement, if privatization is the way it ends up? Because they are greedy $%OxB($ who have no consideration and concern for the average person. I am a State retiree whose pension funds (as are most funds) are firmly wrapped up in Wall Street so it will be a triple whammy for us Seniors. You can't take one line item and say what is happening and what they propose is the way to go. Note: If Wall Street turns around and small investors make their dreamed for "killing," they will get taxed accordingly and be no farther ahead. Only the big guys profit.. That is in the Bush plan and McCain hasn't modified it.

There are dozens of those on McCain & Palin on factcheck. If you were only voting for Hillary because she's a woman, you aren't truly a liberal.

FROM FACTCHECK.ORG:

Scaring Seniors
September 19, 2008
An Obama-Biden ad says McCain supports "cutting benefits in half" for Social Security recipients. False!

Summary
A new Obama ad characterizes the "Bush-McCain privatization plan" as "cutting Social Security Benefits in half." This is a falsehood sure to frighten seniors who rely on their Social Security checks. In truth, McCain does not propose to cut those checks at all.

The ad refers to a Bush proposal from 2005 to hold down the growth of benefits for future retirees. Compared to the buying power of benefits paid to today's retirees, that would not have been a "cut" for anybody. It would have been a "cut" of half only in relation to benefits now promised to retirees who have yet to be born. And for average workers, that "cut" in 2005 was projected by one of Obama's own economic advisers to be 28 percent, not "half."

The ad also says McCain voted "in favor of privatizing Social Security." The term "privatizing" could give the wrong impression. McCain does support creating government-managed accounts that would allow individuals to invest some portion of their Social Security payroll taxes in widely diversified stock or bond funds.

Note: This is a summary only. The full article with analysis, images and citations may be viewed on our Web site:

I was so completely disgusted with the sexist treatment of Hillary and racist lies and smears on both the Clintons, that I was thinking of either sitting this election out, or as a protest, voting for Nader, or just writing in Hillary's name. BUT, after McCain actually selected as his VP running mate, Sarah Palin, I am going to vote GOP for the very first time ever (in 30+ years of voting). I know Hillary asked that we all support Obama, but I look at his associates and his limited experience, and I can't for the life of me understand why the Dems selected him as their candidate. His long-term association with Rezko, Ayes and Rev. "God Damn America" Wright made me have serious doubts about his honesty and judgement. Even before he was selected, poll after poll showed that Hillary Clinton would very likely defeat any GOP candidate, but they chose to ignored her and the polls. A large percentage of the 18 million who supported her (white females over 50!!) were told by Howard Dean and Donna B. that they were not needed. I think they're changing their minds.

HI all! Just wanted to say hi from the not so great state of TX. I've always been really liberal because my parents are really open minded people, but it's become even more evident to me since I moved to TX - one of the most conservative state in the union. Anyway, glad to have found this group and hope to be able to vent to all about my political frustrations. Hopefully they won't last too much longer (Go Obama!)
