Sometimes healthy food is more expensive, (especially if there is free junk food around!) but I try to remember that those delicious looking brownines are not really good for me, and I don't need them. I need healthy food.
One thing that helps is learning that we don't need as much meat as I thought. Meat is definitely one of the more expensive items on the grocery lists, so if I buy less meat and more veggies, I save money.
First let me say - Welcome!! I eat a lot of chicken (I buy it in bulk when it's on sale and freeze it), canned tuna, fruits/veggies, and spinach salad. It is more expensive to eat healthier, but I think of the benefits we receive from it. Just think how expensive it is to be treated at the doctor's office for problems caused from obesity. I cooked in batches and freeze it, it's easier than buying frozen meals and better for you. I also buy a lot of sweet potatoes, they usually run @ .99 a lb. - but they cook fast in the microwave & a sprinkle of cinnamon/brown sugar its like a sweet treat & so good for you!! Good luck to you.
