emoticon for the warm welcome. I live in England and the weather here is rain...ALL the time lol. I was born in Maryland, raised in Colorado and have been here for the past 17yrs with no intention of going back. You can take me out of the States but you cannot take the States out of me! I will try hard to post as much as I can and maybe suggest some ways I use to de-stress myself.

emoticon Lisa! as i said below, this team need some new Spark and some new faces. You can post whenever you feel the need to so so.
I don't know where you live but where I am winter has been long and frigid plus snow since November with lots of stress. We can't walk outside yet but i keep the back patio clear and I walk there while my dog runs. Then have to exercise inside. I do hope spring does plan to come.

Hi everyone,

I just joined the team this week. I want to be healthier and manage my stress better. Right now, I've been injury free for almost 6 months and am super excited about that. I've had ankle and shoulder injuries in the past and still can't do high impact exercises consistently. I'd like to learn to be more positive and be happier at work. Hi all,
I just discovered this group and joined because I don't handle stress well, and there's a lot in my life: single mom caring for special needs teenager and handicapped mother, bitter child custody dispute over special needs son, lost job, lost home - all within the past year.

AND, lost weight! Thank God for SparkPeople. emoticon

Hi I am a returning member. I know that in my case my health suffered because of emotional eating. I deal with the stress of caring for my son whom is special needs. Now before someone get things twisted I love him with all my heart. I am married with 2 other kids in college. I am a SAHM been that way for years by choice. I have loved seeing my kids grow up. Now it is time to concentrate on me and my well being in all areas of my life.

Hey everyone. I'm 26 and had to take 3months off work due to stress and anxiety. i've always had something to stress over, schoolwork when i was younger, my degree, moving flats every year for 6 years, getting anywhere i was staying tidy, planning my wedding last year. i don't know what triggered it off as i wasn't actually under any stress when the first full blown panic attack hit, the stress and anxiety had been building, again no idea why. no new job or change of living arrangements for well over a year. i'm going through CBT at the minute and have also done the standard. hope to see you all around

Hello. Wow, job stress is the worst. Why such a long day? Is that the kind of hours you signed up for? I think you might not get away from the job enough for fun or relaxation. Are you getting enough exercise? It does help get the stress out of my body which helps a lot! And be sure to take enough breaks in the day. Yours is a long day for sure. Hang in there, you're going to make it :-)

Hi, I'm Fran, I'm 29 and I'm very stressed out. About 6 months ago I started a new job, moved to another city and most of the time I feel my job is too difficult and demanding for me (sometimes it gets way over 12hrs/day and my boss is always asking for me to do more tasks, faster, better etc etc), but I like it very much and I'm forcing myself to adjust to the new routing it brought me, so I'm always on the high end with stress' levels. Please help me out!

Hello everyone, I am Karla and I have been under extreme stress even before I was born (it's a pretty horrific story actually) but I didn't really realize it. I guess because it was "normal" for me. I had so many issues that affected my health but never put it all together with stress and how it could affect my body. I thought stress was an all in your mind kind of thing. And that is what my DH still thinks, so even doing something good for myself in getting healthy is a battle sometimes. My severe symptoms came to light when I started into peri-menopause and when the things my doc suggested made me feel worse I turned to the internet to figure it out for myself. I've found out that my adrenals were over-fatigued and have been undergoing a treatment protocol for almost 2 months now. I am feeling much better, and with it lost the 7 pounds I've been trying to lose for over 10 years. Some things are better, but some things are not so I still have work to do. I'm here because I need a support team. And who better than those who are working on stress issues too. I'm hoping to learn from you guys, and maybe I'll have a few ideas to share with you also : - ) I'm sure if I don't get this figured out I'm going to really fall apart. And how can I let that happen? I'm the only me I've got LoL.

Hi I ran across this team and I am here. I deal with the stresses of having a special needs sweet heart. It is very challenging and on going. I am a married SAHM with 3 kids. Two of which are not special needs but teenagers that is enough. emoticon . When I am stressed I eat and I believe my health has suffered because of it. This is also the second stress refief team I have joined. I need to get stress under control before it controls me into more problems. I probably will be a booklet and paper this weekend. This seems like something that will help me along the way.

