Using LESS meat - of any kind - in a recipe helps too. You know, cut it up smaller (so it's still in every bite), but add more veggies or barley or whatever (depending on recipe). This is also cheaper! It really works. My DH doesn't seem to notice if I use less, just if it's MISSING (darn carnivore!).
Wow! That is dedication to get up at 4 am!
Fish is a good alternative to chicken, providing you like fish. Some other good choices: Beans, eggs, seafood, and even beef and pork.

Relate - well, duh! lol!
There are a couple of different cookbooks on sneaking in the good stuff to your kids - one is literally The Sneaky Chef, and I own that one. It's pretty good, and you'd be surprised to see what you can add in to some stuff. There's another by the same author for sneaking good foods into your HUSBANDS foods, too, although I haven't looked at that one.
Good luck with the 4 am thing. Because I don't believe in a 4 am is probably why I'm not exercising as much as I should....
Well I have bene trying to lose weight for a while and find it difficult . Seems now that I turned 40 it is going to be a bit different. My overall goal is to eat better foods for my family and myself. Watch what I am eating and spending on food. My husband and I have started a fitness program together so we are up every mornign at 4:00am to do this..it is good, look forward to seeing what you all are doing to stay on top of fitness and nutrition. Would also like some new recipe ideas as we are getting bored with chicken breasts..anyone relate?
