I'm Diane. I have been following the diet, sort of for some time. Sort of because I find it a lot of work to follow at times and I get descouraged and choose bad things to eat. I'm hoping to get inspired and to be held accountable. I love what jillian teachers and when I follow it properly it works. I am down 6 pounds but since starting a new exercise program I have been playing yo-yo on the scale. I have also been cheating more. Well I am making a new commitment to get back on track and follow the plan. Let's do it together.
Hi I'm Sarah and I'm very excited about MYM. I have not quite finished it but I picked it up in K-mart last week and immediately headed to Wegman's to get Fish Oil Capsules and a multi-vitamin as well as some organic food. I'm not going full blown because 1. I don't know how to cook and 2. I don't know how to get away from plastic since it is in everything. But I am trying and you wouldn't believe how my body is changing. I can feel it and I feel so much better in just a few days on the program. I am also doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred and that and her book will motivate me to lose weight as well as Spark People (of course). If anyone has tips for me please post them on my page. I'd appreciate any tips about this book and how to follow it better. Thanks. That is while I visit this page often to look for tips.

I am 38, mother of three, own and operate a small in home daycare (about 23 kids enrolled), have gone back to college and am getting my Early Childhood Education degree to add a preschool element to my business, have recently purchased and am renovating an additional house to move the daycare/preschool to, and am excited about getting healthy and teaching my kids how to eat healthy! I have lost 50lbs so far and have 150 left to reach my goal weight!

My name is Heather and I'm new to the MYM book. I just read the book and am really excited to start eating better and cutting out so many of the bad toxins and crap that we are used to putting in our bodies. I have hashimoto's disease and have been on synthroid for about 12 years and my metabolism has NEVER been the same since then. Hopefully by starting to eat more organics and less of the processed crap I can get all of my hormones back into some sort of order.
I've put on 10 pounds or so in the last 2 year since having my 2 year old daughter and now that I'm 34 it doesn't seem to want to come off by just exercising and watching my calories. My long term goal is to get back down to 125 but honestly at this point I'm just dying to get back below 150.

Hello everyone. I am 34yoa and I recently listened to Jillian Michaels MYM 3x for emphasis. Well it worked. I am so excited about really getting a grip of my hormones, etc. I have previously lost 30 lbs using Jillians BurnFat, Boost Metabolism Video and 30 Day Shred. Love them both and highly recommend. After an auto accident and new medications I have regained all the weight I lost plus some.

Hi, I'm 32 y/o and live in Los Angeles county in Cali. I'm a full time college student working towards a degree in Animal Health Science.
My highest weight was 326, and I'm currently at 314. My goal is 180.
About a year ago I was working on a group research project at school about fast food. I was researching how different foods, and their components, affect the chemicals in the brain. It led me to read "The End of Overeating" by David Kessler, which really gave me alot of information about the science behind food, and about the food industry and their motivations. From there I read "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan and "Master Your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels.
I feel like I finally "get it". And basically what I've learned is: 1) Eat as few processed foods as possible/eat as many whole foods as possible. and 2) Eat balanced meals, including proteins, carbs, fruits, and veggies.
These two premises are what I use to guide my eating now, and since I've starting doing this (about 3-4 weeks ago) I've lost 12 pounds. I don't count calories because I have a hard time doing that. I try to buy organic when possible to reduce the amount of possible chemicals I ingest.
So far this is working for me.
I'm an 8th grade math teacher in Alabama. I'm married with a 12 yr old ds and 9 yr old dd.
I just read MYM yesterday. I felt it was speaking right to me, as I've been thinking for some time that I have all sorts of hormone levels out of whack.
I am using the offer from the book for a free week on Jillian's site and am playing around with meal plans and things.
I LOVE that Jillian's food plan is simple and straightforward. It looks like something I can really do!
I've gotten my exercise back in a routine over the last few weeks, and now I'm excited to see the progress I'll make after getting my food routine going.

I'm Caren. I thought Jillian was just a trainer who yelled at contestants on Biggest Loser. But I listened to her a little more, and found that she's very knowledgeable about nutrition and emotional eating. I just ordered MYM yesterday. Looking forward to participating with the group.

I am new to this book (haven't started reading it yet) but am excited to see what Jillian has to say about foods/hormones. I have done some of her workouts, and they are amazing! I have heard it is a really intense/extreme book, so I am assuming people pick and choose what is going to work best for them.

Hi Everyone. I have been trying to reach my goal for a long time now, and seem to be stuck. I went through menopause early, so I know my hormones are weirded out. So, I am reading this book and will follow it to be healthy.
I live in the San Francisco Bay area and commute. This morning, I was amazed during my walk from Bus to BART how much smoke and car fumes I smelled. Will be interesting on how to clear the toxins.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the group here, and to Jillian as a health guru! My name is Heather. I'm a writer from upstate New York. I've been working on really changing the way I eat, not only to help me lose weight, but to detox my body from the crap (including "healthy" and "low-fat" crap!) I've been eating for years. This book changed my life, and I'm really trying to implement as much of Jillian's advice as possible on a very limited budget.
So far, I've already kicked soda entirely -- after having at least two or three diet sodas a day for 30 years! I'm down to a tiny cup of coffee in the morning and working my way to switching to organic green tea. Lots of other small changes too, and more to come.
Anyway, nice to find other people who are working this great program that's good for us AND the planet! Anybody else excited for the cookbook?

