I agree you can definitely change your taste buds. In fact, I think you will find that the junk food is what actually tastes horrible after you start eating clean. You can start to taste the artificialness and the chemicals and for me that is a huge turn off. I was amazed that once I started eating clean I stopped craving sweets. I had no idea that was a "side effect" of eating clean. It was such a freeing feeling! Go slow and ask questions if you need any help.

You can definitely change your taste buds. I used to drink coffee - light with 2 sugars. I gradually decreased the amount of sugar, going to 1 1/2 tsp, then 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp, then eventually none at all. I also decreased the amount of creamer the same way. I also replaced soda with plain water. Now I can't stand the taste of any sweetened drink - not Crystal Light, Diet Snapple, any of them.

I only use a little lemon juice or lime juice occasionally in water.

Welcome! Yes I do think you taste for food/food preferences can be changed. For example, I absolutely LOVE plain greek yogurt now, but I use to not be able to eat plain yogurt of any kind. I started by eating the fruit flavored, of course. Then I started getting the plain and adding my own fruit/sweeteners. Then I noticed that just the fruit was enough with the yogurt and I didn't need the added sweetener. Then once I change brands because I couldn't find the one I normally buy and found that I could eat it, and enjoy it without fruit. From then on I started eating several different brands of plain low fat greek yogurt. Now the regular fruit flavored yogurts are too sweet for me.

HI! Welcome!
I do feel that you can train your taste buds. I have never been a picky eater though. Everyone says that people that eat healthy are "picky eaters" but I really think it's the other way around. I think people that only like junk food, fast food, and processed junk are the ones that are "picky" and not willing to try new things.
When you eat clean, these things start to taste "yucky" not to mention the difference in your overall health.

I am a 39 year old SAHM and I really need to change my eating habits and I want to have more energy and of course lose weight. I have researched "eating clean" and I like the results some people say that they have experienced!! I am very excited about doing this and seeing and feeling the change! I want to know is it possible to train my tastebuds? I feel like the taste of some healthy foods are yuck, and I know it is due to the fact that I have ate so much junk for so long. Thank you in advance!!