Hi, I'm Debbie. I just joined Spark over the weekend and have been trying to digest all of the stuff to do here! It's amazing!
I have been dealing with stress related anxiety attacks for about 2 years now. I'm tired so much of the time now, because I'm on Xanax and Lexapro for anxiety. When I have a stress attack, it mimics a heart attack. I've been admitted to the hospital 3 times in the last 2 years for it.
I want to learn how to deal with my stressful life myself. I don't want to be tired and listless all the time just because it takes the chest pains away.
I'm looking forward to being in this group. :-)

Hiya everyone!

I'm Nicola and I'm from England.

I have BiPolar disorder, so stress is a big issue for me.
I'm also severely disabled and in constant crippling pain (currently on a new med patch that seems to be helping, so hopefully we can get the dosage right soon!!) which adds to stress and lowers my resistance to the BP.

I'm really hoping to control my mental health much more, along with making myself far healthier with losing weight as well.

Hello to all,
A year ago I reached a level of stress that gave me anxiety attacks...went to a counselour and talke for about 6 months and it really helped. My stress and anxiety comes form Losing my best friend to cancer in august 2008. I am a single mother so I never felt that any time was a good time to griev, so i ignored it.
Now I am feeling and seeing my symptoms again...low level of self esteem, mood swings, no-needed fighting with my daughter, shutting her out along with other people in my life.

I am hoping to get tips and advice as well as be able to give the same on this Team.

My name is Jenny and I'm 24 years old & live in Maine. I work fulltime as an office manager, go to school fulltime through FHSU's online Business program (will graduate this December, yessss!), and I'm also a Cookie Lee Jewelry consultant and Mark Representative (makeup).

I also suffer from social anxiety which I'm really trying to work through. It's been an issue for about 5 years now and greatly affects my life. So I think this group will help me a lot! Just popping in to say hello. I would like to join a positive, proactive team to help alleviate stress. I have belonged to this group on a past life on Spark. But, I have had recent relationship stress and financial stress. I am now having difficulty sleeping. I want to gain some consistency in my life again. My emotional life has been out of whack since my significant other decided to change our relationship in a manner that was unacceptable to me. It has affected my eating and sleep habits and created inner drama that I find I would rather not experience. So, trying to move on and take care of myself. Thinking that doing something right for myself would be helping myself put the pieces back together with a little help. Thanks.

Thank you Paula. It is wonderful to be back. I have missed you all so much. I thought of you often each day, wondering how you all were doing and what was going on.
I'm mostly unpacked. What I need to do is put out what Victorian ornaments I want and other dainties, and then over time buy storage for under the bed and put things out of site. I've done well as I've only 3 bins I need to get for under my bed. The rest is just organizing and purging as I come across something. It is wonderful to be able to come online and be with positive friends again!! Thank you again Paula!!!!!

Hi. I've been participating in sparks since mid April, but I only just found out about this team--and good timing, since one of my still being formed New Years resolutions (they are a work in progress, hee) is to get a better handle on stress.

Stress has been a major factor in my life for far too long. I'm a graduate student, hopefully in the final stages of finishing up a doctorate (talk about stressful, ha!) trying to balance my own interests against the demands of family--I don't have kids yet, and that helps, but both my husband and I are part of very tight knit extended families. Which are great in the sense of having fountains of support when you need it, but also demand a lot of time and energy in return. Throw in some family members fighting cancer (3 now in remission, thankfully, one with a good prognosis, and one still up in the air), most of my friends being long distance, moving this summer at the same time I swear half of my social circle also moved (yeah, that was fun), and major and sometimes catastrophic life changes for some of my closest friends and the last few years have been crazy with stress and change. And somewhere in all this mess of things I'm juggling, I've lost most of my "me" time.

I'm really, really hoping that things won't be so stressful in 2010. I'm working out regularly, getting enough sleep (usually) and trying to eat regularly and better foods, but something still has to give and I don't want that something to be me.

So anyway, hi! I haven't had a chance yet to explore the team much, but I am hopeful that this team will be a good fit for me.

