Hello and welcome! I am new myself. The answer to your question is that one word most of us dread saying! EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE! That seems to be the only way to bump up the metabolism at this age!
I have always been in good physical condition regardless of my size, but after I hit my 40's I realized that my already slow metabolism was just getting slower and slower! And if I want to be healthy, I had to begin a consistent exercise routine. I am still in the process of figuring out what works for me. I do think thats the key, you must find something that you like, something that you will stick to! Don't let others tell you what to do, don't do something just because it works for someone else. Try several things, and really find what you think you can realistically merge into your life as a long term permanent thing. The other thing that this site has helped me with is tracking what I eat everyday. For some reason that is really working for me! Seeing it in print, realizing the choices I make every time I open my mouth do matter. Knowing I have to write it all down, really helps me to make better choices.
