SP believes in everything in moderation. It does work.
However, depending on how addicted you are, you might want to kick cakes and ice cream to the curb for a couple of months. I have done that, and I found it very helpful.
Or keep them for an occasional treat, and find other sweets for most of the time - things like pineapple, bananas, and other fruits.
