Hey all, I'm Megan. I'm looking into chair exercises cause of bad legs. And I am excited to find a group for it! It is super difficult for me to stay motivated to exercise cause it plain old just hurts. But I did my first chair workout today and it went great! Can't wait to see different possibilities and others successes.

New to this team. I have bilateral knee replacements plus hip and back issues which prevent me from walking and/or doing many other exercises. I do water aerobics but need something to do on the other days. Thanks for this team.

well physical therapy came and they helped stretch my stump and other leg. After they left I put on some groovy dance music and grabbed my 4 lbs dumbbells and when the music started I totally forgot about having no use of my one leg and I just incorporated technical exercises with a few freestyle moves.I worked up a good sweat and then looked at the clock and 40 mins had passed. Just one step in front of the other. I will lose the weight and I will walk again!

Hey cool cats, My name is siouxsan( susan). Third day on this site and I love it!. I have to do chair exercises due to being a incomplete paraplegic and I also just lost my right leg above the knee. The left leg is still pretty mangled. However before all of this I was a bodybuilder and very healthy. I am looking forward to sharing some of my trainers workout tips if they might help others.

Hello! I'm 28 years old and I've suffered a knee injury while running a few months back; the doctor said it is a super common injury for runners, young people and women, so here I am. I'm doing physical therapy to get it back into shape with squats, lunges, and balance exercises. However, I can't walk very far or stand for too long at a time. I have been doing Coach Nicole's chair exercises, along with some chair boxing and chair belly dancing. I try to do some floor and seated yoga, and try to remember to do some upper body weights. I've packed on 20 lbs since my injury and have only shed 2 lbs since I started exercising and watching my diet almost a month ago. I think being depressed from being an avid runner to suddenly not being able to walk or stand hit me pretty hard. But, now I am positive I will continue to make progress and continue on my journey back to being healthy and happy!

from Texas to all of you new members. I really enjoy this team. I'm finding even if I just can do just 5 minutes of exercise, it is better than what I was doing. I'm so glad that I found this team. I think I'm going to need to use a pillow to sit down on as the backside gets a little sore when moving around.

Hi everybody!! Thanks to Furture49 for reffering me to this team! My name is Becci, I am 38yo living with my mother who is my caregiver and living in Western Mass., USA. I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury in 1993 at the age of 19 (actually, I was 19 for 2 weeks). I was left with my left side completely paralyzed, but after 2 years learned to walk again! At this point I am walking unassisted, except by a leg brace, and my left arm has remainded partially paralyzed.I am overjoyed by my capabiities now, but do to my terrible memory and cognition can not always get outside for exercise since I tend to get lost! I completed my first 5k in Sept. although on a treadmill at the gym. I am still proud to have done it! Didn't know about the 60 min time limit on the treads at that gym..darn it!! I look forward to learning, sharing and celebrating my victories with all of you!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm ready to get going on this new part of my journey. I'm fighting the battle for my life on some new leg tremor medicine. The main side effect it has is weight gain. They did a 1 year study on it and the average weight gain was 45-80 lbs for the year. I just can't go there, not now! It is the final medicine that I can try. It is preventing a lot of the tremors, but I'm fighting now not to regain some of my weight. The doctor apologized for having to put me on it, but it is the last resort for me. 24/7 leg tremors are not a pretty site plus you have a difficult time sleeping. I know that I need this medicine regimen, but I also know that I don't want to gain my weight back. I am determined to keep fighting.

Howdy-Doody from the DFW area of Texas!
I'm new to this team. I've been looking around for it and have finally found it. I have numerous medical issues and am a disabled nurse. I have limited movement a lot of times, but I have managed to progress to being able to get rid of my wheelchair and now I use a walker. I trying walking outside everyday in the fresh air. I've been cooped up so long since 2003 that I just love to get outside and just stand sometimes. I've lost quite a lot of weight, 200+, but the doctors seem to think that I need to lose a little more (less than 25 lbs) so I guess I need to attempt to increase my overall exercise a little more. It will be 4 yrs in March that I started my journey at 365+ lbs. (Please feel free to read my spark page) I feel really great at the weight that I am now and have even gotten back into blue jeans. I haven't been able to get them over my thighs since 1971 in college. I am anxious to get started and find new friends and encouragement along the way. Let's all help each other succeed.

My name is Dee. I have a back injury that keeps me from being able to be on my feet very much. I am currently using a walker but have not given up getting back to a cane. I believe chair exercise will help me regain strength. I joined SP around a month ago.

Hi my name is Carol I am 68 yrs.young and have few health problems that keeps me from extensive exercize. I started water exercize at the Y then fell and broke my wrist. I can't walk for very long periods at a time due to Pulmonary Atrial Hypertension and I use oxygen when I do walk so I am so hoping chair exercize will be a big help for me. I have been on SP for 4 yrs.
