Losing weight, eating right and a bit of exercise will do you good. I used to have HBP. My numbers read like 220/124 and after losing 60lbs and implementing a healthy and active lifestyle I am bringing in numbers like 117/78 which is normal. I went from 5-6 pills a day down to one minor water pill. I still suffer from water retention plus my pressure will rise high if I don't take the water pill which sucks, but I am happy to not have the other HBP symptoms and I had them all. You have come to the right place. It's time to get that pressure and cholesterol down. emoticon

Here are some great books on lowering your cholesterol, getting rid of diabetes and losing weight, ect. These are vegetarian diets (I'm vegetarian so I find this easy to follow) but alot of people are lowering there cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes and alot of other things just by not eating animal products and eating more fruits and veggies. You can check them out from the library.

There are other books but these are my favorites. Hope this helps(even if you you don't go vegetarian the books still are great)

Hi. I am 59yrs, overweight but trying to eat healthier and be more active. I have been finding it a bit difficult to do it alone, and find it is not easy. With High blood pressure and High Cholesterol being monitored by drugs, I thought it was about time I took control. My daughter is getting married in March 2012, so that is my goal date for myself. I need all the help I can get, and someone to laugh with who is going through a similar scenario in life.
