I'm brand new to Spark People, but not to weight loss. I first battled the bulge starting around 2001 - I had gained quite a bit of weight while I was a student in post-secondary institutions. It took me about a year to go from about 197 pounds down to 134, but I was able to maintain this loss, at least until I became pregnant with my first child who was born in December 2006.
Now I'm a Mom of 2 beautiful children, one girl and one boy, who is not only struggling with weight issues, but also anxiety and depression. My anxiety is being controlled now with medication. I will also be starting with a therapist; it's going to be a long healing process and, unfortunately, I don't have a lot of support around me, save for my husband. He is wonderful, but I know that being my spouse can be hard at times.
Right now, I'm a stay-at-home Mom who works part-time from home as a marketing manager for a small company. I know my part time job is a great gig since I get to be with my kids everyday to watch them grown and to help them learn, but staying home everyday can also be difficult at times. That said, I wouldn't change this part of my life for the world.
I'm committing myself to losing the weight I've gained over the past few years, since becoming a Mom. Some of it is still "baby weight" but a lot of it is due to poor lifestyle habits that result from and contribute to stress, anxiety and depression. I've lost the weight before. I want to do it again. This time, though, I have an entirely different life where I am no longer the sole focus of my days.