I'm so glad you are all here. Please take time to look around and see the resources that have already been posted. I have to take a day and see what I've posted and make note of it and keep track. Then I can add new as time goes on. And I have LOTS of things to give to you but I do not want to overwhelm any of you or myself.
Especially look at the WRAP section. I know I've not posted anything new there in a while, but I want the new member to have some time to get caught up.
Look at the 5 day stress course etc. And copy/paste them into a document and save them for future reference. That's what I do. I have them printed and in a document on the computer for future reference.

Hi,

I'm looking forward to learning some new ways to reduce my stress and finding some support to be more consistent in practicing the methods that I already know work--like getting enough sleep and exercising. I've been better about exercising since joining Sparkpeople last month and it's really made a difference. Now if I can just do something about getting myself to bed on time....

I use most of my energy worrying about things that I can't control, or things that I can control in the distant future, or things that never come to pass. I'm glad to have found this group. I am a working mom of 4 boys and being stressed seems to be the normal way of life for me. I have tried several different ways to slow things down and inevitably I end up right back where I started. I am looking forward to meeting you all and sharing some ideas to help each other.

I am back on the team after restructuring my Spark People goals. I actually ended my program and Spark Page and Account and gave serious thought to what I want out of Spark People. I rethought what I want out of my groups. I really wanted to stay on this group but I wasn't entirely sure, but this group has helped me so much. So, here I am. I am glad to be here again. And glad to participate as much as possible. I do have a problem with being on the computer too much with the different things I do. I want to spend some quality time off the computer as well. Hi Cheryl! Welcome to the team. And yes, stress in our lives is inevitable. Just like the air we breathe is a constant, so stress will be a constant in our lives. That's why it is so important to make use of our time wisely, prioritize and always remember to MAKE time for some SELF/ME time in the day to come back down to the ground.
I'm sure if you look through the Forums you will find plenty of already listed helpful resources. I do add lessons from time to time, but I don't want to add stress so I'm stretching out adding lessons a little longer due to upcoming holidays.

Hi Tricia! Glad to have you with us. I think we all let stress get to us and control us. This team is to teach us to take control of our lives and our emotions back. I hope you look through the various forums and copy and paste some of the lessons already done. They can be started any time. And if you have any questions, I am here to answer them...unless there is a thunderstorm :) Good to have you here. I hope you work at taking control of your emotions and stress. The more you put into your work/team, the more you will get out of it :)

Hi everyone! My name is Tricia and I have always let stress overwhelm me. Right now, it's higher than it's been in years. I am a tax accountant and my firm has been extra busy this year so I have already been working overtime for about a month and it's just going to get worse until the October 15th deadline. Plus I have a 30 minute drive just to get to work so that eats into any time I would have to get things done. My apartment has been a disaster lately and I am getting married in May 2010 so I have tons of planning to do! Plus, my weight is at the highest point it's been since high school so that is really getting to me. I'm glad I found this team and that I'm back being active on Spark.

Hi I ran across this team and thought it was for me. I am along standing member here. I have 3 kids two teenagers one of which is about to graduate this up coming year. I have a special needs little boy. So I am stressed lot of the time. He gets hep but the stressors are still there. I am married (20 years almost) and I have a few health challenges. I depend on my faith to get me threw this. I can not change what happens in life but I can change how I react to it. Hi all. emoticon

Hi ladies,I am Arlene and I am from Wisconsin. I have been married for 36 yrs come August 26th. Have 2 wonderful adult children that I am so proud of! We have 6 awesome grandchildren(which I may add I call them grandmunchkins!). And this year has not been the best for us what with a few family members having troubles and some getting certain diseases. This is the first I have time I have made chat contact with this team. I have been following areas here you may have noticed the last few weeks. i'm kinda shy when it comes to jumping right in and saying anything about me.

I am Jann. I recently wrote a blog on decluttering my spark life and unjoined a couple teams. Apparently I am an addict and thrive on stress because I replaced them with 3 other teams..

This was one of them. My personal life has been very stressful and then work this month is even more so. Joined to see what good ideas you all have come up with!

Hello Everyone, I am a stress-oholic. I seem to worry over everything. I wonder if maybe I am pre- menopausal and maybe that's why I am always so stressed. Could it be all hormonal? Well regardless of where it comes from its here and the way I cope tends to be to eat everything in sight. This is not working well with my diet!!!!!! I'm so tired of feeling tense and full of worry. I'm ready for a change.......