I'm Kelli and I live in NYC. I bought this book on Friday and completely relate to the struggles Jillian describes! I spent the summer working out a ton and obsessively counting calories and lost only a few pounds. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and started to learn more about hormonal imbalances. I'm really excited to try Jillian's plan.
I cleaned out my kitchen this weekend and went shopping for lots of organic, whole foods. Good luck everyone!
Hi my name is Kathy and I'm from Michigan. I just borrowed the book from the library to read and now that I finished it...I'm going out to buy it!! I love this book. So many things make so much sense now. I'd love to go see and endocrinologist but I'm not sure my insurance will cover it. It doesn't matter though I'm still going to switch to clean living. I'm not rich so this is going to take some time but it's sooooo worth doing!!

Hello, I am Angela from Houston, TX. I found out about this book from my spark buddy and I must say it seems to be the answer to my prayers. I have not been able to start making many of the changes suggested since I'm still reading and I'm out of town. But the mere chance of being able to have a regulated cycle makes me willing to try as many changes as I can put into place.

Hello team I am Melissa and I live in Hayward, WI I am happily married to a wonderful man and have 3 beautiful children! I was always slim until I had children and then I gained and gained and topped it off after a hysterectomy at 220 lbs. I am now done having children (obviously) and ready to take my life back I will no longer be controlled by food! I love Jillian she is a huge inspiration to me and I LOVE her tough approach to fitness. I have and love all of her DVDs and have read all of her books however Master your Metabolism is by far IMO her best book yet!! I Loved this book it was so thorough and honest no sugar coating she tells it as it is. I am about to start the book for the second time but reference it daily. I have made LOTS of changes in my life and the life of my family since reading this book. I always made fun of my friends who ate organic and this and that but now I am that person and very proud of it. My family deserves only the best! So I could go on and on about this but I'll stop here and if you haven't read the book yet pick it up today and I wouldn't suggest getting it from the library cause if you are like me you are going to want it around for a long time!!
Hi, I'm Patt from Minnesota. I can't exercise as much as I would like right now because I have a bad knee, but I can control what I put in my mouth. I used to eat a really healthy diet but strayed over the years. Now I'm really enjoying rediscovering healthy foods and new ways to cook them. I love whole grains, beans, veggies, and fruit. I also love cheese and other things that are much more fattening. I'm trying to strike a balance and have things like cheese as an occasional treat.

My name is Cheri and I am from Cincinnati. I must say that I have started eating organic for over a week and let me tell you that I have notice a complete turnover with my body. Not only have I lost 2 pounds, I can not even express how I feel because it has changed my views on food. I no longer look at food as satifying because so much of it is processed today. How can I view something that is harmful as processed foods as comfort or satifying? It has scared me straight. I am not hungry because my body regulates the natural food. Its like the natural food fills in the blanks and help keep the craving at bay. My baby pouch that I've had for 2 years has shrunk. I am so overwhelmed with the results thus far.

I bought this book a couple of months ago. I think there are many great ideas/tips etc in there. I must admit, however, I'm not sure I can go as completely "clean" as she would like, but I do believe that every little bit helps.

My book arrived on Tuesday...been reading it whenever I have time (routine still must go on), but I LOVE IT!!! I knew SP would have a team available!!! I started with her dvd's last year. I am not a biggest loser fan...don't have a lot of time for tv. But I really enjoy this book so far ~ and I am NOT a reader...

Hi everyone! I have not read this book, but honestly, I am very interested! I am 39 yrs-old and any technique to boost my metabolism is good! So, I'll start investigating to find out the best healthy way to improve my calorie combustion.

I read the entire book yesterday as I was watching biggest loser and eating some of my favorite foods for the last time. It made since to me to start today because today is my 30th birthday. I've not gone into 30 as gracefully as I may have wanted, but I'm hoping my 30th year will be more enjoyable and rewarding than all of my previous years. I live in Phoenix and I'm an education student with 10 classes remaining to complete my education degree. I have a beautiful daughter and a strong and supportive husband that need me to have a long and healthy life.

hi everyone, im new to sparkpeople :) im about to turn 30 and i need some motivation losing weigh and find myself again. ive been struggling with serve depression and ate my way back to 255lbs :( i have never been thin but 215 was a lot easier to cope with than what im at now. i love jillian & the biggest loser, so im hoping this is the place for me. i dont buy the "you can do it at home" so im hoping to be proven wrong. how does sparkpeople work? im starting 30 day shred tomorrow!

My name is Deb, I am an empty nester for the most part with 2 girls in college, 1 married daughter. Hubs works from home, we have 1 cat and 1 dog who are our spoiled pampered babies.
I am going on 6 year breast cancer survivor, T2 diabetic and just learned I am hypothyroid. I have regained all the weight I had lost this past year. Finding the cause I am hopeful that continuing to eat Healthy and Naturally as possible the pounds will melt off again.
I love eating healthy and the way it makes me Feel. I have read JM book but it deserves a closer read especially now that I am feeling better. I work out at Curves 3x per week and the only time I stopped going was these past 6 months when I was feeling the utmost worst.
SO I am back at the begining of my journey. I know how to eat well and exercise to make it work. I am concerned about these additional road blocks.

My name is Tannis and I live in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia with my husband. We share our home with our 2 cats Sculli and Little Dude. I have 2 grown sons and just recently a new daughter-in-law.
Just like many of you, I am in the process of re-reading the book so that I have not missed anything... I am excited to get things rolling and if anyone has any suggestions to add to the group, please let me know.
One of the reasons why I bought the book is because I like Jillian's aproach. She is a shoot from the hips kinda gal...just like me. She does not sugar coat anything and I think that is what some people need. Me included!!
It is great to be here and I hope that everyone still wants to "Master your Metabolism"
