Hi, I'm not supposed to be stressed. I'm 65, retired and should be relaxing but I do get wound up pretty easily these days and I know that's not good for my blood pressure. I'm quite new to SP and doing the 21day challenge. Today I have to join a new team and introduce myself. Looking forward to seeing if it is possible to change at my age.

New to this team, and excited to see that I'm not the only one who's really interested in stress. I've managed to become a chilled-out person in the last couple of years, but I'm always interested in new stress management tips and techniques. Also interested if anyone is using stress trackers! emoticon for the warm welcome. I live in England and the weather here is rain...ALL the time lol. I was born in Maryland, raised in Colorado and have been here for the past 17yrs with no intention of going back. You can take me out of the States but you cannot take the States out of me! I will try hard to post as much as I can and maybe suggest some ways I use to de-stress myself.

emoticon Lisa! as i said below, this team need some new Spark and some new faces. You can post whenever you feel the need to so so.
I don't know where you live but where I am winter has been long and frigid plus snow since November with lots of stress. We can't walk outside yet but i keep the back patio clear and I walk there while my dog runs. Then have to exercise inside. I do hope spring does plan to come.

Hi everyone,

I just joined the team this week. I want to be healthier and manage my stress better. Right now, I've been injury free for almost 6 months and am super excited about that. I've had ankle and shoulder injuries in the past and still can't do high impact exercises consistently. I'd like to learn to be more positive and be happier at work. I just discovered this group and joined because I don't handle stress well, and there's a lot in my life: single mom caring for special needs teenager and handicapped mother, bitter child custody dispute over special needs son, lost job, lost home - all within the past year.

AND, lost weight! Thank God for SparkPeople. emoticon

Hi I am a returning member. I know that in my case my health suffered because of emotional eating. I deal with the stress of caring for my son whom is special needs. Now before someone get things twisted I love him with all my heart. I am married with 2 other kids in college. I am a SAHM been that way for years by choice. I have loved seeing my kids grow up. Hey everyone. I'm 26 and had to take 3months off work due to stress and anxiety. i've always had something to stress over, schoolwork when i was younger, my degree, moving flats every year for 6 years, getting anywhere i was staying tidy, planning my wedding last year. i don't know what triggered it off as i wasn't actually under any stress when the first full blown panic attack hit, the stress and anxiety had been building, again no idea why. no new job or change of living arrangements for well over a year. i'm going through CBT at the minute and have also done the standard. hope to see you all around

Hello. Wow, job stress is the worst. Why such a long day? Is that the kind of hours you signed up for? I think you might not get away from the job enough for fun or relaxation. Are you getting enough exercise? It does help get the stress out of my body which helps a lot! And be sure to take enough breaks in the day. Yours is a long day for sure. Hang in there, you're going to make it :-)

Hi, I'm Fran, I'm 29 and I'm very stressed out. About 6 months ago I started a new job, moved to another city and most of the time I feel my job is too difficult and demanding for me (sometimes it gets way over 12hrs/day and my boss is always asking for me to do more tasks, faster, better etc etc), but I like it very much and I'm forcing myself to adjust to the new routing it brought me, so I'm always on the high end with stress' levels. Please help me out!

Hello everyone, I am Karla and I have been under extreme stress even before I was born (it's a pretty horrific story actually) but I didn't really realize it. I guess because it was "normal" for me. I had so many issues that affected my health but never put it all together with stress and how it could affect my body. I thought stress was an all in your mind kind of thing. And that is what my DH still thinks, so even doing something good for myself in getting healthy is a battle sometimes. My severe symptoms came to light when I started into peri-menopause and when the things my doc suggested made me feel worse I turned to the internet to figure it out for myself. I've found out that my adrenals were over-fatigued and have been undergoing a treatment protocol for almost 2 months now. I am feeling much better, and with it lost the 7 pounds I've been trying to lose for over 10 years. Some things are better, but some things are not so I still have work to do. I'm here because I need a support team. And who better than those who are working on stress issues too. I'm hoping to learn from you guys, and maybe I'll have a few ideas to share with you also : - ) I'm sure if I don't get this figured out I'm going to really fall apart. And how can I let that happen? I'm the only me I've got LoL.

