woohoo!! went to the park and walked ten minutes, rested ten minutes, and then walked for ten minutes back to the car.....it's a start but I can tell you my legs are give out and I was exhausted by the time I got back to the car... and my knees were really hurting....but I feel goood!! emoticon

yeah, they have. I actually didn't realize that I could march in place, sitting down in the chair till they talked about it. I am working on getting more steps but today so far I have 1100 and I am hoping that hubby is going to go to the park, so we can walk, me with my walker but I know that I won't be able to go far but at least I will be outside and I can do as much as I can.

Start out with short distances, but do try walking outside with your walker AND your husband. I started out walking in my neighborhood that way - adding the distance to another mailbox every few days. I wasn't using a walker, but I was using a cane. You might also want to check out the Chair Exercise team.

I just turned 66 and decided it was time for a change. Well, actually, the heart doctor decided for me. I have swelling in my legs and feet and he thought...well, I thought as well, that I had congestive heart failure and he told me that I had to lose weight or I would die. Well, that got my attention right quick. Needless to say, I went to a dietitian who put me on a 1500 calorie diet and I have lost around 26 lbs so far, but I had gotten to a plateau and since I don't go back to see the dietitian till August decided that I needed more motivation and inspiration. I am motivated, to be sure, but it is difficult for me to do much exercise other than armchair exercise, which I have been doing, since I use a walker to walk. But my husband is recovering from having two stents replaced and they told him to walk so I am thinking of getting out there with my walker and seeing how far I can go....probably not far, but that would get me outdoors as well as giving him incentive to walk as well.
