Hi Sheri & welcome to the team. Don't think of this as a "diet". Rather aim for health - healthy eating and moving. This will put your mindset toward your overall well being - not deprivation. You are choosing your health & making YOU a priority!

Hello and welcome. The key to my losing weight this time is changing my mindset. I am not on a diet to lose 100 pounds, I am learning how to eat and lose weight and get to a healthy state.

Your story is very typical in the fact that losing weight is not easy. You have many factors in your favor which are your kids, and your husband who is very supportive.

Your children are very young which is a good, because their eating habits can be corrected. Also you have joined an awesome group (Sparks People) who is here to support you as well. All you need is the drive, motivation, and willingness to achieve and you will be at your goal in an instant. emoticon

My kids and I all love fresh fruit...try freezing cut up cantaloupe or grapes, just for a few hours. It is so good and the kids will enjoy it too. I'm an ice cream junkie and this really does the trick. I have also found that the more healthy options you have, the more likely me and the kids will go healthy (i.e. yogurt or applesauce with cinnamon...they still have a choice, but it's a good one!)Good luck...you'll do great!

Summer is such a good time for you to be doing this. There are so many good fresh fruit and vegetables out there.

Plan you food for the day. Plan what you are going to eat. Toss food out of your house that might tempt you. Do not eliminate all sweets you will feel deprived and go off the diet.

Get outside with your kids and play. Enjoy them. Its great exercise.

Take it one minute one pound at a time.

Hi! I'm Sheri. I'm 32 years old, married with 2 daughters (6 & 11). I have struggled with my weight all my life. My highest weight was 250 lbs 2 years ago. I lost 80 lbs and have put back on about 30. My daughters have learned terrible eating habits (mostly involving sweets). Not only for my own benefit, but for my girls, I need to get the rest of this weight off and keep it off... healthfully. My husband does not struggle with his weight, but he is very supportive of my efforts to lose the weight and will help in any way he can. I'm looking forward to finding new motivation and interventions on this site!
