There's lots to be learned here on this team. Click on some threads and have a look at what we've been talking about. Type 2 diabetes is really a no-brainer and you got it right as to how you got to where you are. The "no-brainer" part is that you can lick that disease very quickly by changing your diet. Duh! Right? Stick around here and you will meet people just like you who have decided to take control of their health in a natural way. It isn't easy changing old habits but the more you learn about nutrition and how your body really processes foods (and tries-bless its heart-to process the junk that is put in it), the more natural it will feel to make the changes. Knowledge is power for sure.
You have already taken a very brave and wise step by even thinking about your diet being the culprit. It is! We wouldn't put water in our car's gas tank even though it's so easily available and cheap, would we. Of course not. Not even a DROP!! But we put things into our bodies that gradually damage every organ, every cell and eventually we get very sick.
Glad you came. Best of everything to you! And everyone is a bit overwhelmed by SparkPeople at first. Don't try to take it all in at once. Ask questions right here if you need navigation help or use the help feature at the top of every page. Whatever you do, don't quit. -annie

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul
God has blessed me with a wonderful family. I have survived two cancers in my life. I can't believe I have allowed myself to abuse my body by eating all the wrong things and eating obsessively. I have yo-yo dieted for years. I lose 5 and gain 10. In my heart I feel young but my body is starting to feel old! My cholesterol is high and today I was tol I am pre-diabetic. I know lots of great things that 'work' toward losing weight. I need daily accountability to make some real changes in my life style and stick with them! HELP. I also need help navigating this program. Right now it looks a little overwhelming. Thank you in advance !
