Hi Toya! Glad you have chosen to join us on this jourrney to a healthier lifestyle. Your goal of losing 100 pounds in the next year is imminently doable. Using the Spark People program (notice I don't call it a diet) generally produces 1-2 pounds of weight loss per week. With that in mind, losing the pounds you want over 52 weeks is definitely within your reach.
The object is to start slow, track your foods, drink 8 cups of water per day, and exercise. Exercise can start at 10 min per day and then you will find it adding up as you go forward. Set you goals in small increments and then give yourself a non-food reward for achcieving that goal. Me, my next reward for 25 pounds gone will be a massage. At 5 pounds I am getting new music for my MP3. Sometimes I take the time to pamper me in a warm tub of scented soap with soft music and candles. What is unimportant; the thing is to reward yourself for a job well done!
I suggest you use the Nutrition Tracker to identify where your calories are coming from. It has recommended ranges of calories and other nutrients to support your program. Weigh and measure the foods you eat. Many of us suffer from Portion Distortion and that doesn't result in weight loss.
As you progress in reaching your goals remember the long term goal you have set. You CAN do it! Visit here again soon and post often to get the most from the team. We are a caring and compassionate group which consistently provides support and encouragement. I look forward to seeing you on the threads.
