Welcome Bruce. Re weight loss - You must use the tracker and start moving. You will find success, just keep plugging away. Re politics. I don't post often but I read the comments and check out the links everyday. I get fired up and motivated when I feel like all is lost. I am involved with Unity and out symbol is a compilation of all the religiuos symbols. "Christians" are a little confused when I profess to be a Christian. I think a true Christian would reflect liberal values. Welcome

WELCOME, WELCOME, to ya, Brucefan. You'll love the team and the posts.

I'll try a private message for a weight loss discussion.

Welcome! I'm so with you on the "real" Christianity. I watched the very old "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" Zefferelli film this weekend and sat there in little tears saying to myself " yeah, yeah, that's Christianity, you bleep bleep conservatives", which I admit, was not very Christian of me...
Seriously, I get some funny looks from my co-workers when I comment on how un-Christlike and morally bankrupt I find a lot of churchgoers these days.

Hi - welcome! We admittedly talk much more politics here than weight loss, but it doesn't mean we can't. I'm glad you found us.

In case you didn't notice, there is also a "I'm for Obama!" team that is also very active. there's even a challenge going on there to lose a pound and a half per week up to the election. You might want to join that. It could be a good way to jump in and start.

We're glad to have you here.

Hi all. This is my first post in months on an SP forum. I am so glad to have found a group of people who all share my two most passionately-held goals for this fall: start losing weight and get Obama elected.

A quick intro: I'm Sue, 44yo, almost 100 pounds overweight(!), grateful for my wonderful DH and three healthy kids. DH is a recovering alcoholic, a great dad, and a too-good cook. I'm a state employee working on environmental programs, a card-carrying tree-hugger, and a grateful member of Al-Anon. I'm a raving Springsteen fan and a Christian Unitarian who is very ready to reclaim Christianity - you know, the "love your enemies" kind - from the right-wing hatemongers.

I love The Daily Show and watch it religiously on DVR; my favorite movie ever is Brokeback Mountain.

I can't seem to control what I eat to save my life - and those words are starting to feel more literal than figurative at this point. I'm way into the red DANGER range on the BMI tables. I am hoping I can meet others here who've struggled with the same problem and found some ways to deal with it, because I'm still looking.

Thanks to all of you for being here with me. Go Dems!