Hi I ran across this team and I am here. I deal with the stresses of having a special needs sweet heart. It is very challenging and on going. I am a married SAHM with 3 kids. Two of which are not special needs but teenagers that is enough. emoticon . When I am stressed I eat and I believe my health has suffered because of it. This is also the second stress refief team I have joined. I need to get stress under control before it controls me into more problems. I probably will be a booklet and paper this weekend. This seems like something that will help me along the way.

Hi, I'm Debbie. I just joined Spark over the weekend and have been trying to digest all of the stuff to do here! It's amazing!
I have been dealing with stress related anxiety attacks for about 2 years now. I'm tired so much of the time now, because I'm on Xanax and Lexapro for anxiety. When I have a stress attack, it mimics a heart attack. I've been admitted to the hospital 3 times in the last 2 years for it.
I want to learn how to deal with my stressful life myself. I don't want to be tired and listless all the time just because it takes the chest pains away.
I'm looking forward to being in this group. :-)

Hiya everyone!

I'm Nicola and I'm from England.

I have BiPolar disorder, so stress is a big issue for me.
I'm also severely disabled and in constant crippling pain (currently on a new med patch that seems to be helping, so hopefully we can get the dosage right soon!!) which adds to stress and lowers my resistance to the BP.

I'm really hoping to control my mental health much more, along with making myself far healthier with losing weight as well.

Hello to all,
A year ago I reached a level of stress that gave me anxiety attacks...went to a counselour and talke for about 6 months and it really helped. My stress and anxiety comes form Losing my best friend to cancer in august 2008. I am a single mother so I never felt that any time was a good time to griev, so i ignored it.
Now I am feeling and seeing my symptoms again...low level of self esteem, mood swings, no-needed fighting with my daughter, shutting her out along with other people in my life.

I am hoping to get tips and advice as well as be able to give the same on this Team.

WELCOME TO ALLLLLL NEW MEMBERS!!!!!! I do apologize for my long absence, but if you go and read my latest blog, you will find out why. However, that is now a thing of the past...other than the cold, but I will be here everyday. It is a commitment I made to myself for myself. :)

My name is Jenny and I'm 24 years old & live in Maine. I work fulltime as an office manager, go to school fulltime through FHSU's online Business program (will graduate this December, yessss!), and I'm also a Cookie Lee Jewelry consultant and Mark Representative (makeup).

I also suffer from social anxiety which I'm really trying to work through. It's been an issue for about 5 years now and greatly affects my life. So I think this group will help me a lot! I just signed up for spark people in November and have lost about 15 pounds, I love this site and can't believe it's FREE!

Just popping in to say hello. I would like to join a positive, proactive team to help alleviate stress. I have belonged to this group on a past life on Spark. But, I have had recent relationship stress and financial stress. I am now having difficulty sleeping. I want to gain some consistency in my life again. My emotional life has been out of whack since my significant other decided to change our relationship in a manner that was unacceptable to me. It has affected my eating and sleep habits and created inner drama that I find I would rather not experience. So, trying to move on and take care of myself. Thinking that doing something right for myself would be helping myself put the pieces back together with a little help. Thanks.

Thank you Paula. It is wonderful to be back. I have missed you all so much. I thought of you often each day, wondering how you all were doing and what was going on.
I'm mostly unpacked. What I need to do is put out what Victorian ornaments I want and other dainties, and then over time buy storage for under the bed and put things out of site. I've done well as I've only 3 bins I need to get for under my bed. The rest is just organizing and purging as I come across something. It is wonderful to be able to come online and be with positive friends again!! Thank you again Paula!!!!!
