first welcome to the team you have come to the right placve here.first things you can do is cut back on drink cost by sticking to water if you donīt like the taste there are ways to pep it up.packing your own lunch instead of buying takeout is cheaper and healthier and you have more control over what you are eating,it does take a little time planning preparing etc but you will find it worth it in the end.if you give out money on books ,magazines papaers etc you can cut down on them by facilitating a libuary weather at school,colledge university or a state libuary.same with if you are a member of a gym.though exercise is good and a must there are other ways to exercise that doesnīt cost anything.same with a car.either bike ,public transport or carpool will save on road tax insurance and petrol.walking is also a good form of getting from a-b-if you have a freezer bulk cooking saves time and money and you always have something in that you can just warm up on days when time is short.left overs can also be used with a little bit of imagination into lovely meals or snacks look at some of the old threads here for ideas.sales and coupons are also good to keep an eye out for and i believe their are some good coupon sites around.also buying fruit and vegs in season is cheaper.socialising with friends who says it has to be with a meal out in a resturant .have a games night or movie night in at someones house,go for walks or hikes with a picnic just as fun more healthy and alot cheaper.or go for a bike ride.here are just a few things that might help.any questions or problems just ask on a thread and i am sure one or the other of us can help.good luck and remember where there is a will there is a way and you can do this it is possible. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello!!

I have been a part of SP for a while, just getting back on the horse and I recently decided that my money is getting out of control!! I just took advantage to the Spark Budget thing and I am appalled. I make so little and spend so much. I just graduated with my BA in music education and my masters will be finished by Christmas.

I have about $40,000 in loans that I'm not happy about, $800 on my credit card, and I make little money as a waitress. I just entered in all my info into the budget site.. and didn't include groceries, going out, or anything else besides what I make, rent and utilities and I am already at NEGATIVE $30. (I underestimated what I make to be safe.. but still!!)

-This shows me that I'm putting too much on my credit card. That is now off-limits.
-Also, I am going to start to keep a little list in my wallet on what I spend and on what. I GUARANTEE that I am spending about $10 a day on drinks and probably $15 on food (that is unhealthy). If I can cut that back, that will help a ton.

I've checked out all the links in the discussion boards and I can't wait to get going on it.....but I have two 50+ page research papers due over the next week and a half and I can't even spare the time to be on SP. When summer is here....*sigh* I will get my life in check.

Thanks for listening! I realize I just sort of blabbed on and on... I guess I needed it.
